WIW : Over Christmas

Merry Christmas All.

I hope you have enjoyed your celebrations, what ever they may be.

Its been fun and busy and I managed to snap my outfits over the past few days:

#1 / #2  What I wore to our Carols Night at church.  It was hot and this was very comfortable and easy to wear.  Dressed it up with my silver/black clutch.
Kmart midi tube skirt which I am hoping to replace with a Metalicus one on Saturday when I visit their outlet :)  Katies draped blouse semi tucked into the skirt, and Django & Juliette sandals.

#3 / #4  Christmas Day at home.  This year it was just the three of us for Christmas Day (for the first time) and we loved it.  Master 11 especially was thrilled.  I still cooked for us and we sat down to lunch together and then visited DH's mum in the afternoon.  Valley Girl cream tunic worn over Metalicus dress and because it's Christmas in Australia, Ipanema 'thongs' or flip flops for my US friends.  The necklace is one I bought very recently.  It is black and silver and I love it.  It's quite long and I am wearing it here doubled.

#5 Boxing Day.  We had some of DH's family for Christmas Lunch today... his mum, brother and brothers' partner and of course Master 11.  Not too hot so we ate outside and it was lovely and relaxed.  The outfit pic isn't actually from today but this is what I wore, with the necklace as worn in #4 and silver hoop earrings.  Harem leggings are Urban Outfitters and top from Metalicus.  Target Birk-a-likes.

It has been a lovely few days, and Master 11 and I are heading to Melbourne tomorrow morning for a farewell party for his best friend who is moving to Port Macquarie (I know I am going to cry).  While he's at the party I will be meeting my sister for a coffee and shop at Moorabbin DFO!!  You will be pleased to know I have only two things I would be keen to buy at Metalicus but otherwise I have not been tempted at all by the Boxing Day / after Christmas sales :)

Thanks for looking and as always your feedback, suggestions etc much appreciated.

BTW, my DH is awesome!  For Christmas, he bought me a new Camera Lense for my Nikon.  It's a still lense? (I am still learning) and ideal for taking my outfit photos.  He also booked one on one tuition with a very good local photographer:)   I know I am very blessed to have husband that understands and encourages my very amateur interest in photography AND  my YLF activities:)

WIW : Secret Santa Earrings

HI Ladies,

It is Christmas Eve here and my goodness it is busy out at the shops!  DH has been at work (church) all day preparing and running rehearsals for our Carols service tonight and Master 11 and I went out early to finish our gift shopping and food shopping for tomorrow and Boxing Day.. so glad we went early.

It's another warm day here so comfort and ease were important.

Popped on this draped dress with taupe sandle bootie 'thingys". Suz.... note the lighter footwear:)  So much easier in summer with bare legs:)   This dress is great as it works across the seasons.  For the cooler months I wear it with a draped jacket or cardigan, leggings and boots.   I have started wearing my hair a tiny bit different, it's slightly shorter and I have started to bring it forward on my face both sides rather than tucking the left side behind my ear (hair changes come very slowly with me lol!) I am also starting to play around with texturising products!!  Once dresed, I realised my gorgeous Secret Santa earrings from the gorgeous Karie would be perfect with the dress and my hair :)

Karie, thank you, I am loving these.  They work with everything and I am really enjoying a dropped earrings with my short hair.

Time to get ready for the Carols.  No idea what I will wear lol.  Off to peruse the closet.

Anyway happy Christmas Eve, I know we are ahead of some of you but hope it's not all crazy where you are and that you just relax into the Holiday season:)

Excuse the photos!  My usual spot was inundated with Lego (school holidays) and the new spot send the flash off etc.  It was all a bit of a challenge :)

WIW : Summer Layers

 Hi Ladies,

Today I wore my Metalicus California Wrap Vest as an actual vest:)  I have been enjoying it worn as a dress with the various options of securing it creating different looks.

Today was hot so I started with my Metalicus Soft Seamless Dress (very bodycon), layered a navy Target (Limited Editions range) sleeveless tunic over it and then layered the vest over that.

While I liked how it look and felt comfortable, I am unsure about the length.  The dress sits just above the knee and I do think that is an 'appropriate' length but i am not sure.  I think it was the short length and the heels together that make me question.  Perhaps a flat sandal might work better?

Would appreciate your thoughts on this.  And I am truly not offended if you feel it is too short.

Thanks
xxx Deborah

WIW : Shorts on Saturday!

Hi Ladies,

I own one pair of shorts and these are it:)  I thrifted a pair of wide leg cropped jeans with the specific intent of cutting them down into shorts.  And these are the end result.  They don't get worn often but every now and again they are just what I need in our heat.

It's Saturday and we had lots of running around to do today and ended up at the skating rink with Master 11.

Denim Shorts
 - DIY, thrifted
Top
- complexgeometries (why does Canada have the most awesome designers?)
Birk-a-likes
- Target

Thanks for looking:)  I really don't like myself in shorts but some days the weather wins over our (my) style sensibilities

WIW : The Week Before Christmas

Hi Fab Ladies,

The weeks have been crazy in the lead up to Christmas, preparing for family, getting things wrapped up at work and getting ready for our summer holiday period so I haven't managed to do daily outfit pics but these are the ones I did manage this week.

#1 features a new Metalicus top.  I love this design, and have two other tops the same but in solid black and blood red.  Using Angie's forumula for debomshelling a pencil skirt, I teamed the oversized top with a midi tube (kind of pencil) skirt and modern footwear. I enjoyed wearing this, felt comfortable and stylish really like the white and grey combo in the top.

#2 is a close up of the earrings I wore today silver tree of life, set in resin.  I have a real soft spot for whimsical jewelry.  I don't thnk there is anything about my style that could be described as whimsical but every now and again I sneak in an accessory that I feel can work with my more modern looks.

#3 This is a cool drape dress that has a high low hem and a fab drape at the back.   You have seen this before but this time I wore my open toe booties.  This was worn for our last community meal for the year  which was an early Christmas celebration meal.  I received some lovely compliments from a couple of our guests.

#4  This was Monday at work, a day of appointments out of the office.  Wore my Metalicus Plaza Drape Dress and first wearing of my Emelia Block Heels in Tan.  I bought these when I bought my black pair.  Do they look ok?  I felt the photos made my legs look a bit like pig trotters with the more neutral shoe BUT in the mirror I thought they looked good???  This bag is about 12 months old and an inexpensive non leather bag that is perfect for meeting days.  Good size, structured and I don't need to carry a second bag for files etc.

Thanks for looking.  Your thoughts, suggestions, critiques all very much appreciated.

WIW : My Week

Hi Ladies,

Here's a few outfits from this week.

It's been a bit of a busy one for me working three consecutive days this week in order to attend a scheduled Cultural Competency Training yesterday.  The upside is that I am now off work until Monday.  Nothing like a four day weekend :)

#1/#2  Monday at the office.
Black Slim Leg Pants - Katies Classic Pant
White Drape Top - Katies
Kimono - Local Store
Open Toe Ankle Boots - Rubi

#3/#4  Tuesday at the office and then to School Presentation Evening
California Wrap Vest - Metalicus (worn as dress)
Soft Touch Seamless Dress - Metalicus (not seen, under the vest)
Shooties : Rubi

I am wearing the vest slightly different to last time.  Here one side is secured at the waist and the other is drape up and secured to the shoulder.  I am completely besotted with this vest and am already looking forward to styling it for the cooler weather:)

#5 Wednesday for Training Day at Head Office
Overversized semi sheer top - local store
Black Slim Leg Pants - Katies Classic Pant (same as Monday)
Shooties  - Rubi

You have seen this one before :)

Thanks for looking and comments, critique, suggestions always much appreciated.

WIW : Karate Grading & Hair Advice

Hi Fabbers

Master 11 had his first Karate grading this morning.  He started doing Karate about 4 months ago and today achieved his yellow belt.  He is one proud little man.

I hadn't really thought about what to wear and our weather demonstrated why it is wise to keep all seasons in my closet all year round.  It was cold!
Not my greatest work, but out came the black skinny jeans, open toe boots, Metalicus top and Metalicus jacket (new) worn with silver accessories.

On another note, I have been having so much trouble with my hair.  I have been using good quality shampoos and conditioners and my hair has been a nightmare to style.  Frustrated to the point of starting to think that short hair was a mistake, I bought a supermarket brand conditioner (have used it before) that is supposed to have all he bad things in it, and voila my hair is looking so much better today.  Does this happen to you?  I am also wondering if I have been over conditioning my hair?  Any advice on managing short hair.  I do have to wash it and style it every day, and I don't like using product.

BTW, cut and colour next Friday.

Thanks
xxx Deborah

WIW : To the School Production

Happy Weekend Ladies:)

Some of you will know that I entered a competition recently, and many of you so kindly voted for me:) Thank you to those who did vote.  I was overwhelmed by the support.  I received 202 votes, ran third, and my prize was a $100 Gift Voucher from Metalicus.

My purchase arrived yesterday, just in time to wear to Master 11's school production last night.

The attraction of the California Wrap Vest is that it can be worn a number of ways.  On the model it is about mid thigh length, so I knew that it would be about knee length on me and I should be able to wear it as a dress also:) The fabric is a blend and has a % of wool also which makes it quite a transeasonal piece.

Yesterday was very hot and my day off, so I opted for flat sandals, but I really think this needs heels and will wear with heels for work.  I also see from the pictures that a different bra will be better too :)  Thank goodness for photos:)

Included the Metalicus photos so you can see the other options for wearing this.  I do occasionally wish I were tall lol.

WIW : Culottes Again

Hi Ladies,

I am really enjoying my culottes. They work equally as well for both work and casual.

Repurposed wide leg pants, now Culottes - Suzanne Grae
Blood Red Marlini Drape Top - Metalicus
Emelia Block Heels - Rubi
Sterling Silver Bee Pendant on Leather strap - Jenna Clifford

The bee (significant because my name means "bee") pendant was a gift from a friend who travels a little to South Africa. It was on a short satin rope but while I did wear it, it was never quite right. Recently I decided it might make me happier on a long leather strap, and voila, I have been wearing it all week:)

#4 was after work. Changed out my footwear for my birk-a-likes and popped on a black square cut tee to take Master 11 to Karate. Looks a bit "blobby" in the pic but both garments have a lot of movement IRL.

I am really thrilled at how well my wardrobe is working for me. I need my key pieces to go everywhere and the ease with which I could swap out my top and shoes and be 'after school ready' in minutes is exactly the goal I have been working towards.

Thanks for looking. Comments, critiques much appreciated.
