WIW: Peplum Power

Hi Fabbers,

I am a late adopter of the peplum and found this one on sale a few months back.  It is a light weight ponte and holds it shape well.

I wore this yesterday to the first of our work/volunteer Christmas Functions... lunch at the Golf Club!

Peplum top worn over pone pencil skirt with faux leather panels and BR like pointy toe flats.  I don't wear flats much but I have discovered that when I do I really prefer a pointed toe.  I like the length it adds visually and I don't feel 'stumpy"  (not sure what that means for my collection of almond toe flats)!

How does this work?  Looking at the pics I can see I had the wrong bra on but will rectify that if I wear it again.

Thanks for looking and your suggestions always appreciated.

xxx Deborah

PS:  I didn't mean to select the yay/nay feature. And Im not sure how to turn it off... please ignore :)

Love your outfit! And your shoes are TDF! I love pointy toes too. But I find them a tad uncomfortable than my round and almond toe shoes. I reserve them for less walking days. :)

ETA: I meant toes not ties. o_O

Love this look :) perfect for a lovely lunch :)

What a great outfit. I love how the leather balances the potential sweetness of the peplum (already balanced by the fact that it is in black, of course) and how the points of your shoes bookend your hair!

I was thinking the same as Suz, love the edginess.

    Another beautiful outfit, Deborah!
It has sort of a sculptural, futuristic vibe that I like a lot- none of the girlishness that I usually associate with peplums. Love those shoes, too! I agree completely about the pointy toes.

Love your Chanel style watch in white with this look to dress it down for lunch.
Again the soft draping peplum accentuates your waist. I like!!!

You look great! I am not a peplum fan but I like seeing how others style it. I am drooling over those shiny pointy shoes...

Fun peplum top, it looks very classic here paired with the pencil skirt.  And fun shoes, the cap toe is a great detail.

Wonderful look, Deborah!  And I know exactly what you mean about the flats - I rarely wear flats, but if I do, they must be pointy - not almond and not round!

  • lyn67 replied 10 years ago

Wow, for those flats! They relly amp  even more, your fab outfit! Peplum is special cut, I see, not a common one! very flatering, and love the leatherinsert pencil, too. Very polished, and curent!

Great outfit, Deborah! I love your shoes, and I also share your preference for a pointy toe on flats. Isn't it strange how we seem to fluctuate between various styles? The peplum top is perfect for you, and I adore how you have paired it with a pencil skirt.

This is just great!  Classy.  I would like to pair my peplum with my leather panel skirt, but it's strapless.  Not quite as classy lol.

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Mo how would your peplum look with a shirt of blouse underneath.  I think I recall Jenava doing something similar with a strapless dress?

Lovely outfit Deborah. Ladylike with your own special twist :) :)

love the structure of that particular peplum with the leather paneled skirt!! - and I have pointy toe flat love too!!

  • FlorenceFearne replied 10 years ago

Agreeing with everyone else here, I really like the mix of classic shapes with an almost futuristic twist. Very cool. And the shoes are a perfect final touch.

Love the draping on the front of your top, and I think the silhouette works quite well. I love how the leather and gold tips on the shoes add a bit of edge. I have no suggestions but if forced because I am a color hound I would advocate for a shot of it.

I completely agree with you on point-toe flats -- if I have to go flat then it should be pointed toe because they avert the "stumpy" effect.

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

Goodness you are fab! And I love pointy toe flats too!

Ooh la la Ms D --

Very elegant and Directrice...an outfit that no doubt makes others listen as well as look. Thanks for sharing.

This is absolutely gorgeous, Deborah!  So ladylike, but modern with a bit of edge in the metallic point of the shoes and the leather skirt.  Wear it again!
