WIB : Colour Me Pink!

Well I figure Rick (Owens) is playing with pastels, therefore so can I.  See we are all lemmings in one way or another :)

I have bought it, so not a keep or return and it was on sale so no return.  But even so, please be honest (re selling is always an option).

In the first instance, I plan to wear it over a Metalicus black tube dress and sandals with sleeves pushed up.  My make up needs a little softening, so a definitely a softer lip colour and probably no cheek colour:)

This is clearly not styled at all, but what do you think?

Have I gone mad??

And to my fellow Sisters of Darkness, I am not crossing over to the other side!  I won't be making a habit of this lol.  I did think it could be a cool way to wear black?

Thank for checking it out.

xxx Deborah

You look gorgeous in that color, Deborah! And even though the color is soft, it's still an edgy style.
    Big thumbs up!

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Thanks so much Parsley:)  I was actually very nervous to post it:)

Wow, I love it! The color is beautiful ln you. I hope Angie sees this, although she's traveling. I predict you'll really surprise her. It's a completely different version of you.

  • Peri replied 9 years ago

I love it! I'm against all absolutes, so not being allowed a color because I always wear another color would not sit well with me at all. Have fun with your wildcard!

  • Beth Ann replied 9 years ago

Yummy color!  A soft pink with black (and white and grey for that matter) is fab!

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Peri I can be very 'absolute' lol.  It is very intentional tho, I just don't see many colours in garments that I like.

Beth Ann you have just reminded me I have a grey tube dress hmmmm.

  • gryffin replied 9 years ago

I love it Deborah! I think the style is fab and it looks wonderful on you! Enjoy it!

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Gryffin... thank you!  My sense is the style works for me and the colour is subtle enough to work with my general aesthetic.  Pieces like this are also quite good for work under jackets.  The top does actually have a closure up a higher so it does wrap more fully and I wouldn't have to wear another top underneath.  This could work well with a pant suit for the office.

Holy mother of pearl. Rick Owens AND Deborah do pink?  My god do you look beautiful in this colour!  Enough said.  Keep and wear.

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Lisa you are so funny!  Thank you. I think my style moto would be "if it's good enough for Rick, it's good enough for me" :)  We are looking at low to high 20's for the weekend so I might get to trot it out soon.

Plonk! Deborah in pink! I do so love the pink with the stripes. The piece has beautiful draping on you, which is something I associate with your style. I could imagine it working well over a black column too, but how fun that you went for stripes.

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Columbine the striped skirt is an aussie version of the VC one many of the Fabbers have.  Its not my norm but I am wearing it with a black draped Metalicus top and I really like it for the office.

  • karymk replied 9 years ago

Yes, agreed! you haven't sacrificed your edge with this color experiment. Brava!

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Still your sihillouette and so beautiful on you. Spring has sprung in Oz.

  • Neel replied 9 years ago

First orange and now pink? I must be dreaming! Pretty shade on you and still true to your style with the arty drapey front :)

  • ElleH replied 9 years ago

I was a sister of darkness, & though I haven't crossed over, now I play for both teams. I love this on you & love this pastel on you better than any pastel on me! You see I am a sister of darkness by nature with dark hair & eyes. It looks SO good on you with your blonde hair. It really suits you & I love it with the black & white dress probably more than I would like it with a black dress, though I would have to see it with one.

  • columbine(erin) replied 9 years ago

I think you should wear this combo again. :)

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

Whoo HOO! This is stunning on you! Absolutely love it. And Beth Ann is truly onto something -- pink and grey are a very 80s combination and that is something any Princess of Darkness can love. :)

I think the fact that it is a familiar shape for you and in keeping with your edgy, draped silhouettes, along with the unexpected colour, make it a potential winner.

OMG!!! OMG!!!! Someone needs to interrupt Angie's vacation in South Africa and send her a PM.  This is BIG NEWS!

(Seriously though,  I love it!  It looks great on you.)

  • carolbee replied 9 years ago

What????? I thought the colour on my computer had gone kaput, but no its Deborah in pink! This looks fab, I know you aren't moving to the other side, but these little vacations freshen up your wardrobe, especially in the warmer weather.

  • kellygirl replied 9 years ago

Wow! You must keep this. You are so pretty in pink! LOVE!

  • catgirl replied 9 years ago

    Whoa.

This is amazing. Are you lightening up with me?

  • Jeanie replied 9 years ago

Wow!  I can't stop looking at your pic! You look so amazing in this color....it's just so pretty on you and has just enough edge.

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Una, not exactly, but maybe. I don't generally like to wear bright colours, they don't feel like me and I don't feel they convey what I want to communicate. Deep colours and subtle shades are more interesting to me, however finding them in the styles I like is almost impossible. I came across this browsing at lunch time today and it just seemed to fit. Glad you like. Do you wear soft pink? I would imagine it would be very flattering.

  • Deb replied 9 years ago

I had to double check myself when I read your title! Deborah does pink? On reading further I acknowledge Deborah does pink very well. Lovely to see you do an uncharacteristic colour. Enjoy the change, clearly all the YLFers are!

  • rabbit replied 9 years ago

I really love this color pink (I have a sweater in this tone that always gets compliments), and IMO it goes really with black and your coloring.  In a way it can sometimes function as a skin-tone neutral like blush for some folks.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

I love this top on you, Deborah, color and all! I even like it with the outfit you're wearing it with. You could look at it as a different shade of white. (Only half joking. It's such a soft shade, it strikes me as a variation on white, actually, as the lightest pastels are, I guess.) Anyway, it still looks very much like your style, and it should be fun to mix with your wardrobe. And it's a bonus that it can go to work easily! You might not need to change your makeup; I think red lips are fine with an outfit that is grounded in black.

  • Marley replied 9 years ago

Well my word!!! How is it possible that our Queen of Darkness could look so darn beautiful and EDGY in a soft pink?????? You know what makes this so cool to me is that the shape, drape, and style of the top is something that you would expect to see in black - but PINK takes it to a whole new level of edginess! I love this on you Deborah and I don't see it as you betraying your signature style at all. This only makes your style a little more unexpected and enticing - like "I wonder what Deborah will do/wear next?" Well done!

  • replied 9 years ago

Wow! You look wonderful! Such a change, but still essentially 'you'.

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

Well, when in your striped skirt WIW you mentioned buying a PINK top, I had to go search that out! I missed this post somehow. I love it. The drapey style is very YOU, and the colour looks lovely and fresh. It will play well in your wardrobe. Nice change :)

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

Love the drapey style, love the color!

  • texstyle replied 9 years ago

I'm so glad you posted this - it looks really great on you, and IS still your style. I think it will be a fun addition to your wardrobe and agree that maybe a slightly lighter lip shade will work really nice with it.

  • Eliza replied 9 years ago

Love this on you! The shape is beautiful and the essential Deborah; the color is amazing! Can't wait to see how you make the most out of it.

I have never been a pink or pastel wearer, but had one piece in a similar color last spring that I loved to wear. It opened my eyes to new possibilities and garnered unexpected compliments.

  • shedev replied 9 years ago

Great wildcard. I like it with the striped skirt.

  • Astrid replied 9 years ago

I would have never imagined you in pink, but it's awesome! Great wildcard.

  • Lyn D. replied 9 years ago

Oh, where will you hang this Deborah?
I have a hard time with completely different colours or styles when it comes to storage- they can look so odd  in my closet :) :)
NOT odd ON you though, it looks soft and beautiful!
    - perhaps you will need a separate wardrobe for your one-offs and wildcards.

  • Caro in Oz replied 9 years ago

Gotta love wildcards - I love the colour on you & the style is great :) Can't wait to see how you work it into your wardrobe :)

  • Elle replied 9 years ago

I love the color on you and black and pink is a classic combination.  Keep.  The top would also look good with gray

  • Staysfit replied 9 years ago

You wear pink well! It's a great addition. I'm glad you decided to share this as well as your tendency to avoid color. It's a good reminder that it can pay off to experiment with something new to spice up a wardrobe.

  • Gigi replied 9 years ago

This is wonderful! I vote keep.

  • Sharon replied 9 years ago

This looks beautiful on you, Deborah. Even with the lighter colour you have stayed rue to your aesthetic with the style of the top, and I think that shade is lovely with your colouring. I'm betting you will wear this a lot over the warmer months!

  • viva replied 9 years ago

That particular pink is just drop dead gorgeous, Deborah. I love it on you, and it works because the style is so completely you. Absolutely love it.
