WIW : White on White!

Hi Ladies,

An exciting day for us with Master 11 turning 12 (well actually not until 11.57 this evening).  It was an early morning followed by work and school and we are heading out for dinner tonight.

I had meetings at work today and I have been finding I do like to walk a slightly more modern classic (?) path for days like these at work.  The cool thing is that my wardrobe seems to work well in creating a kind of chic avant garde vibe or a  modern classic depending on how I style things.

Last night I saw a very cool Pin #5 and I was inspired!  Given my commitments at work a slouchy tshirt wasn't appropriate so I swapped out the tee for a satin blouse and wore my cobalt ankle strap sandals (can you believe I don't have black!!)  I don't roll my pants, so this was out of my comfort zone, but I think it worked in ways that other attempts haven't.
I then added the white jacket and really liked the look.  It was a pretty hot day so for most of the day the outfit was sans jacket and I added the scarf.

White Jacket - Dotti
Satin Blouse - Target
Slouch Pants - Sportsgirl
Scarf - Can't remember
Sandals - Naughty Monkey
Blue Galaxy Earrings - Market Stall
Silver Rings - Pandora

I have a pair of casual but structured pants and I am keen to try the look with a slouchy tee.

Does my version work ok.  How's my pant roll?

Thanks for looking.
xxx Deborah

Ps.  Had my hair cut and coloured yesterday (feel so fresh) and I think I have finally worked out exactly what my short cut is.  I know it probably looks the same but there are some minor differences, and they are making me very happy:)

Happy birthday to the young Master.

I love your version so much more!  The blue sandals are perfect, that little pop of color makes this outfit more interesting.

Love this outfit. You've done well with the roll. Sorry I haven't commented lately, been a bit busy - organising from WA my Dad's move from his home to a serviced apartment - lots to think about.

So smashing! And black and white! I'm all about black and white right now.

    'Happy Birthday' Master 12!

Deb, I love your black and white look. Yes, a little modern classic, but I still see a very Deb outfit with lovely drape and proportions. Loving those sandals! I see your earrings picking up on the cobalt too... a nice touch.

Deb, this is fantastic, one of my favourite looks from you so far. But then it's full of things I love: black and white, cobalt accents, soft pleats, relaxed tailoring... Bravo!

And a big slap on the back for the birthday boy!

    Happy Birthday to Master 12!

Your outfit is lovely, Deborah, and I love those gorgeous blue sandals, book-ended with the blue earrings.

Your hair is looking great.  I know what you mean about small tweaks making all the difference to the happiness factor.

Gorgeous! I especially like it with the scarf - your blue eyes pop!

Master has a beautiful mom! The blue sandals are great with this stunning outfit. You've been having fun with sapphire blue this season, haven't you? :) It's turned up in your nail polish, that gorgeous shirt you showed us last week, the scarf in this outfit, and now these sandals. And it always complements your striking blue eyes. A touch of deep blue in your outfits could become part of your signature style...

Happy birthday to the birthday boy!
What do you mean if that works? If you walked into a meeting with me dressed like in #1 I would be literally impaired for anything else but talking about the outfit. It is brilliant.
    #2 is a beautiful more casual version.Perfect.

    Happy Birthday Master 11.
This is a great look. And I absolutely agree with you regarding how you are blending chic avant garde vibe or a modern classic. Well done.

I really like how the blue sandal perfectly matches that blue in the scarf.  A fun black and white with a dash of blue look.

    Happy Birthday to your DS!!!!

You look amazing!!! The cobalt sandals were such a nice surprise! Like a present at the bottom of your legs! Love it all - the white on top and the slouchy pants. Oh that Tshirt you've posted is awesome - do you have it?

Happy Birthday to handsome Master 12!

OMG I love your white on whites(and want that white jacket!). Blue sandals are the perfect pop of color, and I think the rolled pants worked  great! Gorgeous outfits and hair!

This is beautiful on you Deborah - love the blue sandal and the roll is perfect!

Deborah: I thought your reference image looked familiar. Just was looking at my spring "inspiration" Powerpoint board and saw that I included this image. A little scary when I think of all the images on the web -- perhaps not so surprising, I love Deborah's style.

Really nice!! Pant rolling looks good to me - and I think I love the idea of blue sandals more than black here - really a nice touch.  I want to do this outfit myself, and I'm in love with the t-shirt in the last pic - where is the pin from?

  • Deb replied 9 years ago

The first photo is worth framing!! This is one of your very best looks and the touch of structure really suits you. Such a refined and classy outfit. Repeat, repeat, repeat!

  • shipskitty replied 9 years ago

The version with the scarf is a clear favourite for me. A lovely look.

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Thank you!  It took me a good 5 minutes of rolling and unrolling the pants to achieve something I thought would be YLF approved :)  I have been very tempted to colour those sandals black but I think you have convinced me the blue is worth keeping.

  • Marley replied 9 years ago

Wow Deborah!  You have been hitting it out of the ballpark lately!  This outfit is a great combo of chic and avant garde - really cool!  (And, I love your hair.)  P.S.  Also - love seeing you in light colors!

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

You look stunning! I like everything about these looks, especially the first. Your hair is beautiful too. Happy Birthday, Master 12. It sounds like Friday the 13th was a great day all around.

  • Missey replied 9 years ago
