WIW : Day 3 SYC / Tweaking Required - Added Pic

Hi Ladies:)

At the office today so was going for business casual, but I think maybe this is more smart casual?

Black Boyfriend Jacket

Black & white polka dot blouse

Polka Dot Scarf

Cobalt Skinnies

Suede Booties

Red Bag

I think this looked better laid out on the bed last night, but no time to change this morning. I feel it lacks something as it feels a bit "ordinary". I don't wear collared shirts very often and I do tend to question the look on me.

Any suggestions for tweaking here would be great.

I did leave the house feeling reasonably happy tho as DH said he liked the outfit:).

Have a lovely day.

xxx Deborah

I really like this look Deborah - it has a chic simplicity about it. What is it you don't like?

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

Shannon, I think I'm very used to collarless tops with a little more skin showing. But I do love this blouse:)

Well I think you wear a collar very well - your neck is long and lovely. And I especially like the white collar of this one against the dark body of the blouse.

I actually think the collared shirt is stunning. no tweaking required in my book!

I love the combo but totally get the collar part. I'm never sure how to wear scarves with collars. I think you've done it great, it's just a little different than your usual drapey glamourousness.

Looks great to me, Deborah! Maybe it is just a bit of a departure and your eye needs to adjust. If your husband approved I am sure it looked wonderful IRL.

I really like it! Not too "ordinary" at all. It has layers, color, pattern, great fit.

Shannon, thanks! I think I have "fixed" it. Added an extra pic. Fuzzy but taken in the office :) (I really must do some work).

Sona, thank you! Hope you are feeling as good today as you were yesterday. Just checked out your slouchy pants.. wow!

Jj, yes you get it, it's just a very slightly different look for me.

Suz, I keep reminding myself of the need to allow our eye to adjust, otherwise I would wear the same thing over and over. And while hubby is not 'into fashion" himself, he actually has a good eye and I do trust his judgement.

Allison, thanks so much. You have actually helped me to view the outfit a little differently :)

Anway, I did a little tweaking in the bathroom at work and I am much happier :)
(See Pic 3) The heating is on and its cozy in the office so I have removed my jacket, done a bit of a semi pop on the collar and rearranged the scarf :)

Ok, now I can do some work! lol

    Whoo hooo - perfect!

I think that looks great, Deborah and I love the combination of colors and patterns on this!

I think this is very pretty. I know Angie sometimes suggests tying scarves *inside* the collars of button down shirts. Have you tried that? I actually things there's enough going on without the scarf, and I might just leave it off altogether.

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

I like it a lot! As for showing more skin, I feel you on that one; I rarely leave my sleeves down with button up shirts. I would suggest pulling the cuff over the blouse and pushing the sleeves up.

I thought you loojed fine beore the tweak but I must say the after tweak shot has more impact. Love the cobalt skinnies

  • Jaime replied 11 years ago

I love this outfit with the jacket. Without the jacket it looks great too, but I would take Aida's suggestion and push up or roll up the sleeves - at least in a pose you are creating a straight line across your body and maybe that is bothering you? It is a beautiful blouse.

YLF! Like you always do :)

  • anne replied 11 years ago

I like it Deborah. Especially with the jacket

I love it as styled in #1 and #3. I like the way the scarf pops and frames the color in #3! What would #2 look like as a semi-tuck? I know this can be tricky with bright bottoms. This blouse might work very nicely with vests, too!
