WIW : School Canteen Duty

Hi Ladies,

I did my first volunteer shift on school canteen today!  Of course the question of what to wear was on my mind first thing.  We were required to wear closed in shoes and no tank tops but otherwise it was up to us.

I decided I needed comfort, clothes that would wash easily and, well,  I still needed to dress like me.

So I wore (all jersey fabrics) cropped pants, cami top and square oversized top with my slip on sneaks.

Felt good and even felt put together well enough for a coffee out after my vounteer shift.

It's the usual all black everything, but thanks for taking a peek :)

xxx Deborah

It's a very relaxed and chic look, appropriate for the occasion, I bet you felt good in it!

Love your all black combo, so stylish. I was hot lunch volunteer at school too, this was my outfit. Also black and drapey!

Practical but still stylish! You always look amazing.
How did you find your first day of high school tuckshop duty (as we call it , much further north of you) ? I have heard it is big business at some big schools!

My school doesn't take volunteers, and the lunch ladies are not to be trifled with!

I think you look sleek and relaxed.  And black will hide most bits of food that are hurled 'bout the room.  (Seriously--the ease in this outfit, and the length of the pants is fab and fresh).

Perfectly you and perfectly adequate, too! Love the flat shoes to this!

Practical and elegant.  As always, you look wonderful.

I'm going to have to buy more black - it looks so great on you that I'm going to have to copy.

Like Beth Ann, our school doesn't take volunteers at lunch either... You look perfectly attired for your task Deb...true to your style and nicely pulled together.

    Perfect for the job!

I asked my 15yo son why I didn't get the call for chaperones for his field trip the other day, and he said, "I was supposed to tell you, but I didn't because you always say yes and then I'm that guy whose mom is on the field trip with him."

Ah well, I'm grateful to be the mom who is annoyingly always there than the one who isn't able to be, and someday maybe he'll see that too.  :)

Thanks ladies! We have two paid staff on canteen and then 2 or 3 volunteers each day. I was a bit concerned I might be more of a hindrance than a help!! But they said I could come back :).

Jenn, my son told me his friends thought it was really cool that I was helping lol
