WIW Suited Up

Happy Monday!

On Shop Your Closet (SYC) and trying to make the most of what is already in my closet:)

Brown is not my favorite color, but is nice every now and again for a change. And I quite enjoy 'suiting up'. These peices don't belong together but the pants are pinstriped and have the darker brown running through the stripes so I hope I haven't commited a faux pas by the two pieces not matching properly.

Brown Jacket - MNG

Spotted Blouse - Cotton On

Bootcut Pants - Jaqui E

Yellow Loafers - Vintage

I have been struggling a little during SYC for inspiration, so how did I do today?

Thanks for looking. Any suggestions ect for improvement much appreciated as always.

xxx Deborah

The yellow loafers are absolutely brilliant with a deep plum (or is it brown?) trouser and the subtle patterned blouse. Just lovely as ever !

You look beautiful as always. The yellow shoes are awesome. I'm so glad you got them. I'd love to see you in some more color though.

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

LOVE!! This looks amazing with those yellow shoes. They are complete winners for you.

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Looking again...the jacket does not read 'brown' on my screen. I wish colour reproduction were more reliable. ARGH!!

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

Christieanne, thank you! We always seem to be on line at the same time:)

Rita, yes I agree. I felt the only thing missing was more color but I think that's down to me having added so much color to my closet and outfits over the past year that I now feel odd without a touch. Having said that I don't mind the simplicity of neutrals at times.

Thanks Suz, I LOVE these shoes! I would wear them with everything if I could lol.
The jacket is a very true chocolate brown, nice and dark and rich and I noticed that it really doesn't translate well on the screen.

This is very classy looking Deborah and I love the fun peek of yellow beneath your pants!

Deborah, lovely as always! I love a good suit look and you've pulled this together beautifully. The jacket and pants seem to coordinate quite well even if they aren't "meant" to go together. I mix and match jackets and pants/skirts frequently. It gives the polished silhouette of a suit but provides a bit more interest I think. I love those yellow loafers, what a fun pop of color. And you have the best accessories! Fab necklace.

It's still Sunday afternoon in Seattle but you look brilliant in this outfit! KILLER.

This looks very sophisticated to me, the not matching browns and is there a bit of black in there? I love it. This is the first time I've seen the vintage yellow loafers in action, and they look great! The curve of your hair is so beautiful Deborah, I wish I could get mine to do that! It must be super thick. :) Happy Monday and have a great week!

Lovely ensemble and the yellow shoes are fab!

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

    Thanks Shannon.

Christy thanks so much:) I adore your corporate looks and was thinking of you this morning when I put this together.

Angie! You made my day. Truth be told most of the time I just think "how would Angie wear this" :) You are my style icon:)

Claire those shoes were only $50.00 but I know already they are a great investment. And thank you for the comment re my hair. I am VERY particular about my hair and just last week I had a minor drama with a new hairdresser and my color... but it all worked out in the end.

    Jewell.. thank you:)

Girls you have certainly made me smile this morning:) I arrived at my office to find it had been broken into overnight so the day didn't start quite as I expected. All is good though, just some damage that is being repaired as I type and nothing was taken.

You did fabulously! You're gorgeous, as always. I love those yellow shoes with this outfit.

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

This looks so beautiful and elegant. If it's brown it's certainly a beautiful shade of brown.

  • Beth Ann replied 11 years ago

I really like the "tonal" match of the browns. The yellow touch in the shoes is masterful.

Hope the rest of your day went better.

  • Jaime replied 11 years ago

This is a beautiful, elegant and cool (not as in temperature) outfit. The shoes and necklace are the perfect touches.

  • ManidipaM replied 11 years ago

Very chic to combine browns, and then add the little pop of yellow! This is as dramatic as signature Deborah on your quieter days, no worries! What colour is the blouse, in case my monitor is misleading me? Black or navy?

And is that a pin you have on the jacket closure? Very nifty if so, or a *smart* jacket if part of it!

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

Sarah, thanks, the shoes do seem to be the stars here:)

Thanks Una, yes its a very dark chocolate brown.

Beth Ann I was hoping the tonal concept here would make the brown more interesting. Brown is a color I have had an aversion to for a long time.

M you are so astute! You don't miss a thing. The blouse is dark brown with lighter brown and cream tiny spots. And the button fell of my jacket and I have found one to replace it so i pinned a hand made (by me) button broach to continue a little yellow.
    I added a pic for you :)

  • Jonesy replied 11 years ago

You look fab! Love the yellow shoes! Sorry to hear that your office was broken into--sort of unnerving, I would think.

  • Makrame replied 11 years ago

Very nice look - the shapes of all three items are so beautiful and flowy, and the shoes and the pin add pizzazz. Great start to a work week (well, fashion-wise, at least; the break-in sounds unnerving, as Jonesy has said)!

  • Lyn D. replied 11 years ago

Deborah, I love the way your outfit doesn't look to 'Matchy-Matchy', and you look great in the brown too!
I have been surprised by some of the stuff at 'Cotton-on', as I hadn't even looked until my daughter started dragging me in with her! Goes to show it's always worth looking at stores aimed at 'younger ' women for something different.

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

Thanks Jonesy and Makrame, yes it's was unnerving and really disappointing. I work for an international aid/humanitarian agency and I can't help but expect people to be more respectful?!

Lyn, Angie says leave not retail stone unturned :) I am a little limited where I live so I tend to look everywhere. In the past year I have made purchases from Cotton On, Valley Girl and Coccolatte.. all aimed at the teen market. Once I would never have bothered but you never know what and where you will find something.

  • Debora replied 11 years ago

You look amazing in this outfit and I'm sending more love your way for the yellow shoes!
I'm so sorry to hear your office was broken into, but I'm glad to hear that nothing was taken.

Loving you in brown and those vintage loafers look great. And dang you make cheap stuff look expensive (talking about the Cotton On top). Lovely classy chic - as always.

  • CocoLion replied 11 years ago

You look impeccably elegant Deborah so I would say SYC is a success!

  • Kirti replied 11 years ago

I think you look fantastic :-)

  • lyn67 replied 11 years ago

Love the not matchy suit, with the feminine blouse and yellow shoes! Amazing how it change everything to fab( tmean the pops of yellow:-))

  • Meredith1953 replied 11 years ago

The outfit is lovely and those shoes just push it right over the top!

  • Vicki replied 11 years ago

Elegance in a suit and the yellow loafers are just the right and fun note! Post delayed due to some computer problems here at home.
