WIW to the Theatre

Hi Ladies,

This gorgeous coat has been hanging in my wardrobe for a little while, just waiting for the right occasion.  Friday night I went to see an amateur production of The Phantom of the Opera (the only one to be done in the Southern Hemisphere by a Youth Theatre Group - all secondary school students) at our beautiful old theatre in town and the coat was just the right amount of statement.

It's a wool blend, hand made by REW in the UK.  It's a duster but it's an oversized design so I crossed the front over and secured it with a cinch clip and wore it closed all night.  REW also make the coolest scarves that fasten with a button so they stay in place (Pic 2)  which I wore to dress up a very simple black jersey poncho type top the other week.

Hope everyone is well. It's cold here as we move through the last weeks of winter, so staying rugged up and the heater is getting a good work out lol.

xxx Deborah

Gorgeous coat and clever idea for a scarf. It is wonderful to " see" you again. Phantom seems like a difficult show for a youth theatre to do, especially the scenery. Kudos to them.

Thanks Joy and good to see you.  Yes it's a big show and apparently the licence to perform it has never been granted to an amateur group yet alone a student theatre.  Andrew Lloyd Weber sent a letter to the group wishing them all the best and I think they will be sending him a video of the performance.  The group is run out of our church and the did an amazing job.  I am not a lover of musical theatre but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Your outfits are stunning, as usual, Deborah. That coat is so fun and dramatic, and you wear it beautifully. It's quite a tribute to the youth theater group that they alone, among amateur groups, gained approval to do the show! Glad to hear you enjoyed it.

    I agree, stunning.

Omg. That coat is AMAZING. However did you come across it?!!

These are both great looks Deborah - I especially love the second one  the drape and scarf are gorgeous.

I went to a high school production of Dracula in the weekend which was fabulous too- I struggled once or twice to follow the story but worked it out in the end:)

Gorgeous outfits Deborah.  I love the poncho with the scarf.  Stunning.  How wonderful for the theatre group to get permission to perform the play!

I always love your style, winter is such a great season for wearing layers. You look stylish and warm.

Wow Deborah!!  The coat is amazing, lIke old style movie star dramatic and how clever to clasp it.  Looks fabulous.  I love the second outfit.  That is so smart to put a button on the scarf, I hate to use a pin because it leaves marks or can snag them.  It's a great piece and is fantastic without the outfit.  Just wonderful and I love how the scarf plays off your hair, it's the perfect piece!!

Thanks Firecracker, it was great an accomplishment in itself to get the rights to perform it.  My husband and son were on the camera crew who filmed each performance, they had a great time.

    Sterling, thank you xx

Rachylou, I discovered the label on through Instagram!  It's a great resource for fashion.

Sal, thank you, and I have the same problem sometimes in that the storyline can be hard to follow.  I think I got it lol

Ledonna, thank you xx My wardrobe is very much a happy place for me.

Stylefan, thank you, I just love the scarf :)

Bijou, thank you, I do love winter and the opportunities it brings for layering:)

Gryffin, thank you!  The coat is just so lovely and the scarf is quite a statement piece itself which works so well with my monochrome wardrobe.

RobinF you are too nice.  I love being thought of as looking sophisticated, its a lovely compliment.

    Muffin, thank you.

    Mirjana, thank you so much.

Lyn67 so good to see you too!  I wore a slim fitting very simple black jersey dress under the coat.

Karen13 thank you:)  I do like a bit of drama (but only in my wardrobe) xx

I love the look of both outfits. I had a good browse through the REW web site. Their scarfs look interesting. I really like the poncho in 2.

  • Dianna replied 6 years ago

Both outfits are stylish and very interesting.

The coat and scarf are absolutely stunning! You look great in patterns and that bold check is super gorgeous on you.

I love musical theater and Phantom is one of my favorites. How cool that Andrew Lloyd Weber sent them a letter.
