WIW : Black, Red & Polka Dots

Good morning beautiful ladies:)

It's my day off and Master 9 is at school, DH is busy working on a project, and I'm at the hairdressers for a slightly overdue cut and colour. A few hours of peace and quiet and pampering *happy sigh* and chatting about fashion with my stylist :)

I have been on a bit of a black fest recently so here's some red just for Angie:)

Black Skinnies
Black Sleeveless Blouse
Black jacket with red dots
Black Patent Sling Backs
Red and black animal print scarf
& Hand made necklace by me:)
Trying out a daytime clutch!

Pretty casual and comfort is my main priority today.

Does this work? Is the jacket long enough to wear like this?

I always appreciate you taking the time to look and share your thoughts.

xxxDeborah

Great outfit! I love the polka dots! The necklace is fabulous too and I'm glad you took a close up of it.

Beautiful! I love the red in there, both in the jacket and the scarf. You are such a master of layering patterns!

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

Sarah thanks you, I forgot I had the necklace and how much I like it.

K thank you! You're not so bad at layering yourself:). I've just commented on your post. We must have been feeling the same colors today:)

There is no end to your fabness, Debs! Another 11 out of 10 look! Great pattern mixing. Great sleek with drape integrity.

I am honoured to be thought of in this outfit :)

Thank you so much Angie, with this rating I will packing this combo for this coming weekend in Melbourne:). This was put together a little haphazardly this morning, which has me wondering if sometimes we (well me) over think our outfits? I do think my wardrobe is working better for me now than it ever has before.

Gorgeous Deborah! And what a fun looking clutch!

    Deborah, I LOVE this!

This has to be one of my favourites - I love the fact that it has drape + structure + layers yet looks effortless. Are you going to the races while in Melbourne?

  • Jaime replied 11 years ago

I adore that jacket on you! One of my favorite outfits on you - although I think that about most of your outfits actually.

This is a great casual look. Bravo! I love the echo of the polka dots in the jacket with the cutouts on the blouse. I like the mix of patterns and textures including the scarf and clutch because it keeps your look fresh and avoids matchy-matchy-ness (a highly technical term) even when the entire look uses only red and black.

The short jacket and long blouse work -- maybe because the slim fit of the the jacket is a nice contrast to the loose fit of the blouse.

The necklace by the way looks wonderful. I would never have guessed it was your own creation. I am curious to know how your first foray into a day-time clutch worked out.

My goodness, I love everything about this whole outfit, the colors, the patterns, the clutch! And the necklace is gorgeous!

Great outfit, Deborah. And what a fun clutch.

  • Ingunn replied 11 years ago

This is SO beautiful! Utterly classy and chic. I love the polka dots - very trendy in a grown up way. That's how it should be done in my opinion!

  • ButterflyLady replied 11 years ago

You look wonderful - red is definitely one of your most flattering colours (and I still love you in black, too). How clever to make the necklace. I'd also like to know how you got on with the daytime clutch - did you find it manageable to always have to, well, clutch it?!

  • lyn67 replied 11 years ago

Love your black and red look, Deb! Isn't that clutch fab for daytime, too!!! I also tried a dayclutch and I am converted, except that it still doesn't fit my stuff needed for a regular workday..:-(.... sigh.
Love the dots on a jacket with 7/8 sleeves-too!!! :-) Such a different look!

Wow - this is one of my new Deborah favourites! The cropped jacket is gorgeous with this combination and I love red/black together. It's a bit Chanel like - fabulous. And where oh where did you find that fantastic clutch? LOVE IT!!!

Have with on your day off!

Just want to say thank you for your lovely comments.

Caro, no I am in Melbourne so Master 9 can go to his best friends birthday party. Will be catching up with my mum and sister, two close friends and then heading home. I have never been to the races! For some reason it has never really grabbed me.

Day Vries and ButterflyLady, the clutch was fine for daytime. I just make sure it's a day when I don't have to carry much. I do like a reasonable sized clutch though, I'm not good with very small ones:)

Shannon, I bought this at a department store in Thailand last year. It's one of the best holiday purchases I made:). It has a short strap and a long strap so I can use it three ways:)

Lovely! You always have such great outfits. You are a well-dressed lady!

I like the shorter jacket layer. It looks great with the rest of the outfit. Beautiful necklace.

  • Chic replied 11 years ago

Wow are you good at this! I like the black and red combos....the necklace is awesome and I wouldn't use the scarf to cover it. I believe the outfit works without the scarf.

  • Shu replied 11 years ago

Really, really lovely! The combination of proportion, texture, and color is making my eyes happy.

  • Ariadne replied 11 years ago

Sleek, stunning, and sophisticated. Adding it to my favourites!

  • Nadya replied 11 years ago

Those skinnies have a delicious amount of scrunch. You look great in your outfit and fab necklace!
