FYI: Fab Shirt Dress

Hi Fabbers,

Witchery are an Australian brand and they do ship overseas so I thought I would share.  And of course I thought this might be of interest to my fellow Aussie fabbers (Lyn D??).

Saw this lovely shirt dress in store yesterday.  Did not have time for a try on but the fabric felt lovely and the length looked quite good.  Great colour and love how the fabric at the back falls.  Haven't seen many shirt dresses sans collar so this is of interest to me.

Holiday Capsule or Lucky Dip?

Hi Ladies:)

DH, Master 11, Dexter (our dog) and I are on mini break and arrived in the seaside town of Torquay this afternoon. We are here for 5 days. Poor Dexie doesn't travel well...need I say more lol.

I frequently read with interest all the wonderful holiday capsules you put together, but I seem a little challenged in either the capsule department or in the ability to actually think through what to pack. Being a bit of a mood dresser, I do find it difficult to plan outfits in advance.

So as usual I am pretty much winging it.

Here's what I packed.

2 x cocoon cardigans (black) - 1 a warmer weight, the other lighter
1 x leather jacket
5 x pants (white skinny jeans, black skinny jeans, black slouchy pants, harem leggings, regular leggings for under the dress and / or tunic)
1 x black dress (sleeveless)
1 x black tunic (sleeveless)
7 x toppers (including lightweight sweaters in black and grey, and a mix of sleeveless and lightweight sleeved tops in black, grey and cobalt!)
6 x footwear including one pair of walking shoes
2 x handbags

Looking at the numbers I feel I have over packed but my little assignment will be recording what I actually do wear and how good I felt, or otherwise, in the outfits I can put together with these pieces.

For context, our weather is all over the place at the moment. It was 31 when we left Bendigo, 24 when we got to Torquay and the next few days expected to be between 18 to 25 degrees celcius. So I don't need really warm clothing but it's still not hot enough for true summer clothing. Being by the water, it also gets quite cool in the evenings.

For some inexplicable reason, I always think I need "holiday" clothes and end up dressing in things that just don't make me happy. So this time I have my "regular" clothing in my "regular" combinations with me and using things like my footwear to create a more casual feel. I have some of my Metalicus pieces with me which I would usually think are too "good" or too "dressy" for "holiday activities" so I will be assessing how that works for me also. Funny thing is I I did buy a pair of black and white patterned relaxed pants with the little holiday in mind...and I forgot to pack them lol.

Anyway, #1 is what I have here with me, and #2 a shot of my footwear for the 5 days.

Internet permitting (I will be hot spotting from my phone), I will be reading and commenting as usual.

Love to hear what our seasoned capsule experts think of my lucky dip capsule, and any advice for future trips away:)

Kimono Jacket. Search

Hi Ladies,

I have been looking for a kimono jacket for probably the past two years. Bought two last year and promptly ebayed them as they just were not right.

Have just come across this on line. I don't usually do fringes. However I find this strangely appealing, and it would only be worn over black (and possibly my white jeans).

What do you think? Is the fringing too much. Is it too "young" looking, or could it potentially work for me?

Thanks for taking a look.

WIW : White Jeans..rolled!

Hi Fabbers,

Blame it on the pain medication! I had a truth (Woops that should be tooth) extracted yesterday;).

I have been watching and learning from all the white jeans posts and gave it a go today. In the mirror you could see the ankle strap of my sandals but I noted in the photos that you couldn't so I adjusted the roll a little but didn't take more pics. The ankle strap is black.

Wearing skinny white jeans rolled under a new Metalicus dress. It's the Dali Tank Dress in a wool/cashmere blend. It feels beautiful. It has a high low hem and is very easy to dress up or down.

As some of you know rolled jeans are some thing that I really struggle with, and after trying on few different pairs of shoes, it became evident that the ankle strap is an important part of making the rolled look work (for me).

Keeping in mind I adjusted the roll, does this work for me?

Appreciate your thoughts.

Raw Hem On Jeans?

Now this is my idea of hemming ones jeans! I put off hemming new jeans for forever! But is this a look that only really works for cool bloggers? Would you do this? Could I do this? I need to hem my white skinnies and I actually considered doing this (before I saw the pic).

What do you think?

One Out...Two In

Hmmm I think I got the 1 in 1 out policy a little wrong!

I am farewelling my trusty Shooties after three Summers together. At the time they were more of a "make do" shoe as I couldn't find exactly what I wanted. I ended up really enjoying them and they have been well worn. Looking a little worse for wear and a bit out of shape I realized when I got them out for the coming summer that it really was time to replace them.

Had my eye on a replacement pair which are the exact style I was looking for, only to find when I went in store to try them on that they were reduced AND they had the same shoe in a taupe (called Fawn). Need I say more?!

Farewell my little shooties, you served me well, and welcome Emilia x 2 into my wardrobe;)

PS. Have I mentioned before just how much I like shoes??!

WIW: On A Fab Day

Hi Fabbers!

It's been one of those great days! Community Meal was amazing and provided an opportunity to meet a significant need for one of our guests (tears and emotion from him and me lol) and then 2 hours live on community radio with my good friend. Feeling a little hyped now:)

We are having cool mornings and warm afternoons, so I took the opportunity to wear my leather/suede leggings possibly for the last time this year with a black top and a new cocoon cardigan. The cardigan is a lighter weight and more summer appropriate than my other one (hence having the two).

Thought I would show you my earrings. Silver Tree of Life set in clear resin. I don't normally go for whimsical jewellery but I think they work. I really like them:)

I enjoyed wearing this and felt great all day.

Thank for you for looking, Comments, suggestions and critique all appreciated.

WIW: Just Flattering Enough?

Happy Sunday Fabbers!

I had two church services to attend today.  One was ours and the other later in the day was a friend's church where their son (a good friend of Master 11) was being baptized.

I was feeling like a little drama (all black unconventional silhouette), a touch of femininity (red flower clutch) and a subtle lady like, but still with edge, vibe (D'orsay flats).

The outfit I realise is not particularly conventionally flattering but I think it actually looks much better in movement, rather than a still photo.  The outfit is very fluid but I think the streamlined look of the skirt and the flats add enough structure?

The top is the Metalicus Marlini Drape Top and the skirt is from Laura Ashley. The flats I bought at the end of last Summer from Target.  I love what the pointed toe and slender line of the shoe does for my legs with a long skirt.:)

Do you think this is flattering enough?

Your comments and thoughts always very much appreciated.

WIW: Cover Orange!

Hi Ladies,

While my love for black is a consuming passion, occasionally I feel the urge to work a colour into my wardrobe. I have two other things in deep orange and coral. I like my colours deep rather than bright.

This tshirt dress is a similar design to my Metalicus dress but not the same quality, however it's quite a nice fabric.

I bought this to wear casually in the warmer weather. I will be looking for a draped sleeveless black tank with a v neck to wear over it with bare legs and birk-a-likes:) i thought it might be fun to wear on warm weekends and holidays (we are going on a beach holiday end of October).

It was warm today, so I wore leggings with it. The afternoon warmed up and I removed the leggings and I do prefer it with bare legs (camera battery went flat before I could get pics).

So my question is does it work and do you think I can wear this colour! DH was a little surprised to see me not wearing all black..it was funny:).

I know I'm looking a little worse for wear lol, dental appointment this morning after a week of pain (I was in denial) confirmed I have a minor infection and need an x ray and an extraction next week:(.

Thanks so much for taking the time to look.

Ps. Anyone addicted to the game Cover Orange? We loved it.

Vegan Leather Pants???

Hi Fabbers,

Apologies, slow day at the office and I will try not to bombard you with too many posts today:)

Can someone tell me the difference between vegan leather and pleather?  Doing a little research online suggests that Vegan Leather is simply a 'cooler' moniker for faux or fake leather??

I get that technically it is supposed to be made from non animal products and Vegan leather is supposed to be eco friendly (the PVC versions are not).

I have noticed on many blogs, bloggers referencing their vegan leather items in a manner that suggests they are really cool :)

Educate me.. please?

Of course, I do have a deeper reason for asking... I just bought a pair of vegan leather pants!!  So much for not buying anything else this month ha ha.  Will be posting K/R as they were a whim and I am not sure:)
