WIW: Animal Booties

Hi Ladies,

This is a little plain for me I think:). But I really want to start wearing my black and white animal print booties. This is only their second outing and I got them for Christmas.

Black and white seems the obvious choice but I am wondering what else I can do with them. I do love them and they are comfy.

Outfit is my winter weight slouchy pants, white sleeveless satin blouse (semi tuck) and collarless jacket.

Any ideas, or thoughts on how to make this outfit less boring.

xxxDeborah

    A picture would help

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

    Darn... where did they go???

  • Caro in Oz replied 10 years ago

Has the cold weather made you crazy Deborah?
    How can this be boring?
These are too fab - one of my favourite outfits :)
Booties would look great with some of your grey pieces, with red, with cobalt with cream or white................

Thanks Caro, maybe my brain iced over like my car was this morning:)
I have been a bit stuck in my mind on black and white with the booties, but I do think grey and reds could look good too... thanks for the suggestion.  My challenge with this is that they are flat, the heel is approx 3cm.  I think I might find them easier to wear if they had a higher heel.

I think i see what deborah sees, but i do not find it boring. It's just a different silhouette.

    Btw, love.

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Thanks bj, yes I think you are right.  This is perhaps leaning a little more to classic or corporate wear which I am a little off at the moment.  Mind you this is an office outfit :)

  • Caro in Oz replied 10 years ago

Yes, I agree with flats I tend to tone down any volume or things can look out of proportion - but this is NOT boring.

Love the booties, if you get sick of them you can send them my way! Caro has some great suggestions. If you want to amp this up what about a belt, silver maybe, or maybe a black and silver statement necklace?

I love these! With your hair, I think you can wear them with any color, really. Maybe start by pairing them with solids?

FWIW I think it is far from boring too, but Caro and others have made good suggestions for other shades. Would the jacket go over a more drapey, unusual cut top that was longer? Maybe the white top is adding to the corporate vibe. Still fab though :)

Nothing is boring on you Deb:-). Snakeskin (gorgeous)booties, the tote which has a great modern shape, and your great hair is doing all the job here-but you can always mix in more pattern or colour(in the top).

  • replied 10 years ago

Not boring! Just different than what you have been wearing. How about with your striped skirt?

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Ooh Ceit that would be out of my comfort zone! I might try it and see how it looks... Thank you:)

  • replied 10 years ago

I really like the boots, and I see the classic pattern as being a faux-neutral.  (Is that the right term?)  I think they could go with any color or even pattern.

And you could never be boring, my dear!

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

Not at all boring. Those booties are fantastic!

I don't see this outfit as boring at all Deb - I see it as elegant, classy and very stylish. Do you see it as boring because it is missing your arty layering or other details?

I love the white blouse pulling out the lighter tones in the animal print booties, which are stunning BTW.

  • catgirl replied 10 years ago

I love this although I see it as more conservative than your usual looks (though animal print booties are not!).

  • trinity replied 10 years ago

I love the outfit as is but think it would also be fab with red.

  • annaj replied 10 years ago

    I think you need this:

The mix of animal prints and splash of cobalt would be great!!

"This is a little plain". What are you smoking???

    :)

Debs, this outfit is KILLER to the power of KILLER - and I don't say that often at all. I love the white against your face with the black. So flattering, alive, soft, alluring and attractive.

    That's what I see!

I think you look great in the photos! I understand wearing the booties with patterns is out of your comfort zone, but you could pair with other colors besides variations on cream and black. I love the idea of cobalt blue mentioned above or perhaps a beautiful green? (Personally, I'd wear them with something red, but that's me.)

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

I am with Angie. I adore this! But then I do love a good modern classic look. The pleats on the blouse are a lovely, simple, sculptural touch.

  • ElleH replied 10 years ago

Love this outfit! You look stunning. I don't think it is boring. I'm not used to seeing you in more colour than this. If you want to wear colour, any colour would go with these booties. They are neutral.

  • Vicki replied 10 years ago

With those incredible boots and the awesome drape of your slacks, this is not boring, Deborah!  I'm sure you're melting ice wherever you go, and if you need to add any color, how about a touch of red or a vibrant blue scarf (a small one and not too overwhelming) to wrap around your neck?

Frankly, "as is" with the black and white, is just fine with me, and you can let the animal booties do the talking.

  • CocoLion replied 10 years ago

You look terrific!  What about wearing them with red, cobalt or white?  Or grey/charcoal?

  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago

    Such FAB booties Deborah!
How do they cope with the damp weather?

  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago

How about swapping the black bag for red?
    Love the blouse too!

  • Mellllls replied 10 years ago

Hi Deborah, I would suggest a different pair of pants to punch up the outfit. I like the shirt, blazer, and booties.

  • Lantana replied 10 years ago

You look lovely Deborah but I am hearing you so I trawled through your blog for some ideas of other choices. perhaps you could try it with your grey Target top or the black collared shirt. You posted an all black plus red necklace where I think you could successfully swap out the black booties for the animal print booties.
But do you know, the really fab combination which is grabbing me is the fabric on the cushion in your photo! :)

This is a fabulous outfit with the booties the star of the show. Not boring at all.
I like the outfit as you have styled it, but you could add a black a d white print scarf for some pattern mixing with the booties if you feel it needs something more.
