WIW: School Production

Hi Ladies,

Last Friday night was the school production of Annie. The kids had been working on it all term and Master 9 and his class were "citizens".

It was a very hot day and evening and I just wanted something that draped and wasn't fitted so #1 was what I started with. Dress and shooties, and #2 is what I left the house in. Same combo but added skinny jeans under the dress as I was feeling a bit self conscious about the length of the dress :)

I'm thinking flats might be best if I wear the dress alone.

#3 is Master 9. This is on the stage after the performance. He made his bow tie:)

Thanks for looking and comments and suggestions for improvement always welcome.

xxxDeborah

Deborah, one would never know from your sharp appearance that it was as hot as you say. You look great in both versions and I personally feel you could have worn without the jeans too. Master 9 is too cute for words!

Thanks Suz:) The silly expression on my face is a bit of a give away :) It was so hot that I really didn't want to go out at all. And thank you, it's a great dress to just throw on so Im glad you think its ok sans leg coverage.

Deborah, you can totally wear that dress on its own! And Master 9 is adorable : )

I agree that dress is at your knee and a most appropriate length. I also like it with the heels. Master 9 is so adorable!

"Your never fully dressed without a smile........." I remember my production of Annie back in the '80's, such a fun and kid friendly show. You look great both ways. The dress is definitely long enough, and it's drape probably falls nicely when seated, too. What about light blue accents for some of your summer black? Or dove gray? Both are "cool" but simple colors.

    The sun'll come out.....tomorrow......(sorry couldn't resist)

Looks very chic and classy! I'm jealous of your hot weather!

Very fab both ways! I think the length of the dress is perfectly demure and you look fantastic in the dress on it's own, but it's fab with jeans too. I'd love to see that dress with patterned hose. (Also, young master 9 is very dapper in his bowtie! :) )

You can definitely wear this without the jeans Deborah - it's a lovely length. And in the heat, go with what's comfortable!

Love the drape on this dress and that red clutch is just fabulous! Master 9 is looking very dapper in his bow tie!

Master 9 has stolen the show! He looks AMAZING! Mum, you look terrific as always - and glow in the heat :)

Hi Deborah, this dress is fine without the jeans, and I can imagine it with nude heels (did you keep the holey ones?)
How cute D.S., does he sing and dance?

  • Thistle replied 11 years ago

Master 9 is so cute, I bet he stole the show!

You look fab in both outfits, and both are totally appropriate!

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

Thanks so much for your awfully kind comments. That dress may just get worn with bare legs tomorrow :)

Angie, wait till I tell Master 9 that you think he looks amazing...I bet he will blush!

Lyn, I did keep the holey sandals :) I am wearing them for the first time today. I think I will try them with the dress. Given they are a lower heel height, perhaps keeping the leg line streamlined wont make me look to squat. And does DS sing and dance... does he ever lol. He is quite the performer, and loves music in particular. My DH is a professional sound engineer (it's a side business for him) and he had a studio built in our backyard... both he and DS spend hours out there writing and recording. He is not sure if he wants to be a gamer, performer or a scientist... decisions!

You look great with or without the jeans, but I understand wanting to be more covered up for a school event. M9 is adorable.

Very fab, Deborah - I think you could totally get away the dress on its own. Master 9 is adorable. I don't think I could ever convince my Master 9 to wear, let alone make, a bow tie.

Deborah , you have great legs and can wear that dress either way. Master nine is a sweetie. One of the nine-year-old boys in my class told me today he had tried out for beauty and the beast and got the part of chip. He was so thrilled. Sorry about the lack of capitals I'm using the voice option on my phone.

Sarah my young man loves to dress up.. still! He had free dress day at school last week and he knew exactly what he wanted to wear. Black shorts, white t shirt with drums on it with a built in black vest and then he added a belt and did a semi tuck! At least there is no mistaking he is MY child! But other days he doesn't care and would wear mismatched shoes if I let him...go figure.

Joy that is lovely. It's is so good to see young kids taking an interest in the performing arts. I think it has the potential to develop a number of skills for them.

    Well done Master 9!

Another vote for the wear this alone team here. Wasn't it boiling with jeans? (looks fine though)

Deborah that is a fabulous dress! Even though I am like you when it comes to dress length, I don't know how you managed to wear jeans in the heat. I think a flat shoe would de-bombshell it enough that it would come off as perfectly modest with bare legs. It's not as if it's mid-thigh length or anything! Master 9 is looking sharp too!

Cool little "citizen" Master 9! Love his posture, his self made bow tie and all! :-)
Your dress looks fab without the pants, too-Deb--how could you wear jeans under it when soooo hot???? Bare legs (or capri leggings?) would have been enough!!!!!
