Shoe Purge K/Toss

It's a lazy Sunday afternoon here and I thought I would review what footwear I actually wore and didn't wear over our Spring / Summer.

None of these have enjoyed much love this season:(

#1
These are two tone black and white.  Comfy and I do like them. When I have reached for a more classic sandal this summer it has been these.  My instinct is to keep them.

#2
Same as #1 but with a "T" bar.  Black, white and bone.  Comfy and I like the 'idea' of them but I just haven't worn them.  Truth be told, I don't really like a "t" bar for me.  Move these on?  If I could removed the Tbar I would be inclined to keep as I like the bone and black together.

#3
Same as #2. Black, white and coral.  Wore quite a bit the two years ago but not once this year.  Issues as above.

#4
Very old and very loved sandals.  They have really had their day and I think I have moved on from these.  Pass on?

#5
These are old and have a platform.  I am not really into platforms any longer and am rarely wearing light coloured footwear.   I had these in black also and wore them into the ground but the lighter ones just didn't excite me in the same way.  Toss?

What say you.  Looks like I might be keeping 1 out of the 5??

Thanks for taking the time.
xxx Deborah

Hey Deborah... Keep 1 and pass on the rest.... You have lots more which are more your style xx

  • CocoLion replied 9 years ago

1 and 4 are my favorites.  #4 because they have a Courreges 60s-70s vibe.  But it's true they do look a bit worn.

  • rachylou replied 9 years ago

Ya, I'd go with keeping #1. I'm not feeling the t-straps.

  • abc replied 9 years ago

I would def keep 1 and maybe 2 if space isn't a concern but to be honest it seems like you're ready to let them go.

  • Sal replied 9 years ago

I think they are all nice sandals but I think 1 and 2 fill the same role. I like the coral ones the second best after 1.

  • dakotacheryl replied 9 years ago

#1 are keepers...I like #5, but they look too big for your feet to me.

  • Staysfit replied 9 years ago

I Would keep the first two. Even though #2 is similar to #1 I would keep. It's different enough and it fits you well. Plus it looks to be in good shape. I would toss the rest.

  • Jenny H replied 9 years ago

I would keep #1 and get rid of the rest. You'll have lots of rooms for new items!

  • Janet replied 9 years ago

I think you answered your own question. :-) Sounds like #1 is the keeper and you're ready to pass the others along. Good choice! All lovely shoes, but you are so smart about knowing what is truly working for you.

keep 1 and would you consider dying 5 like you did the light colored booties you did before to black and then you could wear them into the ground to. Or are you completely over platforms and it doesn\'t matter on the color of the shore.

Another vote for keeping one, and moving on from the rest.  The front of the sandals looks a little long in some of them too - and I've never been fond of those pointed footbeds . That's a personal picky detail though :)  Don't you find once any shoe/boot/sandal falls out of regular wear, they never find their way back in?  It's what seems to happen with my closet - once they've fallen off the "schedule" ,I've already found something newer and more current looking to wear anyways.  Happy Sunday Closet Cleaning!

I would pass on all of them. But I would check into dying #5 black.

  • Daria replied 9 years ago

Agree to pass on all of them besides possibly #1.

  • merwoman replied 9 years ago

You have really lovely feet - I'm inspired to try some black toe polish!

Ah back to the shoe question - I like the appearance of 1 the best, although I'm quite keen on #2 as well. Your foot looks very nice with the T strap.

  • lyn67 replied 9 years ago

Nr 1 is a keeper, for sure, and if you boss a bit around the nr 2(cut off that Tbar)nr 2 will still do for your wardrobe--pls keep them, too.

  • thimblelina replied 9 years ago

I've removed tbars before. If there's a bit of a raw edge on the black strap it usually can be polished away... I would agree, keep the first and only keep the second if you can monkey with it. Too bad about the last pair... I'd love to find something like that in a flat!

  • Keturah replied 9 years ago

It's always a tough line--still functional and wearable and yet you no longer have affection for them. I find that with my closet basics such as pants sometimes.

Unless you're dying to keep 1, I would pass them all on and make space for something new :)

  • replied 9 years ago

I think keep #1. Pass on the rest.

  • replied 9 years ago

I like 1 to keep, 2 and 3 can go, nothing really wrong with them but they're a little unrefined for your style, 4 IS nice, but yes, looking a little worse for wear, and 5 is a maybe keep IF you dye them as franniebsuggested?
They are not so great they'd be worth having dye transfer on your nice little feet.

  • Laura (rhubarbgirl) replied 9 years ago

I like one and maybe five for you. The rest look too long in the footbed, anyway, and not as much your style.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

1 is a keeper. I wonder about 5, though. I really like that style for you, and it seems a nice shade of nude for you. Do you think it's worth keeping in case you lean towards a nude look next season?
It's too bad 4 is worn out; you may need to keep an eye out for a replacement sandal to fill that hole.

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Thanks for the input!  Ok #1 are back in my closet and the others are in the donate bag.

Ideally #5 would be a great shoe for me, but I have had them for maybe 6 years and they just haven't had the wear.  I now have a bit of an aversion to platforms and the heels are a little worn.  I think I would rather update them:)

  • Windchime replied 9 years ago

Good decision making! Someone at the thrift store is going to get joy from your donations. And you have room for new pairs which pique your interest.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

Aha! Well, I think 6 years is long enough to tell. . . next!   :)

  • Dimity replied 9 years ago

I agree, good choice. My favourite is #1 too.

  • crutcher replied 9 years ago

Solution...which of these five pair makes your heart sing?...Which do you reach for when you want to look especially great?...If you can pick one, that is the one who is to stay with the closet...The ones which do not make your heart sing..go...(You know this is my solution for whatever and you will always get this type of response from me...smile)

  • Deb replied 9 years ago

Save #1, they look nice on your feet....T bars aren't the ideal style for petites and the chunkiness of #5 would be better suited to a taller woman. Someone will love them for you.

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

1 is my favorite and 5 looks like your style. You might hang onto those two pair as you move into warmer weather. 5 would look great with light neutrals.

  • Lyn D. replied 9 years ago

I agree re #1, and would perhaps try #2 without the T-bar for next Summer?
