WIW: Ensemble Variation

The vest with sleeveless top is a favourite ensemble of mine but as we are still in our cooler months I am wearing it with a long sleeve top.

I am in that transitioning seasons funk where I seem to loose all clarity and am spending way too much time fussing in the morning. Not sure how to avoid it.

Wearing new boots, slouchy pants, abstract patterned high low top (semi tucked) and vest.

How does this work to your eye? I like the way the vest takes my hips captive and provides some structure.

Comments, critiques, suggestions all welcome.

xxxDeborah

How does this look to my eye?

Killer to the power of Killer. xo

The semi-tuck makes your legs look so long. I really like this variation in silhouette on you. Great vest!

Deb, this works beautifully to my eye. I love the sweeping pattern of the top. I am a sucker for vests. (Love that phrase, "takes my hips captive.") And I really like the slouchy trouser on you.

    Are the booties comfy?

About seasonal change -- I hear you. Spring and autumn are always the toughest for me (especially spring) -- and especially early in the season where the weather doesn't fully know what it is doing, and when I'm sick and tired of most of my seasonal wardrobe but not yet able to wear most of the next season's things. The only solution I know of is to play a bit with silhouette, colour, etc. or bring out a few lesser worn combinations.

Or, uh, travel somewhere to another climate. :)

Angie you do know how to give a girl a boost.. thank you.

Shevia, I must admit that  is one of the thinks I like about this cut of pants along with the semi tuck.  The vest is Zara and is very versatile piece. Thanks.

Suz, cross posted !  And trust me my hips need to be controlled lol

The booties are insanely comfortable, I am so thrilled, they were such a good find.

Good advice re the season change and wardrobe. This happens to me every season change.  I may have to be a more organised and at least plan my outfits the night before until I am into the Spring groove.

I really like this proportion play on you, the vest is "captivating" indeed :) I love your new teardrop earrings too, super simple and architectural, perfect for your style. That top has a fabulous print, I see a large (lucky) number seven on it, do you?

Looks great Deborah! Those transitional times are always tough. Glad to hear the boots are working well.

um, Wow?! (That's how it looks to my eye.) Striking outfit on you! I like the way your semi-tuck shows off the flattering pleat detail on the pants. The new boots are proving themselves a worthy addition to your wardrobe. You look so tall. The print on that pullover is a perfect one for you--artful abstract design, and subtle palette. I like the dropped shoulders.

Love this outfit Deborah. The pattern on the top is gorgeous.

This is lovely Deborah - the booties are fab :)

Wowsers. I want those boots--but if I remember correctly, they are local?

Such a gorgeous top! Spring seems the season for swirls.

I with you on the seasonally confused thing:  I don't know how to dress for our coming fall weather at all.

I hereby dub you Queen of the Highwaisted Pants.

So glad you're loving the booties.  They remind me of my Rag & Bone Newburys, which I also consider comfortable given the heel is nearly 4".  Maybe not insanely so, LOL, but pretty tolerable.

As for the outfit, this one is true to you but slightly more conservative so perfect for those occasions when you do not wish to be as edgy.

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Thanks for the lovely encouragement ladies, and Denise you are so observant! I was running training today and needed a little more conservative and a little less edge;)

  • lyn67 replied 9 years ago

Aw, the new booties:-)) Love the silloutte, and that  faux tuck is perfection! Love the patterned (graphic?)top, among the drapey vest it gives a great  interest to the outfit!

I love this outfit - it has a structured, menswear vibe that really appeals to me, but you have kept the fluidity with the pants and the semi-tuck.

I hate this time of year. I hate the cold, I hate the rain and I hate the dark.  I am yearning for the sun! My solution has been to plan my summer wardrobe and daydream about wearing it. That always makes me feel a bit happier, even if it doesn't assist with the immediate problem of getting dressed! :)

Fabulous look! I often don't like vests, they can seem "fussy", but here you are stream lined and slick and it looks awesome :)

I love this.  This is my favorite fit for pants.   Loose and draping but with a bit of structure at the waist.  I would love to copy this one for fall here.

love it and you know I call the seasonal funk the time of year when I am more often then not dressed seasonally inappropriate because I am done and over with the previous season.
What I like most about the outfit is how you have slouch and structure at the same time.
The new boots make your legs look really long.

  • viva replied 9 years ago

I love this outfit! I have to say, I have not been a big fan of the long vest. I've had a hard time understanding the look as it is not something that appeals to me personally at all. I don't really get the proportion of it. But, here, I love it. It's integrated into the outfit in a way that makes sense to me. And I love the graphic sweater/top beneath it.

BTW, I totally understand being trapped in "transitioning seasons funk." I want to stay indoors until summer has gone, so that I can dress for fall. Right now, every day is a seasonal mashup that is impossible to dress for. Shorts and a wool sweater, perhaps?  :)

You look great! I like how the vest over top of everything really stretches you out in a long, lean, black way. Does that sound funny? You look great - and fab booties :)

  • texstyle replied 9 years ago

Oh Deborah, I love this on you!  Really great all around. You look fantastic.

  • columbine(erin) replied 9 years ago

I love that you have a beautiful long leg line and yet it's fluid. You look lovely.

  • rachylou replied 9 years ago

It looks fab, but interesting to me... I find it looks less *you.* It may be the showing of the waistline...

  • Lyn D. replied 9 years ago

It looks FAB Deborah, and I don't envy you having to find work outfits whilst the weather is transitioning!
The boots are the perfect new item for the end of Winter too.
I like the shoulder definition that vests bring to an outfit- how does it play with yesterday's tunic blouse?
