WIW : Moto

Hi Ladies,

Well it's been a blue week for me so far (stylewise) and today I reached for an abstract patterned lightweight moto style jacket in grey, white and black. I always feel the combination of colours in the jacket has a blue hue?  What do you think?

The jacket is about 6 years old and it wasn't until I had been participating here for a while that I finally started wearing it.  The moto style was new for me then. The jacket was an impulse buy, and I am so glad I did buy it.  I wouldn't call it a work horse but it does get worn with some regularity and I have a deep love for it.  There are days when it is just what I feel like and just the right topper for the occasion.

The moto style does seem to have significant longevity, and I expect to be wearing this for quite a few years to come.

I was travelling for work today and this is what I wore;

Slouchy Pants - Sportsgirl
Draped Sleeveless Top - Katies
Moto Jacket - Portmans
Sandals - Rubi

I decided to keep the new leather handbag (#2) I posted about last week.  I know there were some concerns that it was too classic for me, but I really liked it and its functionality won me over.  I also felt that it worked to add a touch of structure to my office outfits (it is specifically for work).  Today it proved it's worth as I was able to carry all I needed in it, including my notebook and files for my meetings. And the structure of it makes it such an organised bag... everything was visible and easy to access.   I wonder if seeing it with a work outfit changes anyone's thoughts on the bag for me?

Thanks for looking and your thoughts and styling suggestions, critque etc are all much appreciated.

Cut and colour tomorrow!  My hair gets so thick and fluffy, spent all day 'flattening' it  lol.

xxx Deborah

    To quote Suz "GAH!"

That moto jacket is gorgeous and I had to enlarge the photo to check it out in all its glory.

It's a great outfit Deborah and a lovely jacket (and I can see you getting slimmer too)

What a cool jacket! You look great. And I'm glad you kept the bag because it's just such a lovely one. It works really well with this outfit.

This is such a great look on you. The combo of slouchy pants, drapey top  structured moto is very appealing. Heels are the cherry on the sunday.

The jacket adds that extra bit of pizzaz to your outfit. Great shoes and purse too.

I love the moto, Deborah. Ditto the whole oufit - stunning.

Lovely outfit Deborah and that is a fab jacket. I do see what you mean about the colour, in that the grey is almost a blue-ish grey, certainly on my screen. I think the jacket would look good with some of your light grey items, too.

I missed the original thread about your bag, but since it fits all your stuff, and you can see and access all the contents, AND it adds structure to your drapey office outfits, it's a winner all round.

love the way the jacket add structure to this outfit. and I'm so glad that the bag is working for you!

That jacket is TDF...I would probably have to ration the number of times I wore it so that it would not look like I only owned one jacket...Great styling job...

Great Jacket! The abstract print is gorgeous.

As for purses and bags I have absolutely no insight because I am so unfashionable about them. To me the question is does it fit the function and meet my needs.  I do admire bag ladies through and I think the bag looks just fine especially since you stated it fit the need for work.

Do you have any off days style wise ? Like, at all?
I admire that you use , knowingly such a small palette of colors but your outfits are creative and always different.
That moto is beautiful. And your outfit gorgeous.

Very, very well said, Celia.  You always look amazing!  This jacket is perfect for you - adds some structure to your drape, which is great for a work setting (at least, it is for mine).

I was one of the ones who was hesitant about the bag, but only becasue you had one similar, not because of the bag itself.  Obviously this one fills a different function if it's big enough to carry everything you need, and works so well with work outfits.  Hesitations withdrawn!

Fabulous ... I love how the movement in the print echoes the drape in the top.

    You look terrific!

  • lyn67 replied 9 years ago

Love the brush paint on that moto, the outfit (as always!)..AND.the bag, too:-)).

I LOVE the way you do drape. I am fascinated by the fact that the print on the jacket seem to imitate the lines of a draping fabric. I'm simply speechless.

You look absolutely stunning! Love the print and color on the jacket.

  • Eliza replied 9 years ago

Love the way that jacket can play with blue, black and gray.  Sheer Deb inspiration.

Your hair looks great, though I know the feeling of craving a cut!

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

Another absolutely sensational outfit. I love this! I don't remember seeing the moto before, although I must have. I agree with you that it reads a bit "blue" even though it is not. It's funny the way that works.

As for the hair, I deeply commiserate. I need a cut very badly and will not be getting one for another two weeks!!

Another beautiful look, Deborah.  The jacket is gorgeous and looks very current.

Great look.  Love your drapey outfits.  You do them so well.  Beautiful jacket.  I missed the post about the handbag.  I love it.  Glad you kept it.

Gorgeous look, and I love the bag. That jacket is unique and it's beautiful on you.

Beautiful, sophisticated print, Deborah.  Terrific addition to your wardrobe.  The amount of drape in the pant and top is perfection.

I'm a sucker for large structured bag -- love it!

  • AM replied 9 years ago

I really love you in black and blue. And this jacket is such a nice cut on you. Well done.

  • rachylou replied 9 years ago

    Such a great jacket.

  • Caro in Oz replied 9 years ago

Lovely jacket Deborah & I love the drape of the top underneath too. The bag works for sure. I'd still rather see something less classic for you though :)

  • Jane replied 9 years ago

You look great - love the trousers and it's such a lovely thing to find something in your wardrobe that you haven't worn for a while, that looks really great.

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Thank you all very much for the jacket love:)

Celia, you are too sweet.  Yes I do have off days but much less since I started "studying' under our wise Angie and since I really narrowed down what it is that works for me and what I like (as opposed to what I thought I should be wearing).  Just for the record, I am cooking dinner as I type, wearing a black tshirt dress, no shoes and I am pretty sure I just squirted salad dressing down my front :)

Caro, I don't disagree re the bag being a tad too classic.   I have so much trouble finding bags in my price range that I LOVE.  Bags are funny things for me, there are not many that make my heart flutter.

Hope everyone is having a lovely week. xxx

  • Caro in Oz replied 9 years ago

LOL about the salad dressing - sounds like me.
Bags are hard imo, even when they look perfect they may not be right.
