WIW: Cover Orange!

Hi Ladies,

While my love for black is a consuming passion, occasionally I feel the urge to work a colour into my wardrobe. I have two other things in deep orange and coral. I like my colours deep rather than bright.

This tshirt dress is a similar design to my Metalicus dress but not the same quality, however it's quite a nice fabric.

I bought this to wear casually in the warmer weather. I will be looking for a draped sleeveless black tank with a v neck to wear over it with bare legs and birk-a-likes:) i thought it might be fun to wear on warm weekends and holidays (we are going on a beach holiday end of October).

It was warm today, so I wore leggings with it. The afternoon warmed up and I removed the leggings and I do prefer it with bare legs (camera battery went flat before I could get pics).

So my question is does it work and do you think I can wear this colour! DH was a little surprised to see me not wearing all black..it was funny:).

I know I'm looking a little worse for wear lol, dental appointment this morning after a week of pain (I was in denial) confirmed I have a minor infection and need an x ray and an extraction next week:(.

Thanks so much for taking the time to look.

xxxDeborah

Ps. Anyone addicted to the game Cover Orange? We loved it.

I love me oranges, and it's definetely a great color and fit on you, Debs! The dress is still so you, no matter the non black kind of it:-). Love it layered with black for colder weathers, but it will look stunning with bare legs, too. I'm not sure I understood how will you layer it with a tank for summer so I'm eager to see that one when weather permits! Great adventure in the world of colors:-), I say do it fearless!

Deborah - this is so stunning on you!!  Love the orange with the black.  Very similiar, to my eye, to  your metalicus dress and you wear this style so well.  Like it was made for you.  So sorry you are under the weather.  Good luck with the extraction, ouch!!, but the important thing is to feel better and be well!!  Take care of youself, dental workand infections are so traumatic and upsetting, but know you look divine!!  Hugs!!

Wow! I was intrigued by the thumbnail and clicked and to my surprise it was you in color!  I love this color on you.  This is such an interesting orange that it doesn't seem orange and looks almost as cool as black.  Will check out the game...always looking for fun new games.

This is a really beautiful orange Deborah. I quite like this on you - the depth is exactly right, and I had never thought about that with regards to a colour like this until you mentioned it . Good lesson here , thanks ! My own inclination would be to wear the dress with bare legs, but I'm interested in your addition of leggings here.

Orange is the new Black! Hahaha, do you watch that?

Seriously, this is fab. Gorgeous dress. Of course, I share your love for orange too.

You have no idea how happy I am to see you wear colour, Debs. I can barely  type from excitement.

Killer dress a billion times over. XOXOXO

Orange is my favourite colour and you wear it so so well. Adding a dose of black keeps it very you.

  • suzanne replied 9 years ago

    Wow.
Yes, the color looks great on you. I'm guessing the bare legs also looked very good. The dress works really well with your blackwear.

You just colorized the snapshot we see of your life. Seems like you may just have entered Oz.

    You look beautiful.

Deborah,  You are always an inspiration.  Wonderful and fun!

I absolutely love this combo. And it's not even just the colour (though that is fab, too), but the way the draping extends from the curved hem of the sweater - just lovely. You look great!

  • citygirldc replied 9 years ago

Deborah, although I love you in black (because I love black too), it's really nice to see an unexpected splash of color. The curved him so flattering and different. Love this outfit.

  • Lyn D. replied 9 years ago

    Well, I am speechless too!
Where did you find this unusual colour amongst all the black (sorry) and white and hectic florals I am seeing this Spring?
This looks amazing Deborah, and I can imagine that it makes your blue eyes pop, as mine are seeing you in this Fab dress :) :)

Love the vibrant color --- and it's nice to have something bright for the warmer months, particularly.  I'd love it with booties, even cut out booties when the weather it warmer.  How would capri length leggings look with the dress?  I'm thinking the skin on the lower leg would balance the sleeveless look on warmer days.

    Gorgeous, seriously amazing!

    So. Fabulous.

  • Aida replied 9 years ago

    WELL.

Add me to the speechless group!

Now that is one fabulous dress and you look amazing in color!! Cobalt I'm barely counting because it's dark and close to black, but this orange. WOW. Love it on you! Only slightly biased, as orange is my favorite color color ;) Looks really nice with the black, though I prefer it with extra skin showing because it's acting as a white in that case. I tend to like my orange+black pairings with a healthy dose of white mixed in; of course in your case your hair also acts as a "white". I think this is the "artiest" orange I've seen :D

Thank you so much everyone! I felt a little conspicuous initially but relaxed into the colour. There is something about certain deeper solid tones that create a similar vibe to black for me. Dark red is another.

Master 11 told me he didn't like it, but then explained his least favourite teacher sometimes wears this colur!

Lyn D the dress is from Valley Girl:). They "knock off" some interesting designs from time to time and I find their tshirt fabric is often quite good for the price. My cream tunic is from Valley Girl also.

    Gorgeous! Stunning! Beautiful! WOW.

  • columbine(erin) replied 9 years ago

Wow! Falling over in shock because Deborah is wearing a color besides black and blue! love the drapey aesthetic on you! The color is a great saturation for you too.

  • abc replied 9 years ago

    Color + Deborah = sensational !!!!

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Another rendered speechless with the fabness of this orange on you. It would also look wonderful with grey for spring.

  • Neel replied 9 years ago

I just saw your pic on the sidebar and I had to click on it! You look amazing! Wow! I love it with the leggings and I suspect I would love it more without it. What a beautiful dress and color on you!

  • kellygirl replied 9 years ago

Stunning! Does that answer your question? Perhaps orange is the new black for you!

  • Adelfa replied 9 years ago

It looks so natural on you. Amazing.

  • CocoLion replied 9 years ago

Fabulous!  Love the two tunics from Valley Girl -- such great style down under!!!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

Wow, Deborah! I'm surprised at how well you wear orange. It looks like a slightly soft shade, on my screen; perhaps that's how it's so flattering to your skin and hair. The dress is gorgeous on you. I slightly prefer it without the black top over it, but mostly because I like seeing the full drape of the dress. The other tunic you show here from Valley Girl is awesome, too. You have a knack for finding great brands and designers that suit your style.

  • Missey replied 9 years ago

That shade of orange is absolutely gorgeous on you!  The dress shape is drapey and and perfect.  What a wonderful piece...you wear it well!

  • Sveta replied 9 years ago

Deborah in orange! The sky is falling down for sure! :-)
Love this vibrant hue on you  Deb. I am not sure I like this dress with the black leggings without the sweater on top though but understand the need for warmth.

  • Sara L. replied 9 years ago

The dress is beautiful and it looks great the way you've styled it.  I have to admit though, that at this time of year, black and orange together instantly make me think Halloween.

  • Elizabeth P replied 9 years ago

This is beautiful on you Deborah. Gorgeous drape. I do find the full length leggings a bit heavy for the sleeveless version, would love to see it with Capri leggings or bare legged.

Good luck with the tooth :(. Extraction sounds serious! No way a healthy dose of antibiotics and a root canal will do the trick? I only ask because that is how an infection I had a few years ago was managed.

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Thanks Elizabeth:)  The tooth is kind of not functioning and root canal would be a very expensive option and there would be not guarantee.  It's a moler right at the back so I won't miss it.

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

Oh dear about the tooth, but gorgeous about the dress!
