WIW : The Week Before Christmas

Hi Fab Ladies,

The weeks have been crazy in the lead up to Christmas, preparing for family, getting things wrapped up at work and getting ready for our summer holiday period so I haven't managed to do daily outfit pics but these are the ones I did manage this week.

#1 features a new Metalicus top.  I love this design, and have two other tops the same but in solid black and blood red.  Using Angie's forumula for debomshelling a pencil skirt, I teamed the oversized top with a midi tube (kind of pencil) skirt and modern footwear. I enjoyed wearing this, felt comfortable and stylish really like the white and grey combo in the top.

#2 is a close up of the earrings I wore today silver tree of life, set in resin.  I have a real soft spot for whimsical jewelry.  I don't thnk there is anything about my style that could be described as whimsical but every now and again I sneak in an accessory that I feel can work with my more modern looks.

#3 This is a cool drape dress that has a high low hem and a fab drape at the back.   You have seen this before but this time I wore my open toe booties.  This was worn for our last community meal for the year  which was an early Christmas celebration meal.  I received some lovely compliments from a couple of our guests.

#4  This was Monday at work, a day of appointments out of the office.  Wore my Metalicus Plaza Drape Dress and first wearing of my Emelia Block Heels in Tan.  I bought these when I bought my black pair.  Do they look ok?  I felt the photos made my legs look a bit like pig trotters with the more neutral shoe BUT in the mirror I thought they looked good???  This bag is about 12 months old and an inexpensive non leather bag that is perfect for meeting days.  Good size, structured and I don't need to carry a second bag for files etc.

Thanks for looking.  Your thoughts, suggestions, critiques all very much appreciated.

xxx Deborah

    Pig Trotters! (Snorting here :) :) )
The heel and colour look very fresh and modern to me Deborah!
Loving your new Titan top in #1- a great choice- Bravo!!

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Thanks so much Lyn.  I am really glad I bought the top.  It has a bit more weight in it than I expected so it falls and drapes perfectly.  It will cross over very easily between work and play:)

I have two more things on my Metalicus 'wish list'.... the Mana Oragami Dress which I am stalking to sale:)  And a tube skirt which I think I should be able to pick up at the outlet :)

I see what you mean about the shoes really making a difference. I imagined each outfit with, say, black ballet flats and it changes the whole thing. Love your style!

I like the neutral shoes with black in 4...You look FAB as always and you could never look like 'pig trotters'  not even if you tried...Great posts...

I love your modern looks, you pull them off effortlessly!  Did you say Metalicus outlet?  The have outlets too?  I'm a little jealous.

Deborah - you look wonderful in all the outfits!!  Snorts, from me on the "pig trotters" comment.  I think Lyn already covered that!!  We should all be so lucky to have your lovely "pig trotters!!"  I am so envious that you have a brand that really "gets" you.  I used to feel that way about AT.  Now it's so much work to look and not to find, or by the time you find, you're almost too worn out to enjoy it!!  So glad you found metallicus.  Honestly the pieces were made for you!

Looking good Deborah. The top in #1 is fab.

Beautiful looks at a hectic time of year! The shirt in #1 and your new tan heels are brilliant additions to your wardrobe. Looking forward to seeing more looks with each.

Pig trotters? Ha, that is a funny one, but you (and your legs) look nothing of the sort. I think the light shoes look terrific and bookend your hair while lengthening your legs. Love all of the outfits!

BELLISSIMO times three!! Flawless and fabulous. Amused by your pig trotter comment too.....I feel you haven't heard the last of that description!

A fantastic set of outfits! I like the nude shoes with the black outfit in #3, it makes the outfit really stand out.

I adore the simplicity of these outfits Deborah - nothing overwhelming visually so that we can focus on how gorgeous you are and are perfectly your style suits you. The new top from Metalicus is a slam dunk winner and I quite like the "pig trotter" (lol) footwear :)

Pig trotters?! How can you say that? Please, don't put yourself down like that!

The overall effect with bare legs is wonderfully elongating. As ever, you look amazing. You heard that, didn't you? Amazing :)

    *clap*clap*clap*

Ok - I'm looking for any opportunity to use the expression "pig trotter" today.  That is the single best thing ever!    Anyways, back to business - NO - a nude shoe looks really cool with a black dress like this!  I really think the look works.
Your new top is wonderful - another great Metalicus find - love that brand for you!   Can you believe Christmas is a week away?  I can't :)

Deborah, these outfits are beautiful on you and so much your style. The details and modern shoes really work. The second dress without the assymetrical hem would not be the same, for example. My current HEWI is your "pig trotters" (hilarious) in black and nude but with a heel lower than 2 inches. I really like your nude ones.

Not a pig trotter in sight! Beautiful looks as always Deborah ... the earrings are really beautiful.

(Did I miss your red top, Debs? I almost fell off my chair reading that you bought one. WOW. I want love to see it).

I LOVE #1, and how the pattern of the top works with your earrings. The heathered effect of the grey top is pretty against your complexion. xo

I am totally in love with #1. That top is amazing. No wonder you triplicated. It's the perfect pairing piece for a great tube skirt. Love the way the earrings play with the tones of the top.

"Pigs trotters" -- I am still laughing at that one. But I know what you mean. Sometimes I think booties look like that on me. Or like little hooves. But here, these tan ones just look great. No trotters in sight.

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Thank you all! I think it was the unbroken leg line and my skinny ankles that caused the pig trotter image lol but I'm so glad I'm the only one that seems to see it ha ha. I'm glad because I like the tan shooties and will be wearing them more often;).

And pleased you like the new top. When it arrived, DH asked if it was what I was expecting??

  • Caro in Oz replied 9 years ago

    "Pigs trotters" she squeals :)
YLF Deborah, I love the lighter footwear with your skin & hair.

  • karymk replied 9 years ago

I love your Metallicus pieces.  I have a shorter version of the dress, more of a tunic.  Does yours have that weight thing in the back to make the slouchy back drape better?

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Karen, no mine doesn't have that. The Kahlo jacket I bought does tho. It has a loop that is designed to weight the drape from the inside. Very clever clothing:)

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

I chortled at the pig trotter image, too! But when I saw the photo, my jaw dropped at how fab you look in the black draped dress and nude-look booties. Just stunning! Definitely a look to repeat.
All of these are stellar, Deborah. The new top, the drape-back dress. I find the earrings artful, elegant, and serene, not out of character at all for you.
