WIW : Zebra

Hi Lovely Fabbers,

Like most of you I am juggling my work/homelife balance and I just haven't had the time for outfit pics, which is disappointing because it's so much fun:)

For Spring, I am finding that I am veering a little more to modern classic ??
With pants, blouse and jacket being my current preference for the office.

Sorry for the bad iPhone pic but had a moment in the office alone and was keen to see how this ensemble looked.

The jacket I posted at the beginning of the year as a K/R and you voted it could stay on the island, but today is it's first outing.  And I love it.  As the jacket is quite a statment I have kept everything else simple but added red pumps for that little 'something' to lift the outfit.  Black footwear just looked too dull.

How does this go as a work outfit.  The jacket reminded me of something I saw on Pinterest from Zara but is from our Target :)

I have had a revelation about me and pattern... the main pattern presence in my wardrobe at the moment is animal print.  For some reason I find it very appealing and even though it's been on trend for sometime it still feels fresh and I feel comfortable with it as part of my style persona.

Outfit details:  all items are from Target, except the red pumps which I 'designed' from  Shoes of Prey.

Thanks for looking and any recommendations for improvement always appreciated.

Happy Bendigo Cup Day to all

xxx Deborah

Fabulous, love the statement jacket and pop of red in the shoes. If you only like one type of print, animal print is a great one to embrace.

Of all the animal prints Zebra is hands down my favourite.  I love the way you backdrop it with the silky white blouse (really nice neckline)  and black pants and then pop it with the red shoes.

That jacket is very cool Deborah and I think it will be a great item for you.

The red shoes are perfect with this, Deborah. If you *had* to wear black shoes you could always add some color with a pendant.

How are Master 10 and the new pup?

YLF Deborah. Since finding snake-skin I realise what all the fuss was about with animal prints :) They work as a neutral, go with most things & elevate everything.

Thanks for the positive words ladies.  I am a bit fatigued by our daily changing weather and feeling quite uninspired style wise :)

pil, thanks so much for asking.  Master 10 and Dexter are bessotted with one another.  As a mum, it is just a delight to watch.  We are taking a weeks's holiday next week and have rented a house near the beach and Dexter will be coming with us so she is well and truly part of the family :)

Caro, you are so right.  I have a few non animal print patterns but I think it is the fact that they work as a neutral that makes them so easy to work with.

Stunning outfit Deborah! I'm in total agreement with your love of animal print. I always feel both classic and edgy when wearing it. Adore the pop of red on your feet.

So glad to hear the Dexter has settled right in and Master 10 must be over the moon about having this new best friend :)

So nice to see you in white with a spot of red. xo

The zebra print and red shoes look stunning. Have fun on your vacation next week!

I love this combination. I wore the same colors today and had the same thought- red booties elevated it a bit. And I agree on the appeal of animal prints.

Love this whole outfit, especially the pop of red. Thinking of Master 10 and Dexter makes me feel warm and smiley. Have a great time on your holiday

This is lovely, Deborah! I really like the pop of red.

And I understand completely about animal print. I have stripes as my main pattern, but animal print is a close second for sure, and I never seem to tire of it, at least if it's the right animal print.

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

Zebra is sort of the best of stripes and animal in my book. Love the jacket and the whole look.

Deborah, you look so polished and elegant!

Love the classic yet trendy outfit!  The red pumps are the perfect touch to this outfit.

I think this is a really, really fab outfit Deb! I hear you on the seasons, fatigue et al!!!

PS I hope we get to see some Deborah on holiday WIW's!!!

Hil, I'm taking my camera and tripod so you never know;).

Hi Deborah, I hear you on this weather! Longing for some consistency and sunshine.
Love the jacket- is it a stretch fabric? Just right for a topper while the days are still cool.
    Have a great break.

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Lyn isn't it just so boring the way the weather is  Tomorrow is expected to be 21 here, with Melbourne at 19 (Im in Melbourne all day for work meetings blah)  Dressing just requires too much thought at the moment:)

The jacket has no stretch and I think that may be why it took me so long to wear it.  It's a woven and is lovely and crisp, doesn't really crease etc but no movement in the fabric.  It was a bit of an impulse buy!!

Awh, this is one of my faves, Deb! Jacket is stunning, whites are so polished, and the red pumps! The incing on the cake! Love it, all as it is!

  • Mochi replied 10 years ago

Beautiful. My favorite cherry on top (or in this case, bottom) of the sundae part of this outfit are the cheeky red shoes peeking through.

Sorry I cannot say anything to improve it. This is so nice! (Besides, you don't need any help, you silly. You help others....)

This works very very well for work. I especially love the dots of red in the shoes but the jacket is beyond gorgeous. It definitely is the star of the show with everything else as supports. This look is simply fantastic.
I am surprised that you're veering in Modern Classic territory -- seems a little "in the box" for your persona, though I will admit that the starting point of your outfits seemed to be in the realm of Modern classic but they always end up in the land of impossibly chic.

I think that zebra is the most "underutilized" animal print, and I'm loving your jacket.  Yes to the red shoes and the white top, which is pearlescent and lighting up your face and hair.
