What I Bought! B44 Skirt

... well the Aussie version!

Hope you are all having a lovely weekend:)

Found this today when I was returning something else. It's black and cream, fits like a glove and I just love the layering on this skirt. The dress just didn't work for me but I think this is ok?

My styling attempts are basic (its 5pm Sunday and I should be getting organised for the week), but I do think keeping it simple lets the skirt "shine".

Tried two different booties and high low top and also a longer knit jacket.

Do I keep this?

And any styling suggestions welcome:)

Thanks
xxx Deborah

Yes! That skirt has everything that I love in my own B44 dress. I'm so glad that you found it in black and cream. It really looks like you and fits like a dream.

(Also, you make me want to try layering an asymmetrical hemmed, floaty top over my dress. Lovely!)

  • Deborah replied 12 years ago

Kari you should try that! I sometimes wear drapey tops over dresses for a bit if variety :)

  • goldenpig replied 12 years ago

This looks lovely and I'm bookmarking this thread--I will have to try a drapey top sometime with my B44 dress. You look so chic! I love the black and white striped B44 skirt on you! I like version #2 best.

I love this skirt with the drapey top! Gorgeous. I think I prefer the black boots in this case. Definitely keep!

This looks so great and I can see it working so well in your wardrobe. KEEP

  • Suz replied 12 years ago

    Are you joking?

    KEEP!!!

You will wear this to death. It looks fantastic on you. Love the new booties, by the way. It's nice to wear lighter footwear for a change, isn't it? :-)

I absolutely love this skirt on you. You look incredible. I did not like the black booties with this skirt because it seemed to me they fought for attention. Give all the attention to the skirt.

    Love! Great find!

  • jayne replied 12 years ago

It is perfect, keep!. Liked without the extra draping and scarf best. All that seemed overwhelming

  • anne replied 12 years ago

It look great! Where did you get it?

I liked the top in 1 and 2, and the booties in 2 the best

  • Tanya replied 12 years ago

Gorgeous skirt and I love all the ways you have styled it. Please keep!

WOW! Everything about this outfit is WOW! The skirt is gorgeous on you Deborah.

  • Angie replied 12 years ago

Gorgeous! I prefer the light booties with this outfit.

    Beautiful!

Great score on the skirt! I love it. I prefer the black booties for their shape, not necessarily the black color. Have a great week!

  • cobaltblue replied 12 years ago

Lovely! I much prefer the light footwear here.

  • rute replied 12 years ago

LOVE! I'm in love with the way you styled it! The long cardi, the boots and the scarf.. perfect!

  • Scarlet replied 12 years ago

Definitely keep! I love the asymmetrical top paired with the skirt--simple and interesting at the same time.

This skirt looks amazing on you! And so your style. Without question, I'd keep it as it will go with so much of your wardrobe.

I like all of your options. The black booties are dressier, and look fabulous. With the grey booties, the large laces distract a bit (or maybe I'm alone with this?). Could you try tucking them or wrapping them around the ankle so they don't interrupt the line? With the lace issue corrected, I like both booties equally. (Hope my comments aren't coming off as too critical.)

Your black hi-lo top is so amazing, where did you get it?

  • Deborah replied 12 years ago

Thanks Ladies! Glad it's a keeper :) I spent a good amount of time last night perusing everyone's posts on styling the dress to get some ideas for the skirt.

Angie, I also prefer the lighter boot, the black just looked to heavy to my eye.

Suz, yes I am enjoying wearing lighter, and colored footwear, so much so that my black shoes are not getting much of a look in at the moment.

Anne, I found the skirt at Target! It was $35.00 and the fabric is excellent, good quality overall. They only had a couple and were hanging in a seemingly random spot in the store. I just happened to spot the stripe and dug deep and pulled out the skirt... I was quite pleased.

Rute, thank you. I like the idea of an alternate styling with layering something longer over the skirt.

Denise, I would never percieve your comments as critical. I always appreciate your considered responses. It seems any pair of lace up shoes I buy, have ENORMOUS laces :) I totally agree and I would do as you suggest with them to minimise the look of them.

The top was from Cotton On and was about $25.00 last year. It was longer with the back coming down to my knee. The front probably to mid thigh length. I found I wasn't wearing it so I took to it with the scissors two weeks ago and cut it shorter (it's that jersey type fabric that is not hemmed) and I have already worn it about three times

I am wearing the skirt to work today and have styled it differently to the photos and am in fact wearing long, fitted black boots with it. Unfortunately I overslept and had no time for photos but will try tonight when I get home and post. I am finding, due to the fit, that it's a very 'lady like' skirt.... small steps... no "striding" around the office for me today.

  • anne replied 12 years ago

I thought I recognized it! I tried on same skirt in April. Shop had only one and it was too small for me (plus I wasn't too keen on hobbling effect that you mentioned).

  • Deborah replied 12 years ago

Anne I am doing my very best to avoid the hobble and attempt a very lady like poise lol. Initially I found a random size 10 and I could not have walked in that but the 12 is more comfortable.

  • christy replied 12 years ago

Fabulous skirt! Love it on you. I also like it best with the lighter boots. All of the layers in #3 seems overwhelming on you, but I think you are going to get a ton of use out of this skirt! Can't wait to see how you styled it today. I have the same issue with my long skirt - definitely forces me to shorten my stride! :)

  • Kiwichik replied 12 years ago

You totally rock that skirt. I like it with the darker booties balancing up the darker top. Great buy!

  • ManidipaM replied 12 years ago

Now that's a fabulous buy for your style, Deborah!

I prefer the grey booties with this for their slight heft counterpointing the femininity of the skirt and the lighter colour that leavens the dramatic black-and-white on top.

  • lyn67 replied 12 years ago

Now, I want this skirt, too! Maybe we'll have it in the EU for fall, too? Love all your stylings, but the black booties are surely a bit more dressed up to my eyes. Gorgeous all together:-)
