WIW: Just Flattering Enough?

Happy Sunday Fabbers!

I had two church services to attend today.  One was ours and the other later in the day was a friend's church where their son (a good friend of Master 11) was being baptized.

I was feeling like a little drama (all black unconventional silhouette), a touch of femininity (red flower clutch) and a subtle lady like, but still with edge, vibe (D'orsay flats).

The outfit I realise is not particularly conventionally flattering but I think it actually looks much better in movement, rather than a still photo.  The outfit is very fluid but I think the streamlined look of the skirt and the flats add enough structure?

The top is the Metalicus Marlini Drape Top and the skirt is from Laura Ashley. The flats I bought at the end of last Summer from Target.  I love what the pointed toe and slender line of the shoe does for my legs with a long skirt.:)

Do you think this is flattering enough?

Your comments and thoughts always very much appreciated.

xxx Deborah

    Your poses are adorable Deborah!

As always your skin, hair and lip-colour balance what could be dark and heavy on most beautifully :)

That skirt is such an interesting shape, and not what springs to mind hearing L.A.
Yes, there is structure here along with playfulness and femininity abounding!

With that hair you could wear anything and look great. It's so sharp and modern it takes away any hint of grannyville from a less structured outfit and that handbag totally works. The comment re hair and makeup from lyn d. Is spot on, it lifts The outfit to daytime. Did I mention I LOVE that handbag?

Lyn and Uggbootdiva, thank you.  I am having a challenging time with my hair at the moment, not sure if I should just tweak the short style or grow it a little longer again.  And there is a bit of damage that it making styling a task.  Your lovely comments make me think it may not be as bad as i think it is lol.. always our own worst critic right?

Hmmm...somewhere lurking in my closet is bound to be something that looks as wonderful as your Sunday selection...smile...I love your black, swingy skirt, top...Your hair makes the perfect book-end...and the red clutch is just the cherry on the top of it all...Thank you for sharing you look fab as always..

So I think this outfit is all about movement and drama and agree with you it is not photographing as fab as it must look in real life.  Love the pop of red and the shoes are great.

I love it, Deborah! I think the silhouette is great and I love the flats with the skirt. And the red clutch is so much fun.

You look very chic. This is flattering enough, I am sure that with movement it probably looks very flattering. I also love that red bag with with the black.

    Deborah you look perfect.

Your hair, lips, clutch, and pointy shoes (and skin) add just enough structure so it looks flattering to my eye. :)  Also I can see how part of the skirt is bodycon(?) so would move with you in a great way.

I think this outfit is more than JFE - even in still life, you can tell it is beautifully fluid and most likely "swishes" when you walk. The pointy flats are brilliant with it and I adore the edgy clutch.

  • replied 9 years ago

Add me to the list of admirers of this one!  I think this is absolutely JFE, and in the truest sense of the term, from my understanding of it.  Everything here in terms of your hair, makeup, and skin , then the shoes and bag , take the look into killer (not my term to use, but hey, why not!) territory.  The flats are unexpected yet totally work here.  I also can't believe that's a Laura Ashley skirt - cool!

you are so consistently authentic to your style, while continuing to look new and current. I lust your shoes...

I think your 'just flattering enough' would equal my 'most flattering ever'

  • lyn67 replied 9 years ago

Your hair it's perfect, and the outfit a strong statement! Brilliant, cannot add more than that! YLF+K2K! Really:-)

  • Hil replied 9 years ago

Really love it Deb - It's inspiring me to create something similar.

  • catgirl replied 9 years ago

Deborah, I don;'t think this is any less flattering than your other outfits!  You wear this look so well, and I think those of us who love volume may have an unconventional starting point for "flattering" from the get-go.  Rock it!

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Thank you very much ladies!  I will be wearing this again :)

rabbit, yes the skirt is no so much body con but certainly straight and semi fitted with a cross over at the front.

Elizabeth, I think we share a love of similar stylings :)

Hil, look forward to seeing what you put together:)

    What ag said :)

I like the shape of the dress on you very much, Deborah. I also enjoyed the poses. I often wish we could see models sitting so I could know what a garment would look like when seated.

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

This is a beautiful style and you wear it well. It's extremely flattering!

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

    Beautiful! Very flattering too!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

Oh, yes, very flattering! This is a beautiful look, Deborah. I sound like a broken record, but it truly is. The bag is such a lovely surprise with it. And you are right, the shoes are definitely flattering on you; the cool straight-vamped d'Orsay  style makes the flat heel work with this outfit. I enjoyed your poses, too.

The arty edge that you bring to your outfits are always flattering! I am a big fan of your stylings! YLF!

  • Lucy replied 9 years ago

Gorgeous! You look lovely, and I adore the splash of colour. More than flattering enough!

  • krishnidoux replied 9 years ago

"Just flattering enough"??? What do you mean? You look stunning in this! And it must be even more spectacular in movement.
The choice of shoes is also very nice with this So s the hair. Nobody would no that you are struggling with it now. I'd say keep it trimmed, at that length or even shorter, but keep the long locks in the front.

  • Lantana replied 9 years ago

There's a lot of structure to this from the skin/fabric contrast points. The pointy flats provide a counter foil to the drape. It looks good Deborah and your hair looks super.

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

Definitely JFE. Looks gorgeous and very fashionable.

  • replied 9 years ago

Super stylish, Deborah! I love that neckline, especially with your "new" hair. The top-over-skirt almost gives the effect of a dropped waistline, which I think is quite flattering on you. Also, love the big clutch!.
