WIW : Transitioning to Spring

Spring has appeared, disappeared and then slowly reappeared which makes dressing a little frustrating and here are some of the outfits I have been wearing. Not safe to put anything away just yet:)

1.
Is a Lulu Manna dress that I wore for a speaking engagement. Accessories are 3D printed from Noosh Jewellery, both Aussie designers producing locally:)

2.
Silk Harem pants and jersey top from Sassind, another local label. This was the first outing of the harems and I’m seriously considering wearing them (with a dressier top) to a wedding.

3.
Same top as 2 with a skirt from Cavaletti Gallery. This skirt is so cool. Turn it inside out and it’s all black. Adjust and twist and you create a number of different looks.

4.
New pants for Spring and great office outfit for me. Shortlist Shop pants and top and the clutch is handmade by a friend. Sandals and belt are older.

5.
A Lulu Manna shawl worn over black slim pants and a collared white shirt. Another work outfit.

6.
This dress is 6 years old and has survived so many wardrobe edits :). Layered a thrifted COS shirt under it and wore new Tony Bianco flatform shoes. My son made the backdrop for me .. he’s a sweetie!

Long weekend here for our football grand final which I’m managing to avoid by hanging out here for the afternoon!

Thanks for looking and hope you are enjoying your weekend xxx

All gorgeous! Looks #1, 2 and 5 really jumped out at me.
I love the elegance of #1, so perfect for a speaking engagement, if you don't want to wear your harem pants to the wedding, this is very special too.
The harem pants in #2 are lovely and I would love to see how you style them for a wedding. You ring and ear-rings really pop out and show your manicure and lipstick - such a great way to wear a touch of red.
#5 - I love the way you are wearing the shawl, it makes it look like a jacket.
I have avoided the football too. We went to our favourite sushi train (that usually you have to cue up to get in) - well today it was relatively quiet, so we got a seat very quickly.

Wow, how lovely outfits, all are really great, sophisticated and special. I love your style so much . My favourites are #1 and #4. I don't like harem pants but you are Queen of harem pants , you wear them excellent and I like them on you. You look so elegant and chic in all outfits.

  • Deborah replied 6 years ago

Thanks so much Bijou, yes #1 is a contender for the wedding too:). But I'm a bit naughty and have a new outfit on its way but not sure it will arrive I time lol. Our town is dead today! We went for ice cream and a walk and then relaxed at home :).

Mirjana, thanks so much. I totally get that the crotch look is not everyone's cup of tea. My husband still rolls his eyes lol. It's funny but they are a style that really resonates with me, it's almost an emotional connection, ...they feel like me... And I have a growing collection lol

All gorgeous looks Deborah.  I love your son's backdrop.  How talented.  My favourite is #2.  The harem pants look so good on you.  I love the touches of red with them.  Beautiful.

  • carolbee replied 6 years ago

You are rocking it as usual Deborah. Love, love, love #4.

  • gryffin replied 6 years ago

Greeting Queen of Darkness!!  Wow!!  Each outfit is wonderful.  I love #1 best - is there anything better than a fab LBD and this one is interesting, flattering, edgy, versatile, the mother of all HEWI's and the jewelry is wonderful.  I can imagine you feel wonderful in it and what a great speaking outfit.  All the other outfits are wonderful too.  You have a great shoe, accessory and bag collection.  I really admire how all your outfits are so different but each totally harmonious with your aesthetic and how easily the pieces would mix and match.  Also is there anything better than those pieces which are old friends and travel with us on our journeys.  You look gorgeous Deb wishing you a wonderful spring!!  Kudos to your son, love the back drop, what a sweetheart!!

  • Karie replied 6 years ago

You look super gorgeous in all of these, it's so hard to pick a favorite. I'm going with #1 and #4, and both the outfit and the fantastic background in #6.

  • Suz replied 6 years ago

You look elegant and relaxed and exceptionally stylish! Love #1. What a beautiful dress for a speaking engagement, bringing attention to your face. Love the ring in #2.

The skirt in #3 is indeed cool!! Do you have a link for that? Very clever. I wonder if it travels well.

LOVE the accessories (shoes, bag, belt) in #4. Wow, your friend is talented, and that bag is a perfect complement to the outfit (and I'm sure to many others as well.) A patterned bag can be such a delight.

Love the shawl and accessories in #5 as well.

As for the last one, you could be a Cos model! :)

  • Elle replied 6 years ago

All fabulous!  I particularly love #1 - so simple and elegant - and #4.  Your friend's clutch is amazing.

  • JAileen replied 6 years ago

I LOVE 4 and 5, Your friend's clutch is great.

  • Angie replied 6 years ago

I like #3, #4 (with the bag), and #5 best. KILLER.

  • Emily K replied 6 years ago

Such a cohesive point of view, as always!  I'm really interested in your idea to style the harem pants for the wedding.  What shoes would you wear?  (I'm only asking because I'd have absolutely no idea how to style harem pants and need to see it in action, I guess.)  I hope you'll show us pics if you choose to wear the pants.  I think the pants are fab--looks like really beautiful fabric.

  • mtnsofthemoon replied 6 years ago

Love, love your style and hair.  3D jewelry = fascinating and super cool.  #5 is my fav and the red ring is #2 is fab!

  • Aquamarine replied 6 years ago

Holy smokes, you look fantastic! My favorites are 1 and 4...simply elegant.

  • Lyn D. replied 6 years ago

Hi Deborah, the reversible skirt is amazing!
You are looking so fabulous and individual these days- reminds me of those few bloggers that wear clothes that look to be one-offs made especially for them only.
I too had fun playing in my closet yesterday, trying on items unworn since the last warm weather.

  • replied 6 years ago

    I think 4 & 6 in particular are super!

  • Dianna replied 6 years ago

Fantastic outfits, all of them,  My favorites are 1, 2, and 6, but you look amazing in all of them.

  • Sal replied 6 years ago

My personal favourites are 1 and 4, interesting how we all like different ones.

Your accessorising is reaching new heights, really completing your looks brilliantly.

  • Jaime replied 6 years ago

I love the first dress and could see it with white shoes (I am white shoe focused right now). The clutch by your friend is brilliant and perfect with that outfit. Love the skirt in number 3 and the black and white earrings too.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 6 years ago

Wow, your style is through the roof fabulous, Deborah. I love the skirt outfit and the fact that you can switch the skirt around to wear it different ways. I'm really drawn to the look of it with those tights and mid-height booties. Your first outfit is a great choice for a speaking engagement--you look chic and authoritative. Your son's backdrop is so well done, too--artistic talent runs in the family!

  • Joy replied 6 years ago

Your posts are always a treat. Your dress in #1 is a work of art, but 4 and 5 are close seconds.

  • Deborah replied 6 years ago

Style Fan Thank you. The red jewelry is made by my new fave designer and friend, her designs are just perfectly me and I have to control myself or I'd have one of everything x

Carolbee I miss you! Thank you! I think the Aussie girls are well overdue for a meet up!!

Gryffin my Sister of Darkness:). I'm in such a happy place with my wardrobe. Fully embracing what I like and not worrying too much about trend, what others are wearing etc. black and neutrals ,
Make me happy and accessories have started to play a more important role xxx

Karie, thank you! #4 is a bit of a go to for the office when I don't feel inspired. love having those outfits that you know work and they don't require any thought :)

Thanks Suz! The skirt doesn't seem to need ironing so yes it would travel well. I'm sorry I don't have a link. Cavaletti Gallery is studio in Central Victoria where the designer designs and makes everything in very small runs often dependent on how much of the fabric she has. I think there were only a couple of these skirts made, one of the reasons her designs are so special. She has become a friend, and it's heaven spending time with her. She's so passionate and I am learning so much. Her work is all Japanese inspired and her fabrics are amazing!

Ellie and J'Aileen thank you! My friend actually custom made this one for me. I gave her my brief and she nailed it!

    Thanks o much Angie!

Emily, I might try the sandals in 4 with the harems otherwise I have a very simple black sandal with a strap across the toes and an ankle strap. I think either of them will work depending on the top xx

    Mtnsofthemoon thank you xx

    Aquamarine thank you!

Lyn D that's so nice! I am buying less and better and from small local makers so some of these items are very limited in terms of how many are produced. I think I have found my happy place xxx

    jlpp thank you x

    Dianna thank so much x

Thanks Sal! It's easy when you find someone whose accessories just work for you :)

Ooh Shevia, white shoes might take me out of my comfort zone:).

Firecracker thank you! The skirt is amazing I know it's just a piece of clothing but I love it lol

Thank so much Joy, Dressing is very much about expression for me xxx

  • Jane replied 6 years ago

I love your style! It is a delight when you post. The level of polish that you have is incredible. Fashion can be (far) more fun than football!

  • Column replied 6 years ago

Wow. After admiring your style for a few years now, it just occurred to me that you achieve variety via silhouette--something I struggle with immensely. I guess this is one advantage of a monochromatic wardrobe? I would love your analysis. Anyway, I am dying for #1 and 4. Superb!

  • Deborah replied 6 years ago

Hi Jane, thanks so much, you made my day!  And yes almost anything is more fun than football lol

Column, I think you are right.  I was thinking this through some weeks ago, I do need variety but I don't need it in my colour palette.  I tend to use different silhouettes, textures and combinations to keep things interesting for myself.  I never  have a day where I think 'I don't feel like wearing black' lol but I will get up and think that I feel like a long slender, no fuss silhouette, or I might feel like mixing up textures and fabrics I haven't mixed before.

You always looks so put together and edgy!

We are having the same issue, just with fall weather. You are doing a smashing job styling for a colder spring.
