WIW : To Work

Hi Ladies,

I am having lot of fun at the moment remixing and putting together professional outfits for my new job, and the best bit is I am essentially shopping my closet.  No new clothes required.

Today I wore tapered draped pants.  These are new but are a replacement for an older pair.  The fabric of these is much more luxurious and they feel so nice to wear.  Topped the pants with a short, layered sleeveless top (I have this in black also) and a soft jersey jacket.  I like the look of a lady like point toe with these pants so wore my Wittner pumps again today.  I forgot to get a photo but carried my snow leopard handbag.

I love this sort of work outfit.  To my eye it looks elegant and professional but it feels oh so comfortable and not restricted.  One of my colleagues just loved my shoes:)

What do you think?  Improvements?  I have been wearing quite long tops for some time and I found the length of this top quite refreshing.

Thanks for looking, as always I appreciate your thoughts.

xxx Deborah

Yes, the shorter top makes a  nice change after seeing you in longer ones of late and suits you really well, but I think you wear long and short equally well. I love the proportions of the top and jacket together. The pointy pumps are fab too. BTW what a cool necklace.

    What a fabulous outfit!

Fabulous as ever. Love those Wittner pumps. Is that a new necklace?

You always look amazing.  Gorgeous pumps.  Is that Lincoln Park after Midnight on your nails?  I love that colour.

Approprio, thanks! The necklace is few years old. I go on and off it and haven't worn it for ages.

Style Fan, I do wear Lincoln Park After Midnight but this one is Punk Rock by Rimmel's Salon Pro range. It's a very dark grey.

    Diane and Joyce, thank you;)

Wow, love those pumps, they are an edgy bit! The shorter top works great as it is loose and fluid! YLF, Debs!:-)

Totally fabulous. Love the slouchy pants and shorter length tops. Shoes look wonderful with this outfit !

That looks as comfy as sweats, and depending on the shoes, you can take it casual or quite dressy. The dream!
I think I may be slowly building a couple of outfits like this. One casual and cropped, one longer.
May I ask what type of fabric you prefer in most of your clothes?

Olive green, I have a real love for good quality soft jersey fabrics;). I also like to wear a nice ponte. Generally I prefer stretch or knit fabrics over wovens.

Lovely outfit and I am admiring your shoes too!

Perfection! You are totally 'at one' with your style!

Thank you, Deborah. It occurred to me this morning that my husband is entered into a couple of art exhibits this summer and I need to show up representing arty and cool. Not my usual, but this outfit and the jacket and midi skirt would nail it. The ponte a good idea as it would not cling...
Another point, sorry, picking your brain here, do you size up a bit? Help with the drape and comfort?

I love it!  The floaty white top and the black drapey jacket look great together.  I love your pumps too - the heels make them look a little different from the usual.

  • Melissa replied 8 years ago

Yep, you look elegant and classy. I am sometimes petite(5'4"). Until I saw your two recent photo-filled posts I never imagined that petites could wear the drapey clothing. You look really smart. Thank you for sharing!

Olive green, I do sometimes size up but not always. I am an Australian size 10 but sometimes wear a 12. I will generally take both sizes to the dressing room. I recently bought a poncho. I tried the S/M but didn't like the lack of coverage and flow so bought the M/L which was longer and more dramatic looking.

Thank you, Deborah, I think we are pretty much the same size and both short, so am happy to receive any notes on this style that help with the proportions and fit.
Appreciate it. I do hope imitation here is perceived as sincere flattery!

I'm liking this change of silhouette. The shorter toppers give the illusion of longer legs. Well put together Deborah.... lovely colours, pieces and accessories.

    Gorgeous, as always!

Fabulous outfit. You are looking so incredibly elegant at your new job and I love how you are putting these versatile pieces to work (literally, ha ha) in a new way.
