WIW : The Chunky Scarf

Well I don't often get the chance to link to a blog post:). But I recalled Angie had discussed the the big scarf sometime ago.

Friday is my day off and I had a meeting with the GM and another Board Member of the community radio station I serve on. It's a very cold day here and a coat would have been a good idea but as I was mostly indoors and traveling by car I decided the BIG scarf would suffice ;).

Quite a typical outfit for me on a day like to day. Oversized sweater with zip back layered over a long sleeve tee, jersey pull on skirt, ribbed cotton tights with a cool detail down the side (which you can't see) and black boots AND the chunky scarf.

The sweater is seriously oversized! The sales assistant wanted me to buy a smaller one but she wasn't getting how I wanted to wear it. I didn't like the fit on the catalogue model. It is longer at the back and from the back you can barely see the skirt. It seems to work well with a skirt but not so well with pants..hmmm.

I bought the scarf recently because I had decided I needed seriously chunky and I wanted grey.

Is it too much?? It did keep me warm and when it started raining I was able to pull a section up over my head to keep my hair from the rain:)

And in #1 I introduce you to my DH AKA the photo bomber! He never tires of doing this.

Thanks for looking...it's almost the weekend.

xxxDeborah

Love your photo bomber!   I love the oversized fit!  With grey being a big color trend for Fall, I think this scarf is a great addition and love the contrast with  all the black.... So, good to see winter wear while we are having Summer and I am getting bored with summer clothing...

Nice, nice, nice!  I especially appreciate the scarf, boots, and the scale of the sweater.  I'd watch out for that guy in the corner, though.

I clicked on this because I just knew you would have an awesome scarf.  I dub you queen chunky scarf!  Love it.  I can't believe DH is a photo bomber, this is the first time I've seen him in action!  Maybe threaten to turn the camera on him next time for a DH WIW!

I don't find this too chunky at all Deborah- and how practical to be able to turn it into a warm hat in this cold :)

I worried about the Metalicus one being too chunky too- but wished I was wearing it today when I walked back home from the Salvos.

Love your outfit underneath by the way, and how our families don't bat an eyelid about our photo-antics for the Forum :) :)

Great outfit! I think that the scarf's horizontal lines create some movement, which prevents the scarf from looking overly bulky.

The scarf is perfect...I love the fit of the sweater...All in all you have a keeper outfit...

The chunky scarf looks all warm and cozy. I love the whole outfit. I think the sweater works well with your style.

Looks great! I like the oversized fit of the sweater and scarf looks terrific too!

I didn't know cozy could be so edgy! Love it!

I do love myself a big, chunky scarf, so not too big at all to my eye, Deborah;-)
I think it looks absolutely splendid, and super cosy. The sweater looks excellent too (maybe it can be a "skirts only" pullover?).

Wonderful! You look fab as always in oversize drape, and the scarf is dramatic yet approachable. Your boots are gorgeous too! The whole works so well and I'll definitely copy you (again). Thanks!

For me (5'5") I'd wear heeled booties if I went with pants instead of a skirt. That adjusts the proportions for my eye, when I have a lot of volume on top in heavier knits.

I am always happy to see a post from you, love your style! I think the sweater is amazing and the scarf really finishes the look.

I think this is great, of course :).  You are such a Master of Layering.

This look (minus the big scarf, which I can't manage to accomplish) is a winter fave for me!  DH is too funny.

I love the way the light grey lightens your all black outfit. To my eye, that's very flattering.

As for whether the BIG scarf is too much - that depends on you. It's a dramatic look - a great look. Will it be odd if you keep it on indoors? I don't know how that flies in Oz. Here, you would not wear it at home or to someone's home. But you would keep it one while out and about in shops.

I love the whole look, and especially the scarf. The cut of that sweater is really cool - and not too oversized at all. Great outfit for being out and about.

    Cozy!

I'm sitting here in the middle of summer, in the middle of the office, wearing a such a giant chunky scarf. Lolol.

But look - for once, I'm not wearing my puffer.

Love this look Deborah! FUN sweater and FUN scarf. I think the long sweater is made to wear with that skirt, the proportions are super and the layering is arty and wonderful. Might also be fun over some slouchy trousers, versus the more obvious option of skinnies. Totally dig the big scarf, both in how it lightens up the look and for its chunky and dramatic flavor. I want one :D

Love this look and the scarf is fabulous. :)

Well I love it Deborah.  I don't think it's too much.  Love the sweater and skirt combo with the boots.  Snug, elegant, warm...perfect!!

You add such interest with texture and layers that I had to take a second look to confirm it was all blacks.  I was also reminded of mo's thread about the red lip and see you do it very well.  I think the red works especially well with the all neutral outfit.

Fantastic! Nothing better than a chunky scarf for the cold! I personally can't wear them as my neck is a bit short and I feel like I'm choking. But you wear it with panache.

And I have to ask - what is your lipstick? You know I love a bold red lip and I adore this color.
