WIW: Trusty Black & White

Hi Ladies,

Relating very much to Shannon's recent post.

http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....eal-outfit

But I find I learn so much by posting and reading your comments.

If I had to choose one major influence YLF has had on my wardrobe it would the addition of color to a very black heavy closet:)

Thing is, now when I wear black and white I often feel a little dissatisfied and like something is missing:(. But I guess I will work thru this:)

So what I'm leading to is that I have mixed feelings about this outfit. It's simple and clean lines which I like, but I feel it's lacks interest. It's an office day with no meetings so it's appropriate but not "exciting".

Thanks for "listening" and looking.

xxx Deborah

You are the queen of classic and sophisticated. I love you in black and white and the pop of red colour on your lips is all you need. Gorgeous!

You may think it's not exciting Deborah, but this is such a sophisticated outfit in its simplicity. It has beautiful lines, textures and visual interest. I think you look lovely.

I agree, this outfit stands on it's own with the dramatic lines. Elegant!

OMG I LOVE this. The lines and fit make it uber-sophisticated and hard to pull off right. You could look sloppy casual in a look like this (as I would) or you can look like a Nordstrom model, like you do!

Such a chic outfit Deborah! Love everything about it.

This is stunning and chic to my eyes. You have such a good style instinct that you make what might seem standard really exemplary.

I agree with everyone else - you are stunning as always. The white watch, the trim around the shoes - these small details add just enough of the unexpected to keep this outfit a bit extra-ordinary. Don't doubt yourself.

I have to agree with the others. The vertical lines of the pieces with the horizontal stripes adds visual interest and you do look great in black and white so why not take advantage of it.

You look great! I love the stripes and drapey cardigan.

Deborah, you seem to wear colour so well that I didn't realise that is a little experimental for you! I am thinking of your recent post with the red pant and the red scarf I admired a couple of weeks ago.
As the others said, you look Fab today in your FBO !
Why don't you just wear the bright colours when you feel like it? Know that just because todays outfit might be ordinary to you, everyone you meet are admiring your style!

How can this outfit be anything but a 10!

  • christieanne replied 11 years ago

Color is great and we need it in our lives but as someone also trying to reform from all black and gray and white wardrobe, this is great. Black and white have their moments too! Love the lines and that outfit looks cozy and chic.

    Simply WOW and PERFECT.!!!!

I think maybe I need to spend some time doing my rubrik! It may help me stay on track. Thanks for your encouragement everyone. I think sometimes I 'try to hard' rather than let an outfit 'come together'. For me I think simple is best and I need to accept that :)

Deborah, you always look fantastic in black and white. I'm not seeing anything missing here. If you really want some color you could add a red or bright mustard tote bag, but honestly you look great just as you are!

  • cobaltblue replied 11 years ago

I love you in color, but this outfit may be my favorite I've seen on you!

Deborah, I wonder if you are one of Carol Tuttle's Type 4 women - the still, dramatic type? If so, your high contrast black and white is the PERFECT look for you (as it certainly seems to be!) And she would say don't fight who are are. Go with it!

Well I think it's all been said but your look seems to be lassic & sophisticted and the shapes & propirtions you choose are what give your outfits interest.

  • Joy replied 11 years ago

    This looks perfect...elegant and interesting.

I see nothing missing from this fabulous look! Do you wear necklaces inside your cowl necks at all? I could totally see a neon necklace peeking out from in there :)

  • Meredith1953 replied 11 years ago

Quiet elegance! It is lovely and restful and shows off beautiful you!
