WIW A Favourite Combo Black/Cream

After a disastrous day style wise yesterday, (no photos) where I seemed unable to even co-ordinate two matching socks, I'm hoping today's effort has me back on the straight and narrow:)

Black & Cream tipped long cardigan
(the uneven-ness is the design)
Black short sleeve shift dress
Ponte Leggings
Boots

A bit over dressed for a dietician appointment and grocery shopping, but I felt like dressing up:).

The shift dress is new and I bought it primarily for layering as I found I was often looking in my closet for a plain black knee length dress to work under some of my more statement longer jackets and cardigans, and over leggings.

Thanks for looking:)

Have a lovely weekend
xxx Deborah

Not overdressed at all, Deborah. Fabulous outfit for wowing the masses. I love those boots.

Deborah, I'm having a hard time imagining you having a bad style day! And I have a hard time believing you're not 5'10" because you do drama SO well! I love that cream-tipped cardi over your basic black dress. The bag is a nice light touch too. It makes me happy that you dress the way you *really* want to, and not like others with the same errands might do. :)

Thanks Julie! Good to see you :)

Claire you have no idea:). I changed 3 times yesterday and still couldn't get it right lol! So i had to just settle and leave the house otherwise it would have been pj's to bible study !

I bet your style day was fab despite your reservations :)

    Nice outfit!

I love it. Keeping it to two colors really makes the architecture of the pieces stand out. Beautiful! I bet you were the most glamorous person in the grocery store--and I think that is a marvelous thing!

I love that the cream trim on the front of the cardi is eching the lines of your lovely bob!

  • Kiwichik replied 11 years ago

Most definitely on the straight & narrow - love that cardigan

Love this dramatic look! You look uber stylish, Deborah!

Claire is so right. It is almost impossible to believe that you are not tall. You manage to convey the impression of height so well! This is such a dramatic and fun look. And I know exactly what you mean about the value of a knee length black sheath. I wear mine to death. Me, who is trying to wean myself from so much black! When it comes to that dress, there is no weaning.

    Where did you find yours?

  • ManidipaM replied 11 years ago

I'll believe it when I see it, shall I, this unfab you? ;-)

And I LOVE this dramatic, striking outfit. Minimal fuss for maximum effect! FFBO option?

You're wearing my favourite colour combo again! Love this.

Love the graphic, strong contrast of black and white with the flowing lines of the jacket -- such a nice juxtaposition. This is ultimate "singer" apparel. Now, a soprano would enter the room with a noticeable swish, even if she was was just going through the produce section!

  • anne replied 11 years ago

I love this outfit. And I like the idea of buying a dress to wear under a statement jacket.

I bet you didn't look that bad yesterday - I can definitely relate to just having to go out with what outfit was on in the series of changes when time ran out - but I reckon your bad would be pretty good

Thanks girls, I definitely felt more fab today than I did yesterday:)

Angie and Mani, you are both too kind. I am *almost* tempted to post a pic from yesterday.. almost :)

k can shop, I did get some looks while at the supermarket, but I made sure I returned the looks with a smile:)

Lynne, lovely to see you and thanks.

Kiwichik and Kellygirl, good to know I haven't completely lost the plot!

Suz, I wonder if i have long legs for my height? Does that make sense? Lol. I promise I am only 5"1. I have loads of black dresses but nothing this plain with this neckline. I know I'm going to wear it to death like you yours. We have a large supermarket chain that has maybe 6 months ago introduced a range of clothing. In fact Imogen did a review of the range on her blog and it was quite positive. So the dress is from there, picked up on sale for $15.00. Quality is good, not great, but given I plan to layer over it, I think it should be ok.

Shannon can't beat the black /cream or white combo :)

Beth Ann I hadn't thought of it as being so dramatic, but I do see that now. Just for the record I'm not a singer, but DH is a Worship and Creative Arts Pastor. If i sang, your ears would bleed he he.

Thanks Anne, with the cold weather upon us, I get to layer and wear all my jackets, so this dress should be pretty useful.

I love this combo - you are looking very stylish and I think the cream edge adds a definite touch of sophistication. I can't believe I'm seeing you in winter clothes - I guess it goes to show how long it's been since I've last stopped by.

  • Ornella replied 11 years ago

Oh, I love this! I'd wear it in a heartbeat!

  • Sharon replied 11 years ago

Nice outfit! You always look very polished. I'm sure you looked fine yesterday- some days no matter what we do things seem wrong! Where did you find the dress? I have bought two new jackets this season, and both are distinctive enough that I think they would look best with a plain black "background".

  • Mona replied 11 years ago

Black and cream are beautiful together and you look fab. I also like the idea of using a black dress as a background for your statement jackets.

  • Meredith1953 replied 11 years ago

Oh I love the crwam edging on that topper! Just lovely!

  • lyn67 replied 11 years ago

This is another great outfit! Love the drama in this! Always love your all blacks with a pop of white/cream/or other colour! And the bag is to die for!

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

Katiepea, I have missed you! Thanks and yes it's been a while. We are now well into the cooler weather.

    Ornella, high praise, thank you.

Sharon, the shift is a cheapie, the Mix range from Coles! Quality what I would describe as good, not great!

Mona, Meredith and Lyn67 thanks so much. I bought the cardigan on sale at the end of winter last year, and today is it's first outing.

Ooh, I love it! I'm adding my voice to the chorus who has a hard time imagining you having a bad style day. You always look so chic.
