WIW : Asymmetric

Hi Ladies,

This is a new skirt that I came across "by accident" ;). It has a raw and asymmetric hem .. And simply had to come home with me.

This is an attempt at combining my style preferences with touches of structure (jacket) and classic (blouse) for a more formal work day.

Does it work?

Thanks for looking and your thoughts much appreciated.

xxx Deborah

Ooh- does it have panels Deborah?
I love pieces that are interesting from the back too- what is the material?

  • Ornella replied 9 years ago

So pretty. Can we see it with more fluid top? I think the jacket here is taking some of the limelight of the skirt's cut.

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Lyn it's a faux leather with a back ponte panel. From Rivers of all places!!

Ornella, yes! I have worn with a fluid top but wanted to try a specifically work look.

Lots of angles here- love the way you have styled this skirt!!! This is so work appropriate and so you, Deborah!

Deborah - this is such a great piece and a fab outfit.  The angular lines of your hair look wonderful with the angles of the jacket and skirt even the pleats on the blouse.  Edgy and classic, refined but fashion forward, butt kicking ladylike.  I don't think it can get better than that!!  What did Master 11 say?

  • rute replied 9 years ago

    Love! Matches your style perfectly!

  • kkards replied 9 years ago

WOW. ditto what gryffin said! perfect blend of fashion forwardness and wearable for work!

Absolutely a huge fan! This is just the very best career/work look. Whoever designed this skirt did so with you in mind. 10++

I loved it even before I saw the back panels and then I loved it even more. Great jacket and top (and hair!) too!

  • donnat replied 9 years ago

I love that skirt. It looks great on you.

Agree completely with Gryffin... the angles in your hair are repeated and link up with the skirt for literally a "head to toe" look.
Even the jacket repeats the angles  - in a Kibbe Dramatic look.

It suits you - and BTW : Your hair color is fantastic !!... she did a wonderful job. This color is cooler and your skin looks very good in it. Be careful not to wash too much. I have found that toner is very temporary - tends to wash out easy - even easier than the semi's- my personal experience only.

The skirt is great on you and its structure is very work appropriate when paired with the jacket. Nicely styled and I love the shape of your hair! I assume it's getting chilly near you, so trying sheerer hose, perhaps with a bit of texture may be impractical, though I am curious to see how it would offer a different look.

I really do not know how you find these pieces in Rivers, I never can. Next shopping meet up must have Rivers on the menu, so that you can teach me how to shop.

So fab!  It fits your style perfectly, has a fun asymetrical hem, faux leather, and I bet the ponte panel keeps it comfortable.  Of course it had to come home with you!

Accidents are the Happiest. Happy Accidents of course you had to bring this home.  I love the proportions.

    It totally works.

I LOVE how the cream picks up the colour in your hair. xo

  • Marley replied 9 years ago

Definitely works Deborah!  Love this on you - and your hair is wonderful!

  • Parsley replied 9 years ago

    LOVE this, Deborah!
You've managed to look business-like but still have some edginess. I love the way the skirt echoes the line of your hair, and the contrast of the white blouse with the black. Super look!

  • Lyn D. replied 9 years ago

    A hidden gem for sure!
I have 2 shirts from Rivers coming up to their 3rd season- who knew?

  • cciele replied 9 years ago

Wow, Deborah, that skirt is fantastic! I love the avant-garde look that's going on here. Minimal color palette, various textures and angles. And your new hair cut works so well with this look!

Deborah, your new skirt looks super luxe! I love the cream blouse with your hair too.

Well of course that lovely had to go home with you! It looks perfect for you. I adore all the interesting lines and angles in this outfit. Your whites and creams worked beautifully with your hair before but they work even more dramatically with the new hair!

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Definitely works for your elegant style. The new skirt provides a wonderful contrasting texture that makes you look like a walking work of art.
