WIW: A Kind of Floral

Hi Fabbers

Our hot weather is well and truly here. Today is going to be 40 and I have been in dresses all week.

Today I'm wearing an Esprit dress that I bought on one of my shoppong trips with my sister. It was a bit of an impulse buy because it felt so nice and light and my practical side said it would be great for really hot days.

However I really on,y like it with something layered over it. It goes into frump territory worn on its own:)

So I'm wearing it to work today with my Zara sleeveless jacket. I have mixed feelings about the dress so I will have me to see how it plays out and if I do infact wear it on very hot days.

DH used my camera earlier in the week and I'm struggling to get my settings back the way I like them:) so excuse bad pics. Our house is in darkness as we endeavor to keep cool so I have ventured out to the garden.

As always appreciate your thoughts and suggestions.

xxxDeborah

So light for you! I really like it.

I am jealous of your awesome shades and your pretty dress! I like the sleeveless topper/bootie combo - so badass ;)

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Thanks Carter and thank Lyn*.  I don't relly do "pretty" so Im glad you feel the topper and bootie bring the dress to where I want it to be :)

Definitely a bit of a new direction for you but I think it works really well. The print is interesting and not at all girly, and the vest and shoes pull it back towards your look, like Lyn said.

Thanks Greyscale.  And responses like "what were you thinking" will be accepted with good grace :)  LOL.  This is definitely not a direction I am heading in, more like a spot I might visit very occasionally. Our summers are hot and good dresses, that I like, are hard to find. :)

Deborah you must bathe in frump repellent. You have taken that over and made it your own!

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

L'Abeille thats such a nice thing to say. Thank you.  "Frump Repellent" what an excellent idea.  Now if we could bottle such a thing I think it would sell like hotcakes.  We could make a fortune :)

I really like it on you.

Looks great, Debs. That topper is a fabulous third piece for this ensemble.

Great outfit, the dress looks airy and cool, but the sleeveless vest and booties make the look more edgy.

I like it too - light and airy. And WOW it's hot there!  Stay cool!

    Nice!

You look SO not frumpy with the vest and the really cool footwear. I'm taking notes for many months from now, when it's warm again on this side of the planet.

You look great! I love that you've paired it with the vest and bootie shoes. It really keeps it from looking sweet and blah.  It looks edgy! Huge success!

Very nice. Its 38 here already too.

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Caro I am in the office and not keen to venture out.  I don't enjoy the heat at all.

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

So pretty! But the vest and shoes make it you.

  • Debra replied 10 years ago

You look very stylish and cool. I really like the vest and shoes with this dress and think the print is nice for a change from solids.
It still looks like "you". :)

The dress looks perfect for the weather. The sleeveless jacket and shoes really bring the Deborah vibe. Hello to Dexter :)

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

You have made the dress your own with the sleeveless jacket, cool sandals and shades. It looks perfect for those hot days.

  • shedev replied 10 years ago

I like the look, Deb. Please send me some of your extra heat.

  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago

Well, I am not a dress girl but I do like this Deborah!
The hemline and black back (?) help to calm the floral, as do your vest and shoes. How did it feel?
I wore a linen dress yesterday and it was great. I attended a Choir Concert and whilst other ladies were complaining about sticking to their seats, I did not :)

Great look Deborah and you still have your edge!

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

Fantastic dress, and perfect for the weather you're having!

  • rae replied 10 years ago

I love how you styled it! The heavy blacks are a nod to your personal style while the dress itself keeps you cool.
