WIW : Minimalist Tuesday

Hi Ladies,

Easing into Spring wear at the moment:)

I woke up this morning wanting to wear my Cos white shirt.  And as usual black seemed like the appropriate accompaniment :)

I think I *might* be slowly moving to more streamlined, minimal looks?  Still a little drape but perhaps a tad more structure.

Outfit:

A.Joy Waterfall Jacket
Cos White Shirt
L.Linda coated jersey pants
Hush Puppies ankle boots

Kept accessories to a minimum, with silver rings and silver earrings, and my watch.

Thanks for looking.  Suggestions for improvement, etc much appreciated.

xxx Deborah

I see what you say, are the top layers both woven, Debs? The jacket  has the perfect balance between structure and drape andf I love the whites for easing into spring looks, you nailed it again!

    I love it.

You are so skilled at layering.  I love the way the shirt interacts with the jacket, creating architectural lines.  Outstanding.

I really love the interesting lines that are created with the jacket over the shirt...so fab!

Love this on you! The black & white with q pop of red is the perfect look in my books and one i can swear by :)

You really are an expert layerer. I wish I could have you over to help me.
    Really lovely as usual.

Interesting white shirt. Any old white collared button up would have been boring here, but this is very you.  Really great.   Your style is very clean and pristine - how do you like wearing white shirts?  (in terms of the care needed and the one-wear issue)

Love love love this - and it is just a touch more minimal (your style was already minimal).  Happy Spring!  We're eagerly awaiting fall over here - last week was gloriously cool, but it's back near 90F this week.

Your expertise in layering serves you well in creating minimalist looks that are interesting. I applaud your move toward drape with a bit more structure. YLF

    Killer Gorgeous.

Great look!  I like the contrast of the white and black together.  In the photo, it's a little hard to tell where the pants end and the boots start, which makes for an interesting, streamlined look.

This is really great! The collar seaming and vertical line on that shirt are just so beautifully, minimally perfect. The essence of great design.

Whatever your moving into is working! LOVE!

Love this. Definitely minimalistic yet so impactful...your sense of style and advanced layering skills never fail to leave me in absolute awe of your WIWs, Deb.

    Inspirational!  Great look today.

Ooh, excellent! I love seeing the progression of your style. This is still trademark Deborah, but with a bit more structure, indeed.

    Love the jacket :)

I love this too, it is hard to give constructive feedback because you seem to nail it every time.  I love this white shirt with no collar.

I wonder if your weight loss has led you to more minimalist looks rather than volume/draping.  I think there is a big cross over so you can be consistent in style with some days more draped, and others more crisp.

You look lovely and chic! Your hair is so adorable.

Deb, I absolutely adore this. The bits of white emerging from the dark topper are just perfect. This may be one of my favorite of your outfits ever and that's saying a lot!

    Thank you!
Lyn67, yes, both the shirt and jacket are woven.  The majority of my jackets are knit, so this is a little different, but still has flow and drape.
donnat, how much fun would it be to play in the closet together:)
Lisa, a white shirt has been a HEWI of mine for years.  They are high maintenance and most of my clothing isnt:)  I couldn't have a wardrobe full of high maintenance items but one or two is ok.  The shirt does need to be washed after each wear and it needs to be pressed but it's a very easy shirt to care for.  I wash it on it's own in the machine, hang to dry, and the cotton presses quickly and easily.  Angie, thank you.  Who would have thought I would have begin a love affair with white?  Maybe you??
Sally,  you are wise and dead on.  My weight loss has been a very positive step for me not only health wise (which was the ultimate motivation) but style wise.  I do feel more confident in myself, and more confident in the minimal and streamlined looks that I love.  I feel my figure can now carry of some of these looks better as there are less (or less visual lol) bumps and lumps to interrupt the clean lines.

Thanks all, I really liked this outfit, and your positive words are affirming.

I love how the jacket has both structure and drape. Beautiful outfit!

  • Elizabeth P replied 8 years ago

Another total winner! Like Sally, I was wondering if your weight loss is inspiring you to wear slimmer silhouettes. You look fantastic.

  • Deborah replied 8 years ago

    Elizabeth & Shevia, thank you.

Elizabeth, if I am honest with myself, some of my love of drape has to do with how it 'hides' or disguises my lumps and bumps, so I am feeling a little more free with my silhouette at the moment :)

Great outfit. I'm loving the structure!!

  • Greyscale replied 8 years ago

Ooh. If you're moving in that direction, I think I'm running along beside you!
