WIW: Summer Holiday

Hi Ladies,

We left for Melbourne this morning to return my mum home after her week long visit and to spend NYE with my best friend and her family. Packing was relatively simple. Packed black and white only:).

This was my my outfit today for travel (car) and dinner in the evening with my family.

Casual and comfy:). This is the midi skirt from Kmart that Caro and I both have in the wide black and white stripes. The black version is essentially the same but seems a little longer and is proving to be a great piece for summer.

Also featuring the lovely cross body bag my sister gave me for Christmas. I had shown her this one to give her an idea of what I was looking for (she did ask) and the sweetie actually got me "the one":). The brand is "Things Terrific" and they do a lovely but small range of bags, all lovely soft leather and are an Australian family owned company.

Thanks for looking and suggestions and thoughts always very valued.

WIW : Sunday Girl

Hi Fabbers,

I'm a Blondie fan, so today seemed like a good day to commandeer a fab Blondie song for my post.. and it is Sunday here.

Wore this to church today.  Decided to dress up my new 'casual' black scrunch pants.  I have a low tolerance for cropped looks on me but  love them on others so hopefully these work ok to your collective eye.  Added a white blouse and semi tucked, and topped with my  animal print kimono style jacket.  Pointy flats with gold tip and my accessories are mostly black.

Yesterday Master 19 bought a silly string gun and during the course of the day he discovered that my hairspray can fits the gun...#3 is the end result.  He thinks he is soooo clever :)

Comments, thoughts on the outfit much appreciated.

And if you don't know the song take a trip back to 1979....

WIW : Chistmas Day & Today

Hi Fabbers,

I hope those of you who have some time off are enjoying it, and those who are back at work, trust it's not too busy.

A couple of outfits.

#1-#2 Today's casual outfit for day of relaxing :) Taking Mum out later to her favourite boutique so she can 'spend' two gift vouchers she received for Christmas :)

The pants were a purchase in yesterday's Boxing Day sales. Nice fabrication and I like the scrunch detail at the bottom. I don't own anything like this in terms of casual summer pants so hopefully they are ok (I know the length is questionable but I kind of like it).

#3 is what I wore Christmas Day. Ended up being a touch hot for the leggings but this was a very me and very comfortable for a day of cooking, serving, cleaning up etc... This dress is a few years old and I keep pulling it out of the donate box lol.

Thanks for looking. Comments and suggestions for improvement always appreciated.

WIW: White on Christmas Eve

Hi Fabbers,

Home from our Christmas Carols Service this evening, and congratulations to my DH for putting together a fantastic program. It was very well attended with other 500 people in the main auditorium, and Master 10 worked with Dad and ran the lights :)

I have been looking forward to wearing this outfit and had considered it for Christmas Day but with all the cooking and eating, I know white is not a good choice for me :)

The top and pants are both new. The top is a crinkly satin with a fabulous over layer at the front which creates some fab draping. The pants are a very simple slim leg pant. Sandals are vintage:) Kept it all pretty simple, with my silver rings, silver drop pearl earrings and left my watch of and wore a 'cuff' which is 4 strands of black satin 'rope' with a silver clasp with small pearls set in it.

Your thoughts on how this works, or if it can be improved would be appreciated.

I hope to pop back in the morning to wish you all a proper Merry Christmas but til then enjoy your Christmas Eve.

WIW : When Christmas Came Early.

Happy Weekend Fabbers!

My mum and sister arrived today to spend an early Christmas with us. Mum is staying on for a week and we will be with us on Christmas Day but my sister will head home late tomorrow.

We had a Christmas Dinner this evening and exchanged gifts.

#1 is what I wore today. Jersey dress with cowl neck, racer back and asymmetric hem. Warm but not too hot. In doors, so no shoes :) I love going barefoot.

#2 /#3/#4 the bag my sister gave me for Christmas (I love it) It's from " Things Terrific", lovely soft leather, stunning.

#5/#6 the bag my sister bought herself (DKNY) for Christmas :)

# the lego my sister gave Master 10. He spent the afternoon building it.. apparently it's "awesome"!

Thanks for looking.

WIW: A Kind of Floral

Hi Fabbers

Our hot weather is well and truly here. Today is going to be 40 and I have been in dresses all week.

Today I'm wearing an Esprit dress that I bought on one of my shoppong trips with my sister. It was a bit of an impulse buy because it felt so nice and light and my practical side said it would be great for really hot days.

However I really on,y like it with something layered over it. It goes into frump territory worn on its own:)

So I'm wearing it to work today with my Zara sleeveless jacket. I have mixed feelings about the dress so I will have me to see how it plays out and if I do infact wear it on very hot days.

DH used my camera earlier in the week and I'm struggling to get my settings back the way I like them:) so excuse bad pics. Our house is in darkness as we endeavor to keep cool so I have ventured out to the garden.

As always appreciate your thoughts and suggestions.

WIW: Now For Something Different :)

Hi Fabbers,

It is a stunning Sundy afternoon here and I am thinking that sitting outside and getting some Vitamin D while enjoying a good book might be just the ticket for an hour or so.

I wore this outfit to church this morning. Felt like a change from the skinny leg silhouette so reached for my wide leg black pants. I think they must be about 8 years old and are still in brilliant condition and hopefully are so plain they don't look dated. Next is a top that I usually wear under a blazer for work but I decided to let go of my tummy issues today and am wearing it without a topper. The top is from Asos and just drapes everywhere... I really like it... oh and did you notice... it's not black ;)

Just for the record I do normally wear a bit of tummy control brief with this top but they were all in the wash :( I also ruche the band of the top a bit but forgot for the pic.

Thanks for looking and any suggestions for improvement would be fantastic :)

WIW : The Same But Different;)

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend, or at least heading into a great weekend.

I know my outfits this week have all been very similar! I go months and months, sometimes a year without wearing leggings and then all of a sudden I am in love with them again lol.

The ones I am wearing are from Brown Sugar and are a dressier, slinkier fabrication than my others. They are also long so I get scrunch and what I consider to be a more 'relaxed' fit.

This dress is a Melbourne purchase before I relocated 3 years ago so it's a bit old. Having lost some weight I found it fitted quite fluidly today so I popped it on for lunch with a friend. I was considering putting it in the donate pile but may consider keeping as it is so easy to wear and might be useful to hand on too, though I think I might prefer it if it was sleeveless.

Anyway if you are sick of seeing black dress, leggings and sandals, look away... I do understand:)

For reference:

#1 : Today
#2: Yesterday
#3: Earlier in the week

Otherwise your comments and thoughts are always appreciated.

WIW: Easy Breezy but "Complex"

Hi Fabbers,

It is Friday! Day of running around, shopping and preparing for Christmas. We are catering two separate family dinners this year.

You have seen it before but worn a little differently. This is my Complexgeometries hooded square tank dress. Layered over light weight relaxed leggings.

Not everyone's cup of tea I understand but I do love this. It's easy to wear, and comfortable.

Thanks for looking, and your comments and styling suggestions always appreciated.

Have a fab day.

WIW: Celebration Evening

Hi Ladies,

Today was end of term for Master 10 and he is now off school until February:)
Tonight we have what the school calls "Celebration Evening" where the children graduate and are given awards etc.

I am wearing:

Black skinny jeans (that have bagged out shockingly with one day's wear:()
Grey sleeveless top
Black draped jacket
Black Booties

Not sure about a bag yet but will probably carry my gunmetal clutch and will pop on my watch and silver rings.

I find myself often dressed very differently to the other mums but I am embracing Penny's (Lantana) post of today:
 http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....tracts-you
and I am letting go of being concerned with dressing differently to my environmental norm and just wearing what I want to wear :)  Thanks Penny :)

So, do I look school mum appropriate ;)   Does this outfit work, particularly the proportions?

Thanks for looking and for your thoughts.

xxx Deborah

ps... I predict you are going to get very sick of seeing this jacket ;)
