WIW : Vintage... my way :)

Hi Fab Ones,

Still on holidays. Master 10 has a friend over and I am hoping to do some admin on my community project and then some housework:( Weather has cooled to about 30.

I love vintage but it's not my 'aesthetic' but when I saw this skirt for only a couple of dollars I figured I had nothing to loose. Given it falls straight and it's blue, I felt reasonably confident I could work this into my style.

So did I do ok? This is just a casual running around type outfit.

Top : Rockmans
Skirt : Pop Up Op Shop (raising funds for children's cancers)
Patent Flip Flops : Myer
Accessories : Silver rings, silver studs earring & watch

I have been keeping my jewellery really simple lately and after having had to have my wedding ring cut off and my engagement ring needing resizing, I have been enjoying wearing two silver wedding rings together. Refreshingly simple! But Im starting to miss my engagement ring so need to get it done soon:)

So frumptastic or did I make it 'me'? Thanks for your thoughts.

Have a great day
xxx Deborah

Please, you couldn't be frumpy on a bet. Great colors!

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

IK that is an awfully nice thing to say but trust me their are photos that indicate otherwise lol x

  • Sarah A replied 10 years ago

Paired with that top and shoes? Never frumpy for a second!

  • Runcarla replied 10 years ago

If you only add one colour to your B&W collection, cobalt is it! Even as a skirt, it brings out the colour of your eyes. Startling! Love your hair, BTW.

I think you did more than ok – what a fantastic find – I love the straight line of the skirt with the slight pleating, great colors all together, and no frumpiness in sight. Does the skirt have darker panels on the side or is it the lighting?

    I like it!

  • TraceyLiz65 replied 10 years ago

Love it, great addition to your wardrobe!

  • Aubergine replied 10 years ago

Not frumpy at all! Love the cobalt and the pleating, and the whole outfit looks so clean together.

  • Susie replied 10 years ago

Love the color combo and the skirt looks great on you with no frump in sight!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Cobalt is gorgeous and especially so with the simple silver accents. Love the pleating in the skirt -- makes for a nice change.

  • Grey Rainbow replied 10 years ago

Sleek, modern, gorgeous. You have a great touch with accessories too!

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

Love! The skirt does not read vintage at all, it is a stunning color and I love the pleats. Your hair is fantastic too!

  • deb replied 10 years ago

    Love the color.

  • cuffcat replied 10 years ago

I think you look great! No frumpiness at all. Love the cobalt blue skirt. Your manicure is so pretty!

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Thanks ladies. It's a fun skirt to have in my wardrobe:)

Shevia, I am finding styling my shorter hair a little more difficult that I expected. How did you find that when you went short? I think I need a different / smaller brush and I really need to keep it well conditioned.

I love cobalt on you and it works so well with the black and white you gravitate towards that it is a perfect fit.  Nothing frumpy at all in that outfit.

  • Jacky replied 10 years ago

This outfit is fantastic - I think it looks very you and not frumpy at all!

So sorry to hear about your wedding ring! I love the simple rings that you're wearing here though.

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Deborah, no way could you look frumpy! The cobalt skirt is very fab on you. As Carla said, the color brings out your blue eyes.

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

You know how I feel about cobalt!  The pleats add movement and texture, but they are sharp and straight, which is quite modern.  Love it!

  • Kiwibird replied 10 years ago

Love it Deborah - not frumpy at all!!  The colour is gorgeous and it fits your style so well!

  • Lucy replied 10 years ago

I think it is a perfect skirt, you look fantastic!

When my hair was pixie short, I did find the upkeep was higher, in terms of daily styling (seems ironic really!), and also I needed to get it cut every 5 weeks. When I had a newborn, this was impossible! So I grew it out. But I really adore your hair, and it had me thinking maybe it is time to go for the chop again....

  • annaj replied 10 years ago

I love the skirt - that blue is certainly your colour!

I find my hair easier to do when its short, but I HAVE to do it. When it's longer, I can get away with doing less. I rarely use a brush (except perhaps a quick flick through towel dried hair). My styling is all with my fingers! If you find you need a brush, you might need a few more layers cut in so that the style "just is" rather than it needing to be "done". Gets tricky though, because when you want to keep a bit of length, the longer bits sometimes do require a little bit more work :)

I gave this some careful consideration Deborah because I thought perhaps you could see a frump element. However no matter how hard I peer I cant find anything negative, in fact I love the colour on you, I am a big sucker for knife pleats, you look really cool (both meanings) so all in all -yay!

  • Lantana replied 10 years ago

And what a coincidence this pop up op shop coming on the heels of Inge's thread.

  • Debra replied 10 years ago

Great outfit, simple, sleek and you :)

  • replied 10 years ago

I see no frump Deb, Just a modern fresh look. I think you'll get a lot of bang for your buck with that skirt.

  • lyn67 replied 10 years ago

Cobalt is your color, we know it, Deb! Knife pleated skirt are not really my thing butz am also loving this particular pleated skirt for you as it is straight and worn in your very edgy way. Is it a knitted piece? Love how pleats are streching out for plain fabric on hips, and not causing bulk where nobody wants and consider can be a good alternative to tube skirts! Did I say I love your short do!(xagain:-))

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

No frump in sight! That cobalt color looks fantastic on you.

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

No frump here, gorgeous colors.  I have cobalt jeans and my favorite pairings are with all black, or all white.  I like the high contrast look.

  • Greyscale replied 10 years ago

The color of that skirt is great, and I really like the double ring look.

  • El Cee replied 10 years ago

Does not look at all frumpy… in fact the skirt looks quite modern and chic. (Would never have guessed it was vintage.) The color is gorgeous and looks fabulous paired with black. Love the length as well. Very very nice!!!

  • Catnip replied 10 years ago

This is a gorgeous, non-frumpy look.  I love cobalt on you and I love the silver rings.  The proportions are just right.

  • Caro in Oz replied 10 years ago

I like it too. I have an urge to make the top asymmetrical but maybe that's my RATE-ness coming out :)

  • bj1111 replied 10 years ago

you wear cobalt really well.  i do love you hair shorter in the back with the long sideswept bang.  really suits your face shape.

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Caro good thought. I have a new asymmetric black top that might work really well with this skirt.

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

Gorgeous. And how fun to see you in a cobalt vintage skirt. I love this outfit, Debs.

  • MuseumGal replied 10 years ago
