Shop With Me:) ETA .. one more

Hi Ladies,

Three more days and my shopping fast is over:)

When I get a chance I will share some of the revelations I have had during this time of no shopping but for now I am looking at what I would like to add to my closet for Spring / Summer.  I have shifted a little over the last month... away from the idea of my fave overseas designers to focusing more on local brands and designers and I am keen to add more Metalicus to my wardrobe.  Quality is excellent, prices are manageable and they produce  a lot of modern, simple looks that work for me and would have longevity in my closet :)

So looking at the following and would appreciate your thoughts.

# 1  Marlini Drape Skirt in black
   - this 'matches' my Drape top (#2) but could be a very versatile skirt over the
next warmer months. (For those who may recall, I was thinking of
duplicating the top in #2, in blue, but I have decided against it)

# 3 / #4 Kahlo Draped Jacket in Navy

This is a stunning and easy to wear jacket that I have been eyeing for a
while.  LynD tried it on last time we shopped together and it did look
        stunning.

# 5 / #6 Donatello Tunic
A wildcard item perhaps?  I have noticed I am craving a little 'light' in my
S/S wardrobe but can I wear that stripe?   I am pretty sure this pattern
would just make me look like a big block?

ETA:

#7  Wite Navy Shirt Dress that I have been eyeing for a while also.  This is now
reduced and at a good price.  Still pondering the suitability of the collared
dress, but the collar is quite small and the fabric soft and drapey:)  This is
one of those garments that could easily become a go to on a warm
day, going between the airconditioned office and outside quite easily.
Pop on the dress, shoes and go:)

I am in no hurry to spend my saved $$ but I do have a voucher AND there is an extra 25% of sale items at the moment.   The skirt and jacket are on sale.

Thanks for looking and letting me know what you think:)
xxx Deborah

#3-#4 made my eyes pop. It is SO perfect for you, Deborah. I could see you in any of these pieces, but #3 just seems a very slight departure from what you normally wear, and yet seems entirely YOU at the same time. You would look GORGEOUS in that jacket.

  • SarahTheWhite replied 9 years ago

Wow, these are all incredible! I can picture you in them all. I think it is wonderful how you have taken the time to distill your choices down to such a special selection. That jacket is too gorgeous for words. The details are just so great. I would love to see the dress on you. I personally think that the shape and pattern would be great on you, but I do know from experience that sometimes I just can't tell until I try it on - it can be the smallest things that make it either spectacular or just so-so. I can't wait to see what you get and what works out! :-)

  • Neel replied 9 years ago

The skirt and jacket are gorgeous! And I can see you rock them. Great selections! As about the striped dress .... What can I say ..... I love stripes :). It is nothing like you already own, but then that is what a wildcard is ... Right? You should surely try :)

  • fuzzylogic replied 9 years ago

Great picks, Deborah!  I can see you rocking all of these!!!!

  • Sharon replied 9 years ago

That jacket is all kinds of awesome, and I think the skirt will be very versatile.

Not sure about the tunic -this reads as brown to me, which isn't a colour I have seen you wear before. It looks like it would be cool and comfortable for summer, but I think the deciding factor will be how the fabric drapes. You definitely need to try it on and post pictures for us!

  • Astrid replied 9 years ago

I love the jacket! And I think the skirt would be a great versatile piece. I'm with Sharon on the dress, I think we'd have to see you in it.

  • cheryle (Dianthus) replied 9 years ago

I want the jacket myself and see it working really well for you Deborah.  The draped skirt is also very nice for you.  I too am a bit on the fence about the tunic.  I am sure you would style it beautifully but it is a departure so I am having trouble envisioning it with your style.

The shirtdress is very nice too and if it drapes well, would be great.  Lisa posted a pic with a dress that has a similar look last week.

I'm really not sure about the tunic or dress, would need to see them on you. Yes to the skirt, it should be flattering and versatile. OMG the jacket is awesome, you MUST get it, so that I can enjoy watching you wear it!

  • Sheila replied 9 years ago

I love the cut of the jacket ! Very dramatic and figure flattering ... awesome!

The printed tunic... love the length. You would have to try it to see how it fell though. I like it even though I am not usually a fan of horizontal patterns... it looks like lovely material and very sophisticated. Very you !

  • frannieb replied 9 years ago

#3 is beyond awesome. I can see it working so well in your wardrobe and I like the idea  you adding more navy blue to your wardrobe.

  • catgirl replied 9 years ago

Love them all but ESPECIALLY the jacket!  Have you tried it yourself?

  • Beth Ann replied 9 years ago

I love the pattern in the dress -- I think the pattern is visually strong enough that it won't widen you -- it draws the eye directly into it, not across it, if that makes sense.  Of course, I find the scale of prints is different on every body, and you never know until you've got in on.

I also love the jacket, although it's hard to see the fabric and construction.  Sometimes the fabric in an item like this is too lightweight to provide a smooth fit.  This item is very unique.

The skirt and top are right up your alley --- as long as you don't already have items much like them.  Of course, perhaps duplicates are in order -- as replacements or to avoid that ...... "Oh no, it's in the wash" moment.

  • Susie replied 9 years ago

If I didn't know, I would have guessed that you already had the skirt in your wardrobe! So, yes, that one is you! The jacket is so fab and looks perfect for you. I think the stripe dress could go either way so would need to see it on. but I believe it could look lovely on you. The stripes could be a nice refresher. I think I prefer that one to the navy, because of the collar, but the blue would be gorgeous on you so definitely worth a try. Please show us!

  • TraceyLiz65 replied 9 years ago

I love all of these and particularly am partial to #3.  I think the wavy chevron lines might help what worries you about stripes, but of course trying it on is the only way to tell.. It's definitely worth looking into.
I wonder what Angie's response is to longevity of  the shirt dress?

  • replied 9 years ago

All of these pieces are really beautiful Deborah- and I like your thoughts on supporting local/regional brands. I try to do this myself when I can ! Of course I am particularly attracted to the jacket because of the draping and fitted look . I can on;y imagine how flattering this is on. That patterned dress is interesting - I like it too, and would love to see it on you . These are all great pieces - hope they work for you!

  • Lyn D. replied 9 years ago

Oh, this is FUN Deborah- but not as much as actually shopping with you IRL :)
Yes, that jacket is quite special, and would be perfect for your dressier style- have you tried it on yet?
The Wite shirt-dress is on my October check-out list too!
The Metalicus stripy one I have tried-on- the length was too short for me- but better for you.
I would consider it a good one to wear with a topper, you would need to consider if the colour is right too. Drat- light brown booties like those Aldi one's would probably go well with it :)
I admire your restraint re the Marlini top, AND for making it through this month without shopping. Looking forward to your thoughts and discoveries during the process x

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Lyn! I just pm'd you about the jacket. Thanks for the feedback on the striped dress:). The shirt dress is $55.00 at DJ's now. Birdsnest and The Iconic also have it but still at full price. It would look lovely on you:).

  • Sal replied 9 years ago

I love the jacket too. And I think the tunic dress could be a fun addition of pattern and a light colour. I am more on the fence with the shirt dress but I was scarred by my experience trying something similar on.....LisaP and Angie looked great in theirs though.

I think the black skirt is divine but also would have sworn you already had one?

I think all the pieces are true to your style and aesthetic.

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Kiwigal, I do have a similar skirt in a winter eight fabric:). Too heavy for our summers;)

  • Lucy replied 9 years ago

I am entranced with that jacket! So beautiful and very you. Must get! I also love the skirt, and can see you wearing it in 100 ways. Metalicus is the bomb!

I don't really like the shirt dress overly. It might skip over from just-flattering-enough to not-so-flattering. I love the stripes myself, but I guess it is a departure from your usual finely honed style. Something that can be good, or an orphan!

Can't wait to see you wear some of these :)

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Thanks for all your input:). I'm two days out from the end of my shopping fast but I have gone ahead and ordered as stocks for the skirt are low and it's no longer available on line. I have ordered the skirt and the navy jacket. Should be here Wednesday.

I am going to keep considering the striped tunic. I may even try to get to Melbourne to try on in store:). And I'm no longer considering the shirt dress. I have recently moved on a silk ink blue shirt for reasons that I think would also render the shirt dress wrong for me:).

  • viva replied 9 years ago

I'm so glad you ordered that amazing jacket. I cannot wait to see it on you! And I hope you do try on that tunic -- I'd actually love that myself. It's so light it would be interesting to see how it worked on you and how you felt about it, but as a piece I am really attracted to it.

  • Gem replied 9 years ago

I Love the jacket enough to wonder about ordering from the UK.

  • shedev replied 9 years ago

    The jacket had me drooling.

  • Theodora replied 9 years ago

That jacket is so amazing! Kind of like Tierry Mugler in front. The skirt looks like a winner too. Metallicus seems like such a neat brand, wish we had in US. You have such great style!

  • Caro in Oz replied 9 years ago

Missed this before - well done on your shopping fast :)
I love the jacket. Is it in the usual Metallic knit type fabric?

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Caro, I have seen the jacket IRL but didn't try it on.  As I recall it's a jersey back and the front is similar but a double thickness to create a more structured front of the jacket.  The colour is beautiful!!

  • Caro in Oz replied 9 years ago

    Sounds great :)
