WIW : Culottes Again

Hi Ladies,

I am really enjoying my culottes. They work equally as well for both work and casual.

Repurposed wide leg pants, now Culottes - Suzanne Grae
Blood Red Marlini Drape Top - Metalicus
Emelia Block Heels - Rubi
Sterling Silver Bee Pendant on Leather strap - Jenna Clifford

The bee (significant because my name means "bee") pendant was a gift from a friend who travels a little to South Africa. It was on a short satin rope but while I did wear it, it was never quite right. Recently I decided it might make me happier on a long leather strap, and voila, I have been wearing it all week:)

#4 was after work. Changed out my footwear for my birk-a-likes and popped on a black square cut tee to take Master 11 to Karate. Looks a bit "blobby" in the pic but both garments have a lot of movement IRL.

I am really thrilled at how well my wardrobe is working for me. I need my key pieces to go everywhere and the ease with which I could swap out my top and shoes and be 'after school ready' in minutes is exactly the goal I have been working towards.

Thanks for looking. Comments, critiques much appreciated.

xxxDeborah

I love the outfit, Deborah! That red top is just fantastic on you and I'm a fan of the culottes. And the bee pendant is awesome! I think I'll have to do something similar with the pendant of my Oma. I just don't wear it with the length as it is.

You look great!  And admirable that you've been able to repurpose the pants and make the necklace work for you.

From one busy bee / industrious one, to another.....I love that pendant! I'm really liking the coloured pieces you are wearing lately, while remaining true to your distinct style.

Great outfits deborah.  I particularly like the red top version and the bee is really a nice accent.

Great culottes outfits! I'm enjoying seeing how you work the red top into your outfits.

    I love your bee pendant.

Love everything about both of these Deborah, you look so comfortable, and so stylish.  That red really is wonderful on you.

Love the culottes outfit and great idea to change the chain on your bee pendant. Suits you perfectly now!

Gorgeous presto change-o! And I have a deep longing for black culottes to wear in the classroom. Top of mt 2015 list!!

Outstanding, Deborah! And love the bee pendant :)

I always love your clothes! If we were on the same season and in the country I would probably be your copy cat on a lot of items. I even went on the Metalicus website because that T looks so perfect...got all excited when I saw the currency converter...but the $25 shipping gave me pause.

Really love the bee. Did you know that bees were once considered sacred...divine messengers between the earth and the heavens?

Ooh, both outfits are fab! The shade of red in your first top is just gorgeous and I love the bee pendant with it. I'm not surprised you love those culottes, they love you right back!

Pssst, I don't know if you've noticed, but you are not Modern Classic anymore! :D

I love the oversized red top on you. It works really well with the culottes. The edgy block heels work really well with this outfit. The bee necklace looks great with it's new leather strap. It's the perfect finishing touch!

It's been such fun and quite an education to watch your style progress, Deborah. I am super jealous that your wardrobe is working so well for you right now. I want some of that, please!

I am glad you like my bee!  I am excited to be wearing it again.  I think it could become one of my signature pieces?

Peri, how cool if we could go shopping together!!  Can I encourage you re Metalicus. I would watch for their frequent on line sales (they often do 30% off) and then the shipping wouldn't be so bad.  It would be worth it.  My Metalicus clothing is so worth the money.  They wash well, wear well ad I can't wear them enough (I have two more items winging their way to me at moment) and I am eyeing the Columbus Tee in black. I also feel many of their styles have longevity.   If I can assist in any way at any time let me know.

Claire, its funny, I have always been inclined towards this style of dressing but in the early days here I guess I got caught up in 'fitting in' and trying all the trends.  I think slowly realizing that I was accepted and welcome regardless of my style preferences  and this then facilitated my recent journey to really discovering who I am stylistically speaking:) And you are right!  I think in some respects Modern Classic might be at the very foundation of my style, and I don't feel the Elegant Eclectic descriptor applies any longer.  I quite like the descriptor Chic Avant Garde :)  I realise I am not avant garde in the truest sense of the term but my style is definitely more fringe and alternate than that of what is the cutural norm here.  And let me say that your minimal wardrobe has been a huge inspiration.  The biggest thing for me has been identifying some labels that totally work for me.  I limit my browsing now and only look at these few brands... it has really helped.

I love your style! And yes, chic avant garde is a great descriptor for you. Both outfits are gorgeous, and so is that necklace. How nice that it has special meaning. Isn't it wonderful to be able to swap out an item or two to make an outfit "after school ready?" The outfits I am able to do that with always make me super happy.
