WIW: Wide Leg Pants & White On White AKA Angie Made Me Do It

Hi Ladies,

One of my consistent style goals is figure flattery, but every now and again I don't mind breaking my own rules in order to simply wear something I like, and experience a change of silhouette.

I adored Angie's post with her wide leg trousers, so as Spring is now officially here, I got out my Spring/Summer weight wide legs and am giving them a spin today. These are not the same ones I posted over winter (I have summer weight and then a slightly heavier weight that works most seasons).

I also don't often wear white, particularly on my top half, as I am busty and short and I feel it makes me look bigger, but again today I am feeling a bit rebellious. So again inspired by Angie's love of white and her encouragement of me to wear more of it, I am giving it a whirl.

So the outfit consists of black wide leg trousers, white satin sleeveless blouse, white slightly fitted blazer, black and grey leopard wedges and statement necklace.

I bought this necklace about 3 years ago and have NEVER worn it. I didn't feel to pass it on as I kind of knew one day I would work out how best to wear it and I really felt the silver on the white works (please let me know if I am disallusioned here).

Im wearing this at work today and later in the day I am doing a little styling job for my friend with the accessories store so I wanted to look well put together.

Any thoughts/suggestions, as always very welcome... Im a sponge :)

Have a fantastic day.
xxx Deborah

Holy doodle Deb! You look SENSATIONAL!!!

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

Aw Shannon I could hug you! I have just now added details, so you will see that I am quite aware that this is not the BEST look for me in terms of figure flattery.

  • Carole replied 11 years ago

Love it all, Deb. The bag and necklace are perfect with your ensemble!

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

Psst Shannon if you are still there... I thrifted this blazer yesterday!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

I want you to know Deb that I SERIOUSLY mean it - not just saying it to be kind or sweet. You really look positively stunning in this ensemble. I know what you're saying in your details but trust me, it all works.

Still here - whoo hoo my fellow thriftier!

  • lynn replied 11 years ago

    You look great!

  • JulieJohn replied 11 years ago

Gorgeous. Angie will be so proud! I love the necklace, and I think this was the perfect time to bust it out. You look stunning!

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

    WHOA!!

K to the power of K!!!

That is gorgeous on you, Deb.

And the thing is...your "thrifting" is quite clearly an entirely different species than what I can do in Kingston. The quality of the jacket is so evident. And it makes such a difference. Beautiful.

So glad you saved that necklace; it was worth the wait to wear it. And that bag is sensational.

Suz, with all the talk re thrifting on the Forum recently, particularly in relation to what items we are culling from our closets, it has got me thinking about my thrifting. I usually have a bit of an agenda when I go in. I LOVE jackets and I like good jackets which sometimes are just out of my budget so I generally go straight to the jacket section. I rarely look at pants or skirts and I will have a skim through the dresses. I am always looking for something 'special', a treasure. Something that perhaps I couldn't normally afford, something unusual, something 'fab' and of course it has to work with my current pieces and the fit has to be good. It took a while but I have finally stopped picking up things just because they are ok and cheap.

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

(I am humbled to have inspired you, and proud too).

WOW!! You look killer STUNNING. Wear. More. White. Seriously.

    :)

Oh, my gosh. You are a knockout in this outfit. Figure flattery isn't even part of the equation. To me, this is just so you, and you wear it so well, that I wouldn't even notice enough to say "oh, that's not skinny-fying" or whatever figure flattery means in such a context. I would have thought you were 6 feet tall from this photo.

Save this outfit to remind yourself when you go astray (which you may not, that may just be me!).

Double wow - love these proportions on you.

  • JR replied 11 years ago

I never throw out accessories in good shape. You never know when the tides of fashion will shift or the right outfit comes around and that orphan is suddenly a queen.

As you have just proven so gloriously.

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

Angie, I am but a humble student with a awesome mentor... in fact many mentors (that's all you lovely YLF ladies).

Una I will save this outfit, and trust me I loose the plot/go astray more times than I care to confess to.

White. Black. Wide legs. Stunning necklace. A change in silhouette. Deborah, you took a chance and knocked it out of the park. Happy Spring to you!

  • Jaime replied 11 years ago

Absolutely gorgeous and very flattering if you ask me - your legs look very long. And great thrifted jacket!

  • merwoman replied 11 years ago

Simply stunning! So elegant - so chic. Love the dramatic flare added by the pants. The flare of the pants is echoed in your gorgeous jacket. And then there is the beautiful necklace - what a great statement piece. And finally, you knock it out of the park with that red bag!

  • pil replied 11 years ago

Could you wear this to your upcoming event, or does it have to be a dress? You really are beautiful in this.

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

pil, I wondered the same thing! I am a bit attached to the simplicity of a dress for the Fashion Parade, but I do have a second event which is a Make Over event being held in our Mall ( I am hosting this also) and this outfit might work for that one.

  • Krista replied 11 years ago

This is so chic, Deb. You look wonderful!

  • KathyL replied 11 years ago

You look amazing! Not sure what you mean about ignoring figure flattery because this is very flattering on you. I love the silver necklace. Very elegant with the white blouse.

  • Beth Ann replied 11 years ago

This is absolutely amazing -- so chic and, yes, flattering. You look very tall and the white lights up your face.

I'm still overwhelmed by "holy doodle, Deb." That one should go in a book somewhere -- perhaps your DH would find it useful (lol)!

  • Tanya replied 11 years ago

Woah. Amazing. My fave look i have seen on you yet. love.

  • anne replied 11 years ago

    It TOTALLY works

  • Ingunn replied 11 years ago

It's all been said by now, but I think you look stunning, too!

  • jayne replied 11 years ago

white works wonderfully for you. love that jacket, deb

  • jen replied 11 years ago

    'clapping hands' :)

  • Lyn D. replied 11 years ago

    You 'Nailed-it' Deb!
I too thought of the MC event- it must be the dressy-ness of the black pant/white jacket combination that screams 'I know what I am doing, I am in charge' etc. etc.
Do you mind telling the brand of the gorgeous new jacket?

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

Lyn, it looks like its been custom made/made to measure, maybe overseas! I thrifted it! It isn't lined but it's a really nice substantial fabric, beautifully made and the finish on the seams etc is perfect.

  • Lyn D. replied 11 years ago

Well, the fit is divine, and how unusual to find a perfect jacket in white second-hand!

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

Lyn I have a rule about thrifting white garments... Don't go there! Because used items in white are never really white, but this was in pristine condition calling my name...it was a great find:)

  • goldenpig replied 11 years ago

Stunning, just stunning! I am speechless.

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

GP if I can be a bit cheeky, to render a woman such as yourself speechless would be quite a feat. I take that as an incredible compliment:)

  • lyn67 replied 11 years ago

Oh, wow. OH, WOW!!! More whites for you, Deb! Splendid!

  • kimlee replied 11 years ago

Absolutely gorgeous. The white on white looks wonderful on you, the statement necklace is beautiful, and the overall look is just KILLER!
