WIW : ALGO?

Hi Ladies,

It's a cold day in down town Bendigo (she says gleefully) so layering and color seemed appropriate:). I also have a lot of running around for work today and comfort is important.

Patterned Sleeveless Tunic/Dress (Whisper)
3/4 Sleeve red top (Lilia)
Ponte leggings (Target)
Boots (Corelli - gift from my mum)

Not shown but wearing my purple coat today too.

This is a little different for me in terms of pattern but I do enjoy wearing it.

I had forgotten about these boots. They are lovely quality leather and with the 1inch heel are incredibly comfortable but still give me a little height. And they are warm. I wouldn't have necessarily chosen them myself but I think they work and will possibly be put into high rotation this winter.

WDYT? Is it too much? Styling suggestions, critique, etc all very welcome.

As always, thank you for looking.
xxx Deborah

I love this! It's ALGO but not TMGO - it has a cool 80s color palette and vibe but is also very Allsaint-ish somehow.

love the combo...so smashing for the cool weather.

  • Kari replied 11 years ago

Deborah, the print on that tunic is so cool! Not too much going on but very interesting to the eye.

  • Makrame replied 11 years ago

Beautiful tunic/dress, and a great outfit - not too much going on, just perfect.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

WOW - fantastic! This has so much visual interest but is not TMGO. This is a very chic looking outfit Deborah.

  • MNsara replied 11 years ago

This is a fun outfit! There is a lot of interest with the tunic colors and pattern, but it's still a nice bold look! Looks like you might be off to a gallery opening ;-)

I love this! The tunic is so cool. I never see neat stuff like that when I shop. You have ALGO but it totally works!

I love the tunic! It's very painterly to my eye. Super outfit all the way around, and the boots are such a nice gift from Mom. Will they fit over skinnies as well? How great that they are comfy too! Enjoy your brisk weather! :)

It totally works on you, Deb!

I really like the tunic, and you have balanced the pattern beautifully. Artistic without looking at all out of control.

    Fun!

  • Amy replied 11 years ago

Fabulous and fun! You rock this look.

  • Jem replied 11 years ago

I love every one of your outfits! I think this is a great tunic/dress and you look fab as always! It's a pretty cool pattern on it!

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

    Echoing everything Una said :D

  • Beth Ann replied 11 years ago

This is very "downtown artist," which is more dramatic than ALGO to my eye. It has energy with being frantic. Love it!

  • Joy replied 11 years ago

This is one of my favorite outfits on you!

I like the proportions and the print and the colors. This *almost* works but where I get stuck is the neckline. Is that a grey scarf or is it part of the dress? The color works but it feels like it competes with the red layering top. Sorry. I feel awful being the only dissenter here.

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

Denise don't feel awful. I really appreciate that this is a community where we are kind but honest:) And I think you have amazing style and I respect your opinions:)
Don't ever think you can't tell me what you think x

The neckline is a cowl and part of the dress. Its the same fabric/pattern as the sides of the dress. It's a drapy fabric but still with some stiffness so it can take a bit of fiddling to get the neck to sit correctly.

This is actually the first time I have layered the red top. I have only worn it sleeveless before..I can see what you are saying.

LOVE! Deborah, it's *not* busy-looking at all, so not TMGO for sure. More that it is arrestingly dramatic, and you carry that off very well indeed. Your sharp, sleek hair really completes this picture.

I love it, and now I can see why you liked that ezibuy dress I am stalking. Looks comfy and all round great.

  • Andrea W replied 11 years ago

You look great - that dress looks very 'Desigual'.

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

Una and Aida, thanks, what can I say...I'm an 80's girl at heart :)

BJ, Kari, Makrame and Shannon, thanks so much. I am so glad you don't there is too much going on. I love the colors but the busy-ness was still a question mark for me.

MNSara, unfortunately I was off to work, not a gallery opening. However I am attending the launch of a new accessories boutique next week, so this outfit might be good for that?

Kellygirl, I actually thought of you when I out this together:)

Claire, yes the boots fit nicely over skinnies too. I wore them all day today and I didn't want to take them off they were so comfortable.

Angie, so glad this works to your eye:).

Shevia, IK, Amy and Jem, thanks for your comments.

Beth Ann thanks for looking, "downtown artist" sounds pretty cool, maybe that's my sub persona:).

Joy, such a lovely compliment, thank you :)

Mani, I think perhaps it was the drama of the tunic that attracted to me in the first place.

Anne, yes I saw the similarities between this and the dress you are stalking immediately:).

Andrea, i have seen some Disigual pieces on the forum but must have a look on line as I'm not familiar with the label.

  • Astrid replied 11 years ago

This looks great! And not TMGO, I can still see Deborah in this outfit. It's a bit different than your usual outfits, but it's still you! The boots look great too and that print is fantastic. Like Andrea it reminded me of Desigual at first glance.

  • tarzy replied 11 years ago

What a great outfit! I had the same reaction as Denise - I would probably layer a black or grey color underneath to let the tunic be the star!

  • Jonesy replied 11 years ago

I like that the bold pattern of the tunic is offset by its clean lines. Somehow I am slightly put off by that horizontal rectangle of black along the bottom of it, though. But overall this is a very polished yet arty look, in other words, very Deborah! Just my crazy two cents :)!

  • Meredith1953 replied 11 years ago

    Deborah,
It looks great! the pattern of the sleeveless tunic combined with the red top is beautiful and it looks great with the boots! A very interesting and somewhat ethnic vibe to it!

  • HelenInCanada replied 11 years ago

Love it! Fun. Yes, it's ALGO, but in a great way!
