Shop With Me:) ETA .. one more

Hi Ladies,

Three more days and my shopping fast is over:)

When I get a chance I will share some of the revelations I have had during this time of no shopping but for now I am looking at what I would like to add to my closet for Spring / Summer.  I have shifted a little over the last month... away from the idea of my fave overseas designers to focusing more on local brands and designers and I am keen to add more Metalicus to my wardrobe.  Quality is excellent, prices are manageable and they produce  a lot of modern, simple looks that work for me and would have longevity in my closet :)

So looking at the following and would appreciate your thoughts.

# 1  Marlini Drape Skirt in black
   - this 'matches' my Drape top (#2) but could be a very versatile skirt over the
next warmer months. (For those who may recall, I was thinking of
duplicating the top in #2, in blue, but I have decided against it)

# 3 / #4 Kahlo Draped Jacket in Navy

This is a stunning and easy to wear jacket that I have been eyeing for a
while.  LynD tried it on last time we shopped together and it did look
        stunning.

# 5 / #6 Donatello Tunic
A wildcard item perhaps?  I have noticed I am craving a little 'light' in my
S/S wardrobe but can I wear that stripe?   I am pretty sure this pattern
would just make me look like a big block?

ETA:

#7  Wite Navy Shirt Dress that I have been eyeing for a while also.  This is now
reduced and at a good price.  Still pondering the suitability of the collared
dress, but the collar is quite small and the fabric soft and drapey:)  This is
one of those garments that could easily become a go to on a warm
day, going between the airconditioned office and outside quite easily.
Pop on the dress, shoes and go:)

I am in no hurry to spend my saved $$ but I do have a voucher AND there is an extra 25% of sale items at the moment.   The skirt and jacket are on sale.

Thanks for looking and letting me know what you think:)
xxx Deborah

No Shop Sept Update!

Hi Ladies,

I have come straight from the shops to my computer to confess!!

Today I bought a pair of drapey black tapered track pants.

Let me explain:)  I am styling a fashion parade this Friday night (we have been working on it for a couple of months - it's a fundraiser) and I am providing stying services after the parade as the guests (hopefully) shop.  There is still a lot to do so I want to be organised and know what I am wearing to avoid any last minute meltdowns :)  I am aiming for an outfit that is comfortable, elegant and modern. So I'm thinking my new Metalicus Marlini Drape top over a slim pair of pants (not jeans) with a probably my wedge heel, open toe booties.

#1 is the top.

#2 is not the pant, but similar as I couldn't find mine on line.

I tried my spring weight slouchy pants this morning and after extensive wear over the past two years they are looking seriously sad.  And with all my purging my Spring/Summer pants selection is pretty slim.

I do have the following that could work:

black slim leg tailored cut pants
black harem leggings (the setting and audience is very conservative)
black cross over draped pants (these are cool but a bit cheap I would prefer quality for this event)

Also for the purposes of the evening I feel it would be appropriate to skew a little trendy rather than too alternate.

I do still need to try the new pants on at home with the top to make sure it all works as I think it will.  I can return them if they don't.  I feel a silhouette of oversized over a slim drape pant rather than a slim tailored pant is more current.

So....

  • if I keep these, the other pair will be on their way out.
  • there is no question they will be a workhorse both for the office and casual
  • they were seriously marked down
  • this has not impacted my budgeted savings for this month as they were paid for out of my incidentals /"pocket" money - ie. a few less take away chai lattes over the next two weeks :)

The positive for me in all of this, is that I don't feel bad or guilty.  I am still on track to have a certain amount of money put away at the end of the month and this was not a rash or emotional purchase.  I feel in control and actually gave myself permission to buy them after weighing up the pros and cons.  I will still expect to see the rest of the month through with no further shopping.

Thanks, and I hope I am forgiven.

Angie's Shirt Dress

Browsing shirt dresses on line this evening and came across this gorgeous one, at David Jones by Wite, that looks very similar to Angie's Topshop Dress. I'm assuming it's a poly but it looks lovely.

Thought my Aussie sisters, in particular, might be interested.

May have to keep an eye on this for the end of my shopping fast:)

Summer Dresses

Unfortunately I missed out in the Metalicus dress I was planning to buy, but I decided it wasn't meant, and the fact that I hesitated to push the buy button when I had the chance suggests it was probably for the best.

But I have discovered a new brand called Layer'd and have ordered this dress (#1) tonight. The colour is described as pewter and looks a gorgeous tone. The look is a little complexgeometries but a little cheaper and no outrageous shipping g costs:)

Fingers crossed:)

K/R Black Ankle boots

Hi Fabbers,

As per an earlier real time post today, I bought these boots while out grocery shopping with DH. They are a little reminiscent of the Acne Pistol Boots which I have always quietly coveted:)

So here they are for your consideration.

In the earlier post (where I wasn't wearing them), Shannon asked it if I needed them, Anna mentioned that her Pistols hug her ankle and Gigi pointed out that the round toe can be quite stumpifying...all really excellent points to consider.

So, they are more of a want than a need, however I wear my Hush Puppies Black ankle boots all the time. They have a wedge heel that is about 4 to 5 cm high, a round toe and I adore them. At Winters end I will be taking them to the shoe man for a "service". I have been wanting a second black ankle boot with a higher heel and a slightly different look. These have a heel of 7.5cm, are comfy and quite sleek but still a little more substantial than the HP's.

These don't quite hug my ankle, but I am ok with that. I have skinny ankles and don't mind some room as long as it is not too much. And I have included side shots to check out the length. What do you think?

I have photographed them with leggings as this is how I would frequently wear them. I may wear them with a bare leg and dress in Spring. Please excuse my legs! I forgot I had my leggings tucked into my sock hose because I have been wearing OTK boots today and it stops the legging pulling up when I put the boots on...took me a minute to work out what was going on with my legs in the pics lol.

I think I am keeping them, so please let me know if you think I shouldn't.

They also had the same boot in a camel tone *sigh* so tempted! but keep telling myself the colour is too warm for me;)

Thanks for your thoughts, and for taking a look.

Are you fatigued by the season?

Hi Fabbers,

As much as I love winter, we have a period which I suppose is the coldest where I feel like I am only able to wear a small portion of my winter clothing, ie. the warmest garments, and as a result boredom/fatigue tends to set in. I have been rotating warm bottoms like ponte leggings, jersey leggings, and jeans and a limited number of tops and jackets and scarves, and I am so over it:)

So today I gave myself permission to have a browse and see if I could add a couple of fresh pieces to my wardrobe to get me through to Spring.

Came home with the black cocoon cardigan #1 (I can layer under, and pop a coat on over if needed) which is something I did want to add to my wardrobe, so not entirely a spontaneous decision. This has now gone into my wardrobe and two older cardigans are out. 1 in 2 out...woohoo.

And I am thinking about trying these jeans (#2) tomorrow. A slight variation to my other black pair with their PU panel and slimmer leg.

Both are sale items and won't hurt the budget and will carry on into Spring easily.

What do you think?

And do you experience this toward the end of the season? Any season in particular? I recall I get this way about our never ending summers too.
What do you do to manage it?

"Birk" Like @ Target

Well you know when something is trending big time when it's sold out before the season has arrived :)

I am considering the Birkenstock Arizona in smooth black leather and I wouldn't mind the white also:)  I am sure I will be able to get them but my usual on line shoe sites are sold out in my size.

So while browsing I saw that Target has a version also.  They don't look quite as nice, are not leather and the sole doesn't look that supportive but I will drop by to take a look just out of interest.  At there price I could treat myself to both the black and white and not break the budget... but I think I want leather!

Those of you who have bought the Arizona Birks or versions by other retailers, how are you liking them?  They are $139.00 AUD, not sure how that compares with overseas pricing... are they worth it?

ps.. found my size:)

Why I Shouldn't Leave the Office @ Lunchtime

I enjoyed reading Shannon's post this morning

http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ersonality

and recognised some elements in myself as I read.  I have become much more disciplined and now plan my purchases, research them, consider them etc etc but sometimes I just want a new little something (let's not get into how often I want a new little something lol).  It's exciting, it's fun, it can give birth to a series of new outfit ideas and I admit it makes me feel good!

So.... popped out at lunch for a wander, as one does, and came back to the office with this faux leather raw edge waterfall jacket.  This is one of those spontaneous purchases that I really enjoy.  On sale, only one in my size and something I have been wanting:)  The zippers are gold but I thought I would try the YFL black sharpie pen trick??

Anyway, my only reservation was that it's not leather.  I have become a bit of a snob!  Which is funny because I only own one actual leather jacket, my multi media pieces are all faux.  I worry that faux looks 'cheap'.  What do you think of faux leather in general?  I realise it comes in varying qualities, as does leather.  Do you wear it?  Yes, No and why?

Thanks
Deborah
