Unstructured Structure

Happy Weekend Ladies,

Busy weekend and am feeling a bit faded this Sunday afternoon, so after taking some pics of some clothing to go on Ebay, I decided to have a play with a new tunic and intentionally create an unstructured structured look. My jackets are not getting enough outings and I would really like to work them into less "corporate" or conservative looks.

Forgive me for not actually putting this on (I'm too tired:() but I have a willing model in Miss Singer 150 :)

The outfit is a sleeveless grey self patterned draped tunic over a pencil skirt with a collarless jacket. Haven't quite worked out footwear.

I'm going for grown up, tailored with a twist. I do realize that I need to pop this on myself to be sure it works, but in theory what do you think?

I have been thinking a lot lately about this blend of structured and unstructured pieces as this really resonates for me, and am looking forward to playing with other elements in my closet.

And Shannon's post here

has me rethinking my sheath dresses which haven't been out much lately. Perhaps adding unstructured jackets/topper would bring them new life?

Rambling a bit now..sorry.

Thanks for looking.
xxxDeborah

    I adore it.
The nipped in waist in particular will supply the structural element in the equation you are seeking.
Would you wear tall boots with this?

Lantana, thanks:). I think tall boots might work best. And I can't quite picture ankle booties with this.

I love it! Sophisticated (the colour palette helps with that too), tailored and a little bit arty. I suppose that's the twist. From the few WIWs of yours I have seen I can imagine this looking very flattering and very you.

I agree this definitely has the artsy vibe going on!  i think bringing new life to the sheaths with unstructured jackets would be wonderful... Have fun reworking things in your closet!

Beautiful - love the texture & the short over long is a favourite of mine at the moment :)

This is gorgeous, Deb. The tunic is so lovely -- what is it? I admire your ability not just to wear, but also to find this type of piece, which always seems to elude me in stores. Can't wait to see a version of this on you.

Looks terrific! Color palette is totally you, and I like the arty twist.

Omg, I LOVE this. The dark moody palette, the drapiness, the structured jacket... I so want this entire outfit.
I'm curious to see the entire tunic so I can see the construction.... Wondering if I can knit a lace something in a similar style.

    ETA: heeled oxfords maybe?

I am usually terrible at visually an ensemble on an actual person but this really looks perfect for you and I can't wait to see you model it Deborah!

Ladies, thanks so much for checking this out.  It as fun putting together outfits on Miss Singer :)  I did a couple more outfits too.

I have a work function on Friday and think I might try this one out then.

Do I even have to say what I think???

Your artistic layering just blows me away Deborah and I love this outfit - although I know it will look even better on you than Ms. Singer!

I can hardly wait for my sweater to arrive to see if I can make it work. It's fun playing with new ideas and silhouettes isn't it?

I love the variety of layers and the monochromatic color scheme. The tunic is divine. Excellent to have cooperative ms. singer on the hook too, looks like a lot of creative outfit planning fun :)

I would wear this in a heartbeat!

What fun to see the unstructured structure!  Love the tonality and the way the pieces look nicely proportioned together.

Looking forward to seeing it modeled!
