One Dress! Could You?

Hi Fabbers,

I came across this very stylish lady on Pinterest:) Her name is Michelle Oka Doner and she is an artist.

I noted that I seemed to be seeing her in the same dress but different colours and did some research.

Apparently she bought this dress in 1987 and has had it made in a variety of colour and fabrics.  I believe she does have other things in her wardrobe, but according to what I read this dress is the key item in her wardrobe and she wears them all the time.

I was struck by the beauty of Michelle, and her dress. I was thinking I would love to take a picture to my dressmaker and see if she could could copy the dress... and then I started to wonder if I could have one item that I loved so much and felt reflected who I am, would I be happy to simply wear different versions (colours / tones) all the time. I think I might?!?

How about you?

WIW : White Pants

Moving on from yesterday's "dogs dinner of an outfit" lol.  (Thank you to those who liked it and thank you to those who saw the issues with it :) )

Today I am back to what I feel is more effortlessly 'me'.  Black, white, clean lines, a little layering etc.

I wore this to church and then for lunch:)

White Ankle Pants : Valley Girl
Split Side Knit Tunic : Metalicus
Cocoon Cardigan : Suzanne Grae - quite sheer as per #2
Pumps : Wittner

Accessories are all silver.  Choker, Cuff and Wave Ring.

The white pants are new, and kind of a HEWI for me.  Funnily enough, they were an item I was prepared to spend $$ on but the ones that fit best and met all my white pants criteria (these) were inexpensive.

Thanks for taking a peek and any suggestions etc much appreciated.

WIW :Grey Layers

Hi Ladies,

I am so enjoying our forum outfit lab on layering grey, so I decided to give it a go.

I wore this out shopping with a friend this morning and I was complemented by a SA, but I am not sure I would wear it again.  I feel it needs some modification.  The two layers don't work as well as I would like them to.

I generally don't wear dark grey, as I don't think they flatter me as much as the light grey but my girlfriend disagrees??  I think my silver / grey open back sweater will be more flattering tone with the white pants in future.

So it is a true spring day here today and I was excited to wear my new white pants.  As I was wearing a flat shoe I simply folded them once  to show of the shoe (they sit just on the ankle below the ankle bone).  I did wear the sleeves pushed up but forgot to do that for the photo.  The skin of my arm showing seemed to help balance the outfit.

The shoes have been a wardrobe orphan:(  I got the thumbs up from the Forum when I bought them about two years ago and I think I have worn them twice:(  In about 60 seconds I went from loving them to thinking they looked like old lady comfort shoes!!  Anyway I do like them and I am determined to wear them this season.

I think I will continue to work on and tweak this idea.  What do you think?

Appreciated your thoughts

WIW : One Grey

Not shoes, but a sweater :)

I have found the discussions on wearing greys together really interesting and will be playing with tonal mixes in the coming weeks. I am also keen to get more wear of my pewter (greyish tones) boots but that's another story.   But for today I kept it simple.  Also wearing a pair of higher shaft ankle boots which I bought early in our winter - they finish about an inch and a half above the ankle bone.

Worn today to have lunch with a friend and to try on my the new Motto Skirted Leggings which look great and have been put on layby.  Should have them next week :)  Can't wait to show you.

Jacket : Motto Coated Jersey
Grey Metallic Sweater: Suzanne Grae
Ponte Leggings : Target
Ankle Boots : Serra

Thanks for looking and suggestions for improvement appreciated.

WIW : Another Great Aussie Label:)

Hi Ladies,

You will have noted that Brooklyn has some lovely items from Decjuba:)
She recently recommended I take a look as she thought it would be my style cup of tea... she was right :)  I saw a number of things on their website that I could have ordered immediately if only I didn't have a budget lol.

Well, while gathering clothing for the upcoming fundraiser fashion parade I am doing,(all recycled clothing) I came across a gorgeous pure wool top/sweater, and what do you know, it's from Decjuba.  It's from their Baby Wool range. Its in perfect condition, I would say as new, and I had to try it on...as you do.  Well I love it!  I have worn it twice this week already (it is still cold here)!

Today I wore it to work:)

Sweater :  Decjuba
White Tank : Metalicus
Coated Pants : L.Linda
Boots : Hush Puppies.

What do you think?  I thought it was a score for $10.00 :)  It is so comfortable I don't want to take it off.  I think it would work with a midi length skirt too:)

Shout out to Brooklyn, thankyou... I really like this label... I can envisage more it it coming in to play with my Metalicus and Motto items:)

WIW : Over a busy weekend

Hi Ladies,

First weekend of school holidays, DH had a huge event at church (I was involved too) and too many other things to even think about)

#1 / #2 Is what I wore to our Church Event on Sunday night.  It's kind of a battle of the (worship) bands crossed with the X Factor.  I was a judge! The judges are really a diversion as the bands exit and enter the stage and we are supposed to be funny.  My brief was to be funny (I am so not funny) and comment on their style, etc.

Cross over Pants : Supre
Cropped Tee : Metalicus
Jacket : A Joy
Pumps : Wittner

#3 / #4  was a repeat of #5 but with my wedge booties and a statement necklace.  I am organising a fashion parade (fundraiser) and had to fit one of the models today.

#5 was what I wore to take Master 12 to a Comic Con event here in Bendigo.  It was very cool, with people dressed up in character and I had my photo taken with the Tardis and a Dialect (yes I am a Whovian!!) We had a great time.

Skinny pants : Katies
Silky Tee : Target
Chelsea Boots : Rivers
Back pack : Serra

So after all that I have to confess I spend part of today snoozing on the couch lol.

Comments, critiques etc all very much appreciated.

PSA : Motto Skirted Leggings

Hi Ladies,

I guess this is predominantly for the Aussie girls, but note that they do ship overseas for a standard rate of $25.00 :)

I made it my mission to find a quality skirted legging in Australia, and I have now completed my mission lol and am reporting back.

I tried them on in store today and the quality is lovely.  The fabric is a stretch jersey but it's not like tshirt jersey, its more refined, substantia and drapey.  They have a flat stretch elastic waistband.  Machine washable and no ironing required.  They only had larger sizes left but I tried them anyway and the Manager pinned and pulled them into how my size would fit. (I am getting the size 10 - they run very true to size.) They are stunning.  Apparently only one pair left in the state and it's on its way to Bendigo for me:)  The Manager has said that they are restocking soon. They are currently at full price of $89.99 and well worth the money.  They are a little dressy but could be dressed down with the right tops and say leather slip on sneaks for the weekend.

This is the only pair that I have found in Australia that I feel stands up to the EF ones in terms of design, cut and quality :)

WIW : Cross Over Pants

Hi Ladies,

I was a little too keen to dress for Spring today and I did have to change into warmer pants and shoes before I went out again for lunch.

I wore this outfit to go shopping for white pants:)

Crossover Pants : Supre
White Under Top : Suzanne Grae
Navy Hi Low Top : Motto
Pumps : Wittner

I forgot how much I love these pants (they are only really wearable in Spring/Summer as they are quite light).  Despite being from what is known to be a 'cheaper' store, they are reasonable quality and wash and wear well.

I scoured the stores for white pants or jeans.  I was ready to spend to get a good pair and had done quite a bit of on line research.  I ended up in a store here called Valley Girl, which is very much aimed at the teen/tween demographic.  They had a fab pair of white ankle pants on sale which ticked all my boxes so I bought them.  They also had a great pair of white skinny jeans, also on sale, which I think I may go back for tomorrow.  Funny how we often find things in the most unexpected of places.

Thanks for looking.

P.s.  #3 is my blogger pose lol.  Seen a lot of bloggers doing this and as I was feeling a silly thought I would give it a try :)

Seasons & Nature Challenge #9

This is fun!  I often find it difficult to participate in the challenges and after dressing this morning I checked the inspiration photos to see if maybe subliminally I had been inspired, and I think I was:)

My interpretation is, I suppose quite literal with the black and white and the long line.  I don't know what do you think? At any rate I just love the photo.

Thanks Diane, clever idea :)

WIW : Minimalist Tuesday

Hi Ladies,

Easing into Spring wear at the moment:)

I woke up this morning wanting to wear my Cos white shirt.  And as usual black seemed like the appropriate accompaniment :)

I think I *might* be slowly moving to more streamlined, minimal looks?  Still a little drape but perhaps a tad more structure.

Outfit:

A.Joy Waterfall Jacket
Cos White Shirt
L.Linda coated jersey pants
Hush Puppies ankle boots

Kept accessories to a minimum, with silver rings and silver earrings, and my watch.

Thanks for looking.  Suggestions for improvement, etc much appreciated.
