WIW : To A Wedding

Hi Ladies,

I posted about what to wear to this wedding about a month ago and really appreciated your input.  But of course, I changed my mind about what I would wear last night lol.

I really shouldn't think about it until 24 hours before because I really never know what I will 'feel' like wearing!

Quick snap and flash went off so sorry not a great photo.

At the last minute (almost) I decided I wanted to wear my Metalicus Plaza Drape Dress.  This dress is amazing and seriously it can go anywhere.  It has short sleeves and we are still in the throes of winter so I wore my navy Metalicus Chios Washed Jacket.  Black sheer hose, Wittner pumps and Green Clutch.  Accessorized with silver.

There was no dress code on the invitation, and I was probably a little more 'smartly' dressed than the majority (Aussies can be quite casual) but that was ok and I felt great.

I am really grateful to Angie and YLF as weddings used to cause me quite a bit of stress and now I simply shop my closet and feel confident ... wohoo.

Side note:  I am glad I didn't go with the black Laura Ashley Dress as it really would have been a little 'dramatic'/ OTT for the event:)

Thanks for looking.

xxx Deborah

Black and navy- tried and tested fab-ness! I would never think to add lime green, it really is a great addition. I hope you had a fun time at the wedding.

Beautiful! And three colours in one outfit. I think it's fab.
I forget who said it, but a comment was made along the lines of, "it's not you who is overdressed, it's everyone else who is underdressed".

You look so great! How awesome that you can just shop your closet for special events now, no angst!

Perfect outfit for a winter wedding. Love the navy/black/citron combo!!

  • jenanded replied 9 years ago

Lovely! I too am having a bit of a revisit of hose and 'lady shoes' after wearing more of the edgy styles. It looks great on you!

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

    Thanks so much ladies!

Jen I do have a bit of a standard "uniform" for weddings because you just never really know these days what to expect. I feel this kind of outfit is never going to be inappropriate or out of place.  It's a bit safe, yet still with my trademark drape :)

Stunning. I absolutely love this elegant outfit. The blue jacket and the touch of silver with that green clutch is amazing.

  • cheryle (Dianthus) replied 9 years ago

Beautiful Deborah.  The blue looks somewhere in between cobalt and navy on my monitor and it works so well with the black.  That shape is fab too.

YLF and the pop of green totally unexpected. and you're right, this is the prefect "uniform" for wedding. i need to develop something similar.

  • shedev replied 9 years ago

    It looks really good.

  • unfrumped replied 9 years ago

    Jacket is divine.
I think it's a great outfit because is dressy and chic, but still " approachable", which I think is good for weddings-- looking special and " making an effort" but not so being overly dramatic in presence of the bride and wedding party.
Beautifully done! You have curated great pieces.

Killer to the power of Killer

You know you have to leave me that clutch in your will. It matches my specs.

  • harmonica replied 9 years ago

Amazing! Love the colours and that clutch is stellar!!

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

Outstanding. I love that blue jacket. Wow! And the green clutch is unexpected but works SO well. Just gorgeous.

You know what is so refreshing here?  The black sheer hose and refined pumps.  It is so elegant and classic - and an appreciated change from the default black tights/bootie combo we all seem to fall back on in winter.  So, so pretty.  The green bag is a stunning finishing piece - against your blonde hair it is perfect!

  • Diana replied 9 years ago

You look great, and the lime clutch is just perfect. (And psst, Angie, it matches *my* specs too! ;))

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

    It does, Diana?

  • Cococat replied 9 years ago

Gorgeous! I love those chunky heeled Wittner pumps!

  • Summer replied 9 years ago

You look sensational, Deborah.  I'm another who marvels at the versatility of your wardrobe. To be able to shop your closet for a wedding - and have the option to change your mind along the way - has to be the ultimate in wardrobe planning.

  • MsMary replied 9 years ago

Oh my goodness, this is sensational! And the bag is the perfect finishing touch!

  • Jenn replied 9 years ago

The clutch makes the whole outfit, Deborah. Brilliant way to add a special touch for the occasion.

  • lyn67 replied 9 years ago

Exactly as expected!:-) Beautiful and so glam with that biggest seen ever clutch in green! That shade is so unexpected (and maybe a bit rare, too) but feels so artsy with the ink in your topper! Love it!

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

I love that clutch! The whole outfit is gorgeous perfection on you.

  • Lyn D. replied 9 years ago

You looked fantastic Deborah, and it was a lovely day weather-wise for a wedding too!

  • Caro in Oz replied 9 years ago

Missed the original post but I don't see how any other outfit could be better. This is totally fab - elegance & drape :) :)

  • replied 9 years ago

Stunningly chic Deborah. The clutch is a perfect touch. I love seeing it make an outing. I bet you had a ton of compliments on it.

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

Gorgeous! The clutch was an inspired addition.

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Thanks so much and I am relieved the clutch worked. I was going to use my black and silver clutch but it looked "boring" lol. Then I tried a large coral envelope clutch but I found the colour jarring with the outfit. The green seemed right but Master 12 didn't like it. DH did but only because I could fit his keys and wallet in it !!

  • Roxanna replied 9 years ago

Lol! I hear that from DH often as well. Have to agree with lisap; the sheer hose and block heels lighten and balance the dramatic drape on top. Stunning.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

You are stunning in this outfit, Deborah! The dress is gorgeous as always on you, and it takes on a completely different character with the subtly dramatic jacket, super chic pumps, and the oversized bright clutch. Speaking of which, the clutch really stands out, in a magnificent way.

  • Brooklyn replied 9 years ago

Ha! I am glad I am not the only one who plans an outfit for an occasion for weeks in advance only to decide to wear something completely different the day before. You look great! I really like the 3 colours together.

  • Maneera replied 9 years ago

STUNNING. You look like a million bucks in this outfit, Deb. The colours come together so beautifully....and your signature style truly stands out. FABULOUS!
