WIW Winter Layers

Hi Ladies,

Started the morning trying to put together an outfit based on Angie's boyfriend jeans post last night...but it just didn't work so I layered an symmetrical top over a patterned tunic. I was feeling a bit bored with the tunic and wanted to mix up the look a bit.

Does it work?

Thanks for looking. Hope you have a lovely weekend.

xxx Deborah

Oooh I love the layers and how the print peeks out from the top and the bottom. Very cool. You do red white and black and layered looks so well. Where did you get the black sweater from? I want to find a drapey black sweater like yours!

Thanks Natalie. The black sweater is more like a jersey/tshirt fabric and is from a store here called Cotton On. This style of top has been very popular and I have been on the look out for more but not many have the nice drape of this one.

Great layering & you look toasty warm too.

Great Mix 'n Match outfit Deborah and one that looks finished as is but will look lovely with added red scarf when you venture outdoors. It is certainly long boot weather at the moment isn't it?

You are the queen of layers and drap!

I love the drape of the sweater!

You are always coming up with layering possibilities I would never think of, Deborah, and I'm always smitten with them!-) Love the asymmetrical drapey sweater over that fab tunic (such gorgeous colour and strong pattern). Also love it how the sweater's lower neckline still allows us to see the collar of your tunic too.

What do you feel wasn't working in the boyfriend jeans outfit, Deborah?

    Have a great weekend!

Inge, I don't have proper boyfriend jeans so was playing around with straight legs. I have since seen your post which is totally inspiring (I can't recall if I commented) but that is the look I would like to recreate. I think I will see if I can thrift a pair of slimmer leg boyfriend jeans to have a try with. True boyfriend jeans just make me look short and podgy:)

  • Inge replied 12 years ago

Aha, got it Deborah (and thanks for liking my outfit). You could also try sizing up in regular straight leg jeans, that's what I intend to do when I start looking for my next pair (I would love a pair of boyfriend jeans that are not cropped but actually have a bit of scrunch at the ankles, not easy to come by, so I hope that can be a solution).

I hope you can find a pair you like! Do keep us posted.

Very cool! I think you've had several amazing outfits with asymmetrical hems/tops lately, and I love all of them.

Brilliantly executed! I love the way the asymmetrical hem mimics a diagonal line in the printed tunic. You have such an artist's eye with dressing Deborah. This is so pleasing to look at.

This is beautiful Deborah - I love how you incorporate asymmetrical draping in your outfits. It's so visually appealing.

One of my favorites, Deborah! As a matter of fact, I'll keep it in my favorites folder! Inventive layering, beautiful fit and proportion.
