WIW : Questionable Proportions... but I like them :)

Happy Sunday Fabbers,

I haven't posted an outfit for at least a week as I am getting used to my hair and it has been so hot that what I have been wearing at home in the heat has not been suitable for mass consumption ;)

I wore this to church today. I suspect this is one of those "sacrificing figure flattery" outfits but I really like the proportions and found it visually appealing. I do understand however, if you don't:)

Draped white bouse : Katies
Black tailored shorts : Mix
Sandal Booties : Novo
Accessorized with silver rings, necklace and earrings.

I toyed with the idea of wearing my open toe black booties with the blond wood wedge heel, but for some reason I felt drawn to these flat Novo taupe (Suz Im wearing taupe!!) sandal booties that I bought while in Melbourne over New Year.

The outfit is a little different for church and I did think the black booties took it a bit over the edge whereas the taupe footwear felt a little more subtle.

I had my hair cut shorter on Friday and went blonder! I am loving it. Still have moments where I look in the mirror and think "what I have I done" but mostly I am really pleased. And I received some lovely compliments about my hair at church this morning.

#3 is just a pic so you can see how short I have gone.

Love your feedback on the outfit. Do the proportions work to your eye. Maybe I am wearing rose coloured glasses.
xxx Deborah

ps excuse the lovely bags under my eyes, I am on holidays and am very naughty and stay up too late!!

You look fresh and crisp, I love it all on you.

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Ooooh! Worlds coming together here, Debs....I have ordered an avant-garde black Angie pic (to be shown when I pick it up at the border...) and YOU have become my near hair twin and taupe footwear buddy!  I knew we were secret style sisters.....

In all seriousness, I really like the proportions here and love the outfit, and I think it works well with taupe booties simply because the black would have been more "stumpifying" -- not that you need to worry about that, but since I worry about it so much, I need to say it, LOL.

Your hair looks lovely! It is fabulous especially for summer's heat. I also go a little shorter in summer, as a rule.

I love this outfit. I think you nailed the proportions with drapey top, length of shorts, and really cool sandals. I need a pair just like those! Your haircut and color is so flattering on you apart from the outfit, and suits this styling wonderfully. Proportions head to toe are elegant and subtlety unusual. You look stunning!

    Love this outfit!

  • amiable replied 10 years ago

    Looks completely beautiful!

YLF! I love these avant garde ensembles on you so much. You just rock them and make them sing. You look cool and fresh.

  • MuseumGal replied 10 years ago

This is amazing.  Your new hair, the outfit, all of it.

  • Elizabeth P replied 10 years ago

Cool and fresh, perfect for the heat. I think the taupe sandals help keep the look light and summery.

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

Gorgeous! The only thing I don't like is I want more angles on your new haircut. You look Wow!

  • Jacky replied 10 years ago

You look fantastic - the proportions are great.

  • E replied 10 years ago

You look so bright and crisp! I wilt in the summer. ;) I like the proportions bunches too, and the taupe shoes provide an extra layer of interest I love.

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Dana, thank you! Appreciate your comment particularly as I think we share an appreciation for similar stylings.

Suz, love your comment and you raise an interesting point. I would be absolutely flattered to be considered a style sister:) I think we share a real love of similar core pieces but we add our own twist... does that make sense.

    Grey Rainbow, thank you!

Anna, thank you! You are one who inspires me to wear what I like so I am tickled that you like this.

    Amy, thank you!

Thistle, thank you! This outfit is a little unique within my community and I questioned it for maybe 3 minutes this morning wondering if it was befitting "a" Pastors wife lol, but decided it was definitely befitting "this" pastor's wife :)

MuseumGal, thanks so much. Im still just that little bit sensitive about the hair so all affirmations are much appreciated.

Elizabeth, I couldn't work out why but the taupe sandals did seem the better choice, maybe for the bookending aspect too.

Shevia, the angles may come :) Im just feeling my way. My original thought was to keep the cut 'soft' and not too dramatic as I get used to it. I also thought the softer cut was a nice contrast to my preference for black and simple lines and layers.

    Jacky, thank you :)

E, thank you. I felt the proportions had the potential to make me look dumpy but I was kind of prepared to accept that. lol

Love, the flats make this nice and edgy!

Hehe, I still think that about my hair sometimes, too. I love the blonder blonde.

  • deb replied 10 years ago

Those are great sandals and your hair is FAB!!!

  • carambola replied 10 years ago

Gorgeous, fresh proportions and you look beautiful! Love the new hair too!

  • Parsley replied 10 years ago

Deborah, your shorter hair looks beautiful on you, and showcases your lovely features! I think as you get used to it you'll be able to go even edgier and more angular, but I can understand having an adjustment period.

There is that white blouse again that I love so much! I hope something like that is going to available in the US for summer, because it is fabulous and I want one!

Your outfit is so pretty, and looks great with the taupe shoes. You look completely appropriate for the heat, IMO.

No rose colored glasses, these proportions really do work well.  Change in our hair always takes getting use to , I think this length is great for you .

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Oh, how I love your look! The proportions look fine. The outfit is simple, feminine and strong. And your hair must be a dream for a stylist to work with. It is beautiful and looks perfect for the hot weather. I'm wowed.

  • Suja replied 10 years ago

Love the look. The draped top and flat open toed shoes give it a Grecian goddess vibe to my eye.

  • CocoLion replied 10 years ago

Love this on you!!  I'm copying this.  It just needs to get slightly warmer here and I'm ready for sandals.

  • Kiwibird replied 10 years ago

Gorgeous outfit Deborah, the proportions are perfect, the taupe sandals are perfect and the shorter and blonder hair is awesome!!

  • lyn67 replied 10 years ago

Hey Deb, this is so much fabness in one post that you're forgiven for not posting in a while:-). Love the hair, it's your strong new edge now! The outfit is seriously different and interesting totally your avant garde way. Love the top's draping and I don't see sacrificing figure flatering at all, but wow for those sandal booties! They look not only comfy(they are flat and see they have paddings but they are very edgy, too. And I agree with Suz, taupe is such  a good choice for the shoes here. I think wearing blacks is OK(if you don't feel them stumpifying) but taupe is better for an unexpected quirk and more finess. YLutterlyF!!:-)

Cool look! Jealous since we are in winter here in the US.

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Denise I want to see your version so hoping it warms up soon and you must post! :)

  • carolbee replied 10 years ago

You must have a fab footwear collection by now, including these new ones. Loving the shorter hair.

  • Vildy replied 10 years ago

What a stylish triumph over hot weather!

  • Sharon replied 10 years ago

You look great Deborah. I think the outfit really works, and I love, love, love your new hair!

  • kkards replied 10 years ago

1st, your hair looks absolutely fab. Both the cut and the color are wonderful. 2nd, what a perfect summer outfit. It looks cool and crisp, but still has an edge to it.

  • annaj replied 10 years ago

Love it all!! You hair is perfect!

  • viva replied 10 years ago

You look so cool in this outfit -- cool in both ways! -- and your hair is stunning! I am headed for shorter hair this week so am thrilled to have more inspiration. :)

  • Sarah A replied 10 years ago

Oh! I want this head to toe. I love the avant garde flat footwear :)

  • Janet replied 10 years ago

I love this. I could see copying this somehow when summer rolls around here. I need the proper white top -- this one is a great combination of drapey and architectural.

  • replied 10 years ago

Deb, I love the proportions. I think they do work and I love the choice of footwear! Your hair is fab too, it shows off your attractive profile.

Sarah A, yes, I could see you in something like this too.

  • Catnip replied 10 years ago

What a perfect hot weather outfit!  The proportions look just right to me, and the sandals are a nice change from black.  Your hair is gorgeous!

  • JulieJohn replied 10 years ago

I second all the kudos, and just chiming in to say your hair is delightful.

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

The proportions are fab, the outfit is fab, your hair is fab, in other words - you look fab! And I love your hairstyle :)

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

I love it all too, Debs. These proportions are totally flattering because there is "just enough structure". Love the amount of skin you're exposing. And gorgeous shorter 'do too.

  • Janet replied 10 years ago

I forgot to mention your hair! I think it looks gorgeous -- it's very you and shows off your features beautifully.

  • Suzanne (ambergreen) replied 10 years ago

All excellent! Agree with the "Grecian" comment from earlier. Nevermind "classic" -- this is classical, and fabulous. I could see other shorts or knee-length flippy (or straight) skirts in lower-contrast tones (maybe even patterns) swapped in with the top and shoes as well.

  • Hil replied 10 years ago

    Yay! A Deb WIW!!!

I love it all. Your Sandals are so edgy and unusual... and you know I love your hair!

  • Debra replied 10 years ago

Fantastic, you look great. I love the outfit, very stylish and just casual enough.
You hair looks fabulous. That little bit shorter is perfect :)

  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago

I have been waiting for your hair reveal Deborah!
Loving the shape and length, and the way it fits with your style.
I have 2 Mix pieces in navy- how fun it is to brighten-up the weekly grocery shop with browsing in the fashion section :)
