WIW & Why I've Been So Quiet:)

Hi Fab Ones!

I have so been missing being part of the ongoing conversations here:(  I have been keeping up as much as possible on my phone (but I much prefer to participate from my lap top... much easier to comment in detail etc.) so while I am reading, I haven't been able to contribute all that much.

We have had an unexpected turn over of staff at the one of my jobs and as a result I have been doing extra hours.  It's all good and I am enjoying it but not much time for other things:)  We are also in our school holiday period and Master 12 has been off school since early December (goes back Feb 1) so juggling two jobs (and the extra hours) and time with him has been challenging. Then before Christmas I sustained a rotary cuff injury (shoulder) and of course put of going to the doctor thinking it was just a muscular thing and it would right itself!  Woke up two weeks ago in such pain I thought I was going to be ill... all sorted now tho and it is getting better.  So hopefully things will slow down again soon and I will settle back into a little more routine and be able to spend more time hanging out with you all.

Until then, a quick outfit pic.  Nothing special.  A 42 degree day today and so grateful I was in air conditioning:)  Just wanted something that skimmed my body and was easy to wear.  The dress is about 4 years old.  Some days I love it, some days I don't :)  It was perfect for today.

I haven't really had time to consider my style goals for 2016 but I think one of them might be incorporating a little colour into my wardrobe via accessories.   The necklace is new and I thought the cobalt at the neckline of the dress was a nice way to give new life to the dress... what do you think?

Thanks for reading, and looking
xxx Deborah

Oh, no! Sorry to hear about your shoulder injury. That definitely must have been painful. Also don't your bosses realise time on YLF should be written into all contracts ;)

Your 'keeping cool' dress (42 degrees!!?!) looks great with the blue necklace. In a way it almost looks like it's part of the dress...that and your fab sandals create a chic stylish look from a simple dress shape. YLF!

  • Deborah replied 8 years ago

Lol Diane you are brilliant!  Of course YLF time needs to be part of my employment contract :)  I will see what I can negotiate:)

  • approprio replied 8 years ago

Sensational Deborah! Love the necklace and sandals - they really elevate the simple dress.

Good to see you back. Take care of that shoulder!

  • Summer replied 8 years ago

The shoulder injury sounds nasty, Deborah.  I hope it is not restricting you too much.

Your dress looks the perfect option for such extreme heat.  I love the touch of cobalt in your necklace.

  • viva replied 8 years ago

So sorry to hear about your shoulder, and I am commiserating re: work overload. Best wishes with all of it.

I absolutely love the cobalt at the neck, and the shape of the piece looks quite dramatic and modern. Such a good choice for you! I love the idea of adding color through accessories -- it would really change up your wardrobe but not in a permanent way.

You look fab for a hot day, Deb. I love the necklace too.

Sorry to hear about your shoulder injury. Hope it heals real soon. If you're enjoying the extra hours at work and still managing to spend sometime with your son, you're doing a fabulous job!

We miss you around here too....and it's so good to see your WIW. You have a rocking sense of style, Deb.....I think you're on the right track for 2016!

Your dress looks perfect for such a hot day.  I can not imagine what 42 C would feel like.  The cobalt looks lovely with the black.  Love the sandals.

So sorry to hear of such pain, glad that is getting better. Love this outfit and the goal for adding color through accessories is brilliant!

  • Cococat replied 8 years ago

Nice to see you. I've missed you! :)

I'm sorry to hear about your shoulder problem. I can relate, I had frozen shoulders both sides and it was so painful.

Your dress looks fab. I love the necklace and sandals with it.

    I don't think I've ever experienced 42 degrees!

  • Helen11 replied 8 years ago

Nice to see you : ) I agree that your dress is perfect for that ridiculous heat. The necklace is very interesting, it really looks like the neckline of the dress.
Hope your shoulder is better soon, and the work settles down. Looking forward to seeing your next WIW, too.

Deborah - so sorry to hear about the shoulder injury and very glad to hear that you are on the mend.  Outift looks wonderful and very cool.  Feel better and hope things quiet down to a easier level!!  Hugs!

I think you look super. I really enjoy seeing how you vary your outfits but stay in your signature look. And I love your hair as always. I injured(inflamed, not a tear, fortunately) my rotator cuff last summer and it took a long time to get over but doctors say "40 and up, rotator cuff" so I feel like I'm in good company. Apparently women are particularly prone to injuries because we tend to over-reach for things. Hope you heal quickly!

  • Helena replied 8 years ago

YLF Deborah ... The cobalt necklace looks great with the dress. So sorry about your injury; hope recovery is speedy and complete!! Xx

  • lyn67 replied 8 years ago

42 degrees Celsius???and not naked? OMG I commiserate, but you look gorgeous in that dress! Lace up sandals and multi strand cobalt necklace are some really great accessories!
Hope your shoulder is better now, take care!:-)

That's a fabulous necklace!  I think adding color via accessories is a smart idea.  I hope your shoulder continues to improve.  I had to use an online unit convertor, but wow, 42 C is hot!

  • Angie replied 8 years ago

LOVE the blue necklace with the outfit, Debs. Killer look.

Staff turnover can be very stressful. Hang in there and I hope things slow down soon.

  • donnat replied 8 years ago

Deb, good to see you. Firstly I love love love that blue necklace with the black. It is gorgeous!
I hope you are really looking after that rotator cuff injury. I had one a few years back and still have to be very careful. Omg! 42 DEGREES! Ican't even imagine it.

  • rute replied 8 years ago

    wow! You are SO stylish!
I've been away also, I've been working a lot too.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 8 years ago

I hope your shoulder is healing well and that the staff issues even out soon so you can get back to your regular hours (and regular YLF programming)!
That dress is stunning with the blue necklace and lace-up sandals. It's good to hang on to a piece that can be such a chameleon.

  • Sal replied 8 years ago

You look, terrific here- great look for a sweltering day! I think a little colour in accessories can work brilliantly.

Hope the shoulder improves soon - I have shoulder issues and they are very annoying. I invest/treat myself with a massage every six weeks and this keeps them mobile.

I have also been a little absent recently, reading more than commenting- I am never as pleased with my comments on a phone because I can easily make silly typos.

    Take care!

  • rachylou replied 8 years ago

Stunning necklace. The outfit is incredible. Sorry about the injury! No fun!

  • shedev replied 8 years ago

I really like the necklace. I'm sending you healing vibes for your shoulder.

  • Lyn D. replied 8 years ago

That shoulder must be uncomfortable for you at your retail job.
    I have missed you too!
Today is such a nice relief from the heat, I hope you feel 100% soon.

  • Brooklyn replied 8 years ago

Love the necklace with the dress. It's an interesting change for you. Can't wait to see more - we've missed you!
Take care of your shoulder. I had a rotator cuff injury once too and it took a long time to heal. Be really careful about lifting things above your shoulder (eg Lifting things into and out of an overhead kitchen cupboard) because it is easily exacerbated.

  • shiny replied 8 years ago

YLF despite the injury and job stress! Take care of yourself!

I just bought a dress at TJMaxx that made me think of you... "very ala Deborah" I was thinking... maybe you caught my wavelength and I conjured you up? :-)

  • Caro in Oz replied 8 years ago

    Painful - ugh!!
    Fab necklace :)

  • Deborah replied 8 years ago

Thanks so much for you warm thoughts:)  Looks like I am going to have to be very careful with my shoulder.  Doc did say 'months'.  May have to limit my housework lol:)

And if you can believe it, it's 20 degrees today.. Im home from the store and wearing skinny jeans, sneaks and a jumper!!

  • Elizabeth P replied 8 years ago

Sorry to hear about your shoulder Deborah.  That must be so annoying, not to mention painful.  I hope it recovers quickly.

But your outfit... wowzers!!  That necklace is amazing with that dress, you look cool and comfortable, and so pulled together.  Not an easy feat in 42 degrees, I'm sure!
