WIW : Trendy?

Hi Fabbers,

Despite being Autumn, we are still experiencing summer temps:). I don't view this as my norm and I think it reads a bit more trendy than my usual outfits, but I feel quite good in it and it's perfect for Saturday morning errands. And it still has components that make me feel like me...black and white, structure (pants), drape (sweater).

The crop pants were given to me (tags still on) by a girlfriend who had never worn them and the sweater is a couple of sizes too big but I think it's ok. First time wearing my white leather belt, and as the pants are a lower rise for me, they do make it easier to semi or faux tuck:)

What say you, ok?

Thanks
xxxDeborah

I actually see this as reading more classic than your usual outfits, nonetheless it looks great for a casual running around morning.

    You look great in this!

I love this look!  I especially like the bag and the sandals.  It's hard to imagine that autumn is coming.

  • Adelfa replied 10 years ago

I love the pants. They're like the cropped bfs Angie was talking about. It's a little hard to see the top because it's black and because of the bag.

I agree with Sarah A, this is very classic cool to my eye.

  • JAileen replied 10 years ago

I love this classic look, too, especially the sandals and bag. You look fab!

May I shout? I LOVE this. The white pants give a whole new dimension to the interesting silhouettes you wear. While I'd agree that the look is bordering classic, I find that the bag alone actually keeps things very un-classic.

Excellent! Thanks ladies. I do prefer the concept of classic to trendy...for me. Happy to go with classic. Perhaps my perception of trendy is a bit off:)

It's lovely, especially because of the sandals.  For some reason they add something extra special to the look.

The lower rise, drapey semi-tuck do read more trendy, it's true, but the elements are so basic that it's not screamingly trendy at all.

Fab outfit Deborah. How did you have the energy to do errands this morning. I am feeling very tired today.

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

    Thanks Jenava:)

Carolbee, I was in bed at 8.30 last night and slept in till about 9.30am. I was exhausted lol. Almost ready for a nana nap now :)

This looks FAB Deborah- I want your stylish and generous BFFs :)
PPL I would say, and the o'sized sweater with the belt gives a very flattering silhouette.

    Looks good, Deborah!

Yes, I was wondering what you felt was "trendy." I guess the draped (fluid) semi-tucked sweater could be seen that way, although they don't seem especially "fad-like" at all. And in particular, since drape is one of your signatures, they do not look trendy on you. Modern, would be more my take -- and that is a huge part of your style. I think where modern and avant-garde intersect is a very interesting and fruitful place.

I really love this on you, Deborah. It reads as modern and fresh to me and I see the black and white as both classic AND trendy.

  • Janet replied 10 years ago

I see it more as modern than trendy, and very you! This is a length of cropped pant I can appreciate. :-)

  • gryffin replied 10 years ago

Deborah - this looks so great on you!! I know it's a little different than your usual silhouette but it looks marvelous!  But the b/w, softness juxtaposed with structure are still very you!!  I like it very, very much!!

Killer to the power of Killer

    Wear more white. xo

This is so chic. I think you can safely remove those tags. I love this outfit. I think the semi tuck is exactly what this combo needed. The proportions are PERFECT.

  • LoriFLA replied 10 years ago

More than ok! You look très chic and your hair is so stylish.  Super stylish look overall.

  • Marley replied 10 years ago

This is beautiful on you - and I love your hair!  I see this is a modern classic outfit, rather than trendy - what is it about it that feels trendy to you?  Also, a semi/faux tuck works perfectly with the rise of the pants - and they're WHITE!!!!! -- alright!

  • ironkurtin replied 10 years ago

Deb, I swear you can do no wrong.

  • Debra replied 10 years ago

You look great. I love how you look cool but casual with a few basic pieces.

I love the addition of crisp, white to keep this outfit fresh!

You look great!  Love the b/w combo, and the oversized fit is perfect!  I especially like the look of the crossbody handbag with the outfit.

  • Greyscale replied 10 years ago

Really great classic simplicity. The red lipstick is perfect.

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

Whatever you call it, it is perfect. As a matter of fact enjoy it while you can because I am coming to steal it!

  • amiable replied 10 years ago

Wow - this is one of my favorites of yours!  I'm marking it to copy when our weather is warm enough.

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

Fresh, crisp crops read classic to me.  The overall effect is lovely and very "you."
