WIW : Summer's Last Hurrah

Hi Ladies,

Had some good news today.  My referees have received calls from my prospective new employer, meaning that at the very least I have made the short list!  Doing my best not to get ahead of myself and trusting for a positive outcome.

Despite being Autumn, Summer is having it's last hurrah.  Hot and windy today [wonderful allergy/hay fever weather:)] so an opportunity for what might be the last outing for this dress until next Spring/Summer.

The dress is a very nice weight and the fabric gathers into three soft pleats under the left arm creating a lovely subtle drape to one side and a gentle asymmetric hemline.  It's also a very versatile dress.  I have worn this to work, to a funeral and could easily dress it 'up' for an evening.

The dress creates a nice long line and I opted for my neutral sandals today to continue the leg line, hopefully creating a nice long look in general.

Thanks for looking and your thoughts suggestions much valued.

xxx Deborah

Deborah, I'm not sure I've seen you wear this almost A-line silhouette before, with the wider hemline. I think you look WONDERFUL in it, and as you say, it would be easy to dress up/dress down - truly a versatile item.

(I've been hectically busy lately and hardly on the forum, so hadn't seen your interview updates until now. This sounds really positive :)  Keeping fingers crossed tightly for you.)

This is a lovely dress, Deborah, and I can see its potential for versatility.  I'm glad that you are getting at least one more wearing from it before Autumn sets in.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you regarding the new job.  Good luck.

Deborah - is there anything better than a great shift dress?  Really lovely with the details.  I have two in the wings if the weather here ever warms up!!  Perfect with the sandals.  Simple and elegant!!

This silhouette looks wonderful on you! I really like this necklace with the dress, too.

    Sounds encouraging about the job...

Yes, Elegant is the right word on this dress - and congrats on the good news!  You look completely lovely!

Oh, this look is one of my favorites on you. Have I seen it before? I really, really love it with the nude shoes. They elongate your legs gorgeously. So, so beautiful.

    Fingers crossed!!!

Great dress!  I love the nude shoes - perfect finishing touch.

Gorgeous long, lean line. Love the nude sandals, they do a bit of bookending as well as lengthening of the leg. Good luck on the job.... :)

What a great swing dress. I would love to have something similar for summer at work, but don't know how to style something like this while keeping footwear close-toed and close-heeled. Midis can look rough when paired with sensible work footwear.

I LOVE the addition of the light bookend footwear. Gorgeous, Debs.

You certainly did keep the long line going with those sandals, Deborah. What a beautiful look--stunning elegance! I love the simple lines of the necklace with the dress, too. Fingers crossed on the job prospect.

That necklace is a great detail on the dress (I presume it is a necklace?)
I will keep my fingers crossed for you to get the job.

That's great news on the job front. And as much as I am sad to see your warmer weather looks come to end, I know I will really enjoy your fall/winter creations! This is another fab look.

  • Lyn D. replied 9 years ago

My fingers are still crossed for you!

This silhouette fits you perfectly..Why don't you work on a style for fall that will include this dress?...wonderful look...
Great news re/the job...If you are meant to have it, it's decided...if you are not supposed to have it, this, too, is decided...So you don't need to fret...it's already decided...smile..
