WIW: As the holidays come to a close

Hi Lovely Ladies,

Well my holidays (and Master 11's) are coming to a close.  We are back at school and work this coming Monday :(

Today, #1 - #3, I had a volunteer morning tea for my volunteers at the Community Meal and wore a midi tube skirt, draped grey sleeveless top and Metalicus vest.  I have mostly been wearing this vest as a dress and think this is only the first or second time wearing as an actually vest.  I cannot wait for the cooler weather as I think this vest is going to get lots of wear.  It's a wool blend and will work across all seasons.

Yesterday Master 11 and I went to catch our last movie of the holidays (got to love $10.00 Tuesdays) and went to the cinema to see the new Australian movie, Paper Planes.  It was wonderful.  Mum got caught crying in a movie... again!   For comfort, #4 - #6 , I wore my Urban Outfitters harem leggings, asymmetric white sleeveless top and a new vest / dress.  It has a centre zip and can be zipped and worn as a dress, or open as a drapey vest :)

Also wearing new black glass beads (2 strands)  Been looking for black beads for ages, primarily to wear with black tops (black on black - surprise) - ever since I saw a very cool photo on Pinterst -  and found them at a market on Australia Day:)

Any suggestions for improvement etc very much appreciated.

Oh and if you can think of any good excuses for not going back to work Monday...  do share... I have seriously enjoyed being away from work!!

xxx Deborah

Oh my goodness, these are two wicked outfits. Queen of drape. No question.
Have you shown us the vest worn as a dress? Love to see it if you haven't. Will pay more attention now I know. Cool piece.

My dd, also 11, has been off school since Thursday with a nasty virus. Not how I suggest you wangle a few more days off :(. I hope my other dd doesn't get it! Or me for that matter. And there's probably no chance of a snow day, huh :).

I love the drapey look of the vest/dress in both outfits. You look sylish, casual and interesting. No suggestions for improvement here.

If you do think of a good excuse let me know ;) I am struggling to get back in the work-groove myself.

Elizabeth, thank you!  I love that my outfits are "wicked" :)  Sorry about your daughter not being well.  Trusting for a speedy recovery.

Here is a picture of the best worn as a dress :)  It can be secured in a number of different places allowing for at least 4 different looks.  I figure that should ensure good cost per wear :)

Very, very cool. Cpw brought down indeed, one would never guess that was the same item.

  • rae replied 9 years ago

I always love the way you combine drama with elegance. Darn, now I must hunt down some black beads to copy you!

you look great. enjoy the end of holidays!

  • Marilyn replied 9 years ago

Beautiful outfits, Deborah!  You wear drapey pieces with such style and always look so chic.  Love, love, love the vest.

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

What an amazing piece, that vest! Love it. Love all your looks. Wow; just outstanding!

I would suggest what Elizabeth said...we've had a nasty winter virus circulating around here...kept DS1 out of school last week, DS2 out this week, and it's kept me pretty miserable but no sick days for mom. Stay healthy and enjoy your last days of holidays :) :) :)

Wicked you are, Deborah! I seriously share the love you have for the drapey, asymmetrical pieces (as evidenced by my dress today) and only wish we had access to Metalicus here! You look a treat and I can only imagine how you stand out in any situation when dressed as such. Serious envy here ;-)

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Dashielle, we definitely share a love of a similar aesthetic :)  Metalicus does ship internationally and if you ever need any assistance, just let me know.  Between myself and Lyn D, I think we have tried on every piece in their current range lol.

  • dashielle (Ann) replied 9 years ago

You are a bad enabler Deborah! Thanks for the assist though, I may have to take you up on your offer ;-) Now if I could only get my hair to be as cool as yours...I have highlights on the sides that I'm thinking of coloring magenta (GASP!). I'm sure the moment I do it, I'll have to interview for a new job or something!

Both outfits look great, very you, but especially loving the 2nd outfit. That veat truly is fab.

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

    Stunning!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

Wow, both of these outfits are stunning. You are looking "too cool for school"--or work! Will that suffice for an excuse?

  • Caro in Oz replied 9 years ago

Not a stay home solution but I think you should go work for Metalicus - they need you to show off their clothing :) :) I love the grey with the black Deborah.

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

LOL Caro I have already suggested to them they need open one of their love boutiques here!!

  • Dimity replied 9 years ago

These outfits are great. Love your new black beads.

  • Missey replied 9 years ago

I love that vest...what a fantastic piece for you!

  • gryffin replied 9 years ago

No one does drape as well as you do!!  As Rae said the perfect balance of drama and elegance plus ease and edge.  Truly wonderful!!  Hope your vacation and Master 11's was marvelous!!

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

The vest works terrifically! Great beads too!

  • Ruth M replied 9 years ago

Lovely drapey outfits.  And what a versatile vest/dress.  Have you tried all 4 of the ways it can be worn as a dress?  Do you like all 4 possibilities or do you think you will stick mainly with the one you added (which is fab)?  Wondering if we may get to see any of the other variations at some point :)

On a practical note, is the vest/dress easy to launder?

  • Helena replied 9 years ago

Yes, what Rae said ... drama and elegance. Really gorgeous!

  • lyn67 replied 9 years ago

The vest is really a great piece. Love the almost ankle length, and the front drapings. Love the white long, assimetric  tank underneath. The skirt, and thed the harem pants. And the new black glass beads. They all come together in a great and distinct artsy, dramatic with and edge style. Love!:-)

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

I am loving #5. Killer look, Debs. I love the addition of the white - and the black beads look fresh and fun on the white. The combination brings out your pretty eyes too.

And I only *just* realized that you are a knit-gal. You're wearing 3 knitted pieces here in both outfits - and I think all of them jersey. I never made that connection. xo

  • rachylou replied 9 years ago

    Wicked is right (!)

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Thanks  much, I really enjoyed wearing these outfits.

Ruth, I have worn all four versions and I like them all equally.

Angie, yes I love knit fabrics. My most structured and woven garments would be my jackets/blazers, but it is likely that any future blazers will be knit.  I am looking at updating my jackets for autumn/winter and have already replaced two older ones with a new Metalicus knit jacket.  It looks tailored and semi structured but it's so comfortable with it's stretch and movement.

  • Sal replied 9 years ago

I love both these looks Deborah.  I especially love the first one, it is so elegant, edgy and elongating. I think the black beads will get a lot of wear, you have a great jewelry collection that really adds to your look.

  • ElleH replied 9 years ago

Deborah you are killing it with your outfits lately! I love this!

  • Lyn D. replied 9 years ago

It is just as lovely as a vest Deborah- is it navy or black?

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Lyn it is black.  It was available in coral, black and grey :)
