WIW: I Am Not Emmanuelle Alt!

Nothing like stating the obvious lol!

This outfit was inspired by EA in #2:)

I wore this to church on Sunday. Given the heat, I opted for a straight leg rather than a skinny and i have chosen not to tuck. My jacket is not a slouchy fit or long like hers. Hmmm I think I might be in the market for a new white blazer!?

I mostly went sans jacket as our AC wasn't on and it has been warm.

My feeling is the jacket is not the best for the proportions of this outfit. If I wear it again I think I would swap out the white for a slouchy black blazer (until I could find a better white one :)

Your thoughts as always, are very much appreciated.

xxxDeborah

I think it looks fab, you added your trademark elegance to a rate look!

  • rute replied 11 years ago

but you are as stylish as she! Love!

    *faints*

  • Raisin replied 11 years ago

I think you did a great job copying her style, your outfit it great! I love her too, she's very stylish!

  • Sharon replied 11 years ago

I like this a lot. I can see what you mean about the jacket proportions, though. How does it look with the jacket sleeves scrunched up to the elbows like EA? Just wondering if that might balance it more.

  • Karie replied 11 years ago

I think the jacket looks fine, but a slouchy white one might look even better (if that's possible - you look great). I like your look better than hers, and while I love her style, yours is more classicly stylish. Fantastic!

What a great interpretation! I see what you mean about proportions - I think I want the blouse shorter or the jacket longer, but the overall effect works for me. You look gorgeous!

  • krishnidoux replied 11 years ago

I love your interpretation and it totally goes with the rest of you. Glad you are NOT EA. Anyway on her pic it looks she's trying a bit too hard, whereas you, with very similar items, look naturally stylish.
ETA especially love the blazer's proportions.

  • cobaltblue replied 11 years ago

Yes, but I think you look even better than she does. I love this outfit.

  • carolbee replied 11 years ago

You look great in this outfit, love the blouse.

You look good, you have definitely put your own stamp on this look and it works. You've put a classic twist to the outfit and I think it looks stylish. If you feel the need to change it up slightly it would be good to see the result with another pic.

  • replied 11 years ago

Great inspiration. You did a fantastic job recreating with an elegant vibe. If you had a longer jacket I think the top would need to be shorter. I think the short jacket works with the long top.

  • Mellllls replied 11 years ago

    i like yours even better!

  • Joy replied 11 years ago

I love this! It's a perfect example to me of Elegant Eclectic and I would wear it in a heartbeat. EA's white jacket is more of the moment while yours looks more classic blazer, but I still think it works.

  • missvee replied 11 years ago

I think it's a fab outfit and the proportions are spot on. You look much better than EA in my opinion!

  • Classically Casual replied 11 years ago

I think your outfit works very well. One of the things I like best about it, is that it is"your" look...it's not totally EA's. In other words, you're maintaining some of your signature style while being inspired by another's. And in the extreme heat, your efforts are heroic!!

  • TraceyLiz65 replied 11 years ago

i think you are not seeing what the rest of us are. I think the proportions of this jacket work beautifully and no need to switch it up!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Well I think this outfit is gorgeous and completely reinforces the fact that I need a fab fitting white blazer for spring/summer. I like the proportions of the longer blouse underneath the blazer and the soft look of untucked. Love this so much!

  • amiable replied 11 years ago

Oh, but this is terrific! I like it!

  • JulieJohn replied 11 years ago

You always look so darned good! I love this on you, the white jacket really highlights your lovely coloring. Good thought about the looser pants for the heat. I love a nice white blazer. It's like "instant chic".

Have you tried the printed blouse tucked in? I'm just curious if you would like the jacket's proportions better in that configuration, where it is the longer item.

  • replied 11 years ago

Deborah, you look fabulous! I can't believe you had pieces in your closet that are even this close to E.A.'s. You are one semi-tuck and a sleeve scrunch away from the picture. Your blouse is amazing!

  • texstyle replied 11 years ago

It looks great! You could try a shorter top under it to create the longer jacket look maybe?...and scrunch the sleeves like someone suggested, but you really don't need to change a thing.

  • replied 11 years ago

    I like your version!

  • Beth Ann replied 11 years ago

I think your look is gorgeous -- and, while I see what you mean about proportion, I think the white topper is far more energizing than the black.

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

You are our fab Debs with KILLER style. How is that not AMAZING no matter how you slice and dice it!

  • catherine replied 11 years ago

Wow and wow. Between the two, yours is better.

  • Thistle replied 11 years ago

WOW! Aamazing interpretation. You look astounding!

  • Day Vies replied 11 years ago

You don't have to be --- "I did it my way" comes to mind. This is gorgeous on you. I absolutely love it. I really appreciate how you've adopted this outfit to reflect you and your lifestyle. It's more of an adaptation than an a copy and I really appreciate that difference. Bravo!

  • pil replied 11 years ago

    Absolutely beautiful!

  • Amy replied 11 years ago

I'm glad you're not EA, because you bring something special to the equation. You look wonderful, Deb.

  • MsMaven replied 11 years ago

I like your version better than EA's. I look at her and the word "giraffe" comes to mind.

When I was younger, tall and skinner than now, I didn't like the skinny pants look, nor did I like the teasing, not that anyone would tease EA.

    In fact, you look fabulous!

  • cheryl replied 11 years ago

You look wonderful. Love your version.

  • Sarah A replied 11 years ago

Like Shannon, I prefer the longer shirt and shorter jacket as you have styled. I think it's great interpretation of an icon's look!

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

Thanks so much ladies! I have decided I would like a more slouchy white blazer so that's going on my list for 2013. But I am glad this jacket works. Tucking is definitely another option but not with these pants due to the very firm fit on the tummy so I am thinking of trying this with my slouchy black pants as I can tuck or at least semi tuck with those,

It was fun to do an inspiration outfit! I tend to be very literal and often don't bother trying because I can do the look exactly lol

  • Tina.b replied 11 years ago

I think your jacket works very well with the outfit. Though nothing wrong with adding another to the repertoire (have one on my list for spring too). Such a great combo of edgy and elegant, you are too fabulous!

  • rachylou replied 11 years ago

You look great in the EA outfit. I would say it's true enough, you are elegant and EA is really more rangy. It's her long torso.

  • Vicki replied 11 years ago

EA, meet DA (Deborah of AU)! You look lovely with this inspiring photo and now I want to copy both of you! I'm still trying to figure out if I'm seeing front slits on the bottom of EA's hems or if the shoes are creating the illusion for me. Whatever, I like it and think you pulled it off.

  • Jjsloane replied 11 years ago

You look great in this. I prefer you to EA in this scenario (but it's not her best facial shot) Great interpretation.

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Woefully late here. So frustrating - I could not see the pictures very well on my phone and wanted to wait to reply until I had the computer!

You may not be Emmanuelle Alt, but you are one heck of a gorgeous and stylish woman! I love your version; it is right for you. So elegant and fresh.

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

I don't mean to keep bringing this thread to life but I just want to say thank you again for your incredibly kind comments.

Vicki, if you look closely, EA is wearing a skinny leg but the cut of her shoes/sandals are creating what looks like a split...pretty cool look I think.

Suz, and others, you made me want to cry:). As a little girl I used to always notice and admire stylish women and that's so what I wanted to be when I grew up (among other things) so your words are just so encouraging and have really blessed me.

  • Scarlet replied 11 years ago

Oh, but this is a great interpretation. You added your personal ladylike spin to it. I can see what you mean about the jacket, but I actually think it still works as is. I hope you felt great!

  • anne replied 11 years ago

Deborah, you really are very stylish in this outfit. It works, it really does!

ETA I wrote this hours ago and never pressed submit! Anyway here goes
