WIW : Culottes & Tall Boots

Hi Ladies,

I am SO SICK of wearing leggings and skinny ponte pants lol.  I never thought I would say it, but I am:)  Spring please come soon!

Still cold here but I really needed a change so out came the culottes.

I am still working on what toppers work best for me with culottes, generally they need to be short-ish and not oversized which means I have had to keep a eye out for a couple as I don't have much that fits the bill.

Today I started with the culottes, added wedge heel, tall suede boots, a short sweater, semi tucked and a thin belt with silver hardware.  I really liked this and feel it's indicative of a shift to a more minimal look.  it may get repeated for work and/or church this coming week.

The sweater is from Motto http://www.motto.com.au/on-sal.....71_1001273 and is textured.  It is longer than my Metalicus sweater which is a truer 'cropped' cut.  I can see I may have to split my loyalty between Metalicus and Motto lol:)

What do you think?  I know the culottes are not a traditionally flattering look, but I am really do love them and would like to develop more pairings for them.

    I love these culottes on you.  The great thing is, that with your boots you get to wear them in winter, and when the weather warms up - they will look great with ankle strap pumps.  The long column of black is super flattering, you look slender and the semi tuck shows off your waistline.

    Super duper proportions Deb. I really like this look. The sweater has lovely drape to it and the sliver of belt is a lovely addition of detail.

    I like this look a lot.  I will echo what others have said about the way you have styled them give you a long line.  The sweater has a nice drape and some visual interest.  Love the detail on the belt.

    I really like your culottes on you, styled like this! The outfit is elegant, and the bit of silver on the belt is an extra nice accent.

    I think this absolutely works and is quite elegant. The boots are a genius way to extend the wear season of the culottes. As for being sick of skinny ponte pants and leggings, well, I can certainly understand that feeling in winter!! I hope you get to expose a bit of flesh soon!

    This really is a different silhouette for you Deborah and it looks really nice.  I hear what you are saying about cullottes being tough to get right but the monochrome look and minimal accessories really works well and is also flattering.  You look great and pulled off a tough look.

    I love your outfit! Culottes with boots are one of my favorite Fall looks! I need to find a pair that is thick enough for Fall.

    My eye has adjusted to the culotte silhouette and I really like them! I think maybe un-tucked on top might be flattering as well?

    I like this too - and I had to laugh at your comment about being so tired of leggings and ponte pants.  As much as I am looking forward to wearing "real" clothes soon (fall) , I know that will be me all too soon moaning about how tiresome winter dressing can get. Anyways, yes, culottes are a tough thing to wear flatteringly but you've pulled it off here with the finer gauge knit top and the bit of silver in the belt. Just enough to balance the heaviness of the culotte.  Really nice with the suede boot, too.

    Yes! That was my favorite winter look last year - culottes and tall boots. So fresh compared to skinnies tucked into boots.
    I think culottes are brilliant for winters because they give you a vibe of a skirt while keeping you warm as pants - win-win in my book!
    (can you tell I am culotte crazy? I think I need a new pair now :-) )

    Thanks ladies.  Right now I feel like culottes will be an ongoing part of m wardrobe regardless of trend.  I am particularly looking forward to wearing them in Spring with bare legs!!

    When I see your Fab culotte outfits I am reminded that I actually should drag mine out too!
    So sick of cold weather, but I know it will take time to get into Spring dressing when the time comes!
    I like the Motto jumper- do you have a Motto store in Bendigo now?

    This is a great look!  I like the simplicity of the sweater, belt, and culottes.  I like them with the high boots and now I'm wondering where I can get a pair.

    Hi Deb I haven't visited the forum for an age so getting a wee dose of your style vibe was heavenly. I'm a big fan of culottes - perfect for my pear shape. I love how you've worn them - simple, sleek and very classy.

    Will keep in my mind this silhouette for the colder winters. Love your culottes, esp as they don't have the weird fly on the front-they drape, but still have some good structure to my eyes!  And you did it so well with that belt peaking out between the top and low part, adds some more polish!     I really like the way you styled the culottes. I especially know what you mean about getting tired of leggings and skinny pants, that's really all I wear in winter for practicality. Culottes would be a refreshing alternative I didn't consider but will have to try.
