WIW : Pale Blue

HI Ladies,

Felt like stepping out of my comfort zone today:)  More and more I realise I can't settle on one specific style, but rather I do enjoy variations that encompass my signature elements... electic?  Yes I think so.

These pants were a gift and I have been very hesitant to wear such a light colour on my bottom half:)  But it's not fair to have them just hanging in the wardrobe so I needed to give them a run and decide if I should keep or pass them to a friend.

I also wanted to break out my new white booties and while I really see myself  pairing these booties with a lot of black, to get started I decided on a lower contrast option.  Seeing the optic white on my feet when I look down is taking a bit of getting use to:)

I have spent the whole day in this outfit and given the day was a lot of running around my coat pretty much stayed on until I returned home.  A couple of my more fashion savy girlfriends said they really liked the outfit.

What do you think?  Are the pants worth keeping?  How does this combination look?  Should I have not left the house in this:)??

Thanks so much for looking and sharing your thoughts.

xxx Deborah

What a debut for the white booties!!
Absolutely love the black contrast on them with the white shirt and black jacket too.
I would have felt your hesitation in wearing this colour pant/on the bottom half/in Autumn BUT- you nailed it Deborah.
I am almost in tears looking at this outfit- A-MAZ-ING :)

Lyn, thank you!  When I left this morning I got "the look" from DH that said "really!!"  ha ha.
  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago
It IS different for you, and sometimes that's the only thing Hubby's notice!
Our eyes take-in the whole effect, and appreciate the small details.

Absolutely it works! Yes its different to what we are used to seeing but that doesn't mean it's not fab, far from it. The black on the booties echoes the other black items and I expect you will soon get used to seeing the white. You know you could try adding a cuff with a bit of turquoise in instead of your white watch too. I'm glad you're having fun with your eclecticness :)

It's an unexpected, but really lovely color, and I think you nailed it 100%. The main reason for the success is the considerable amount of white, IMO. That brings me to your booties - they are gorgeous. Well done!
  • Makrame replied 10 years ago
Wow, nice!  I really like the touches of white on top and bottom - the blouse and the booties are beautiful and work really well with these pants.

Such arty coolness! And those SHOES. I'm dying here.

That's a really nice blue.  Thumbs up.

Different for you, but so gorgeous!  I love that color blue.  And those booties!!!  So amazing! The pairing of the white, black and blue is lovely.

    Gorgeous, arty and eclectic  :)

I love this, Deb! Rare occasion to see light pants on me, too(other than my white denims and pants!) I like the black soles and parts on your white booties helping equilibrate the darker topper, and the white shirt popping out on the neckline is bookending the white shoes, and  blue pants are between , bridging between the blacks and whites! Thumbs up from me!
  • Mona replied 10 years ago
The booties are fabulous, Deb and make the outfit very interesting. Are these the same booties as Caro's silver ones?
  • pil replied 10 years ago
Beautiful color pants, Deborah.  Yes, outside of your usual colors, but still lovely!  Those boots are fab-u-lous and I love the softness of your blouse.

Maybe the look on your husband's face was more along the lines of being stunned by your loveliness rather than the "really!!" that you read : )
  • Jaime replied 10 years ago
What a gorgeous shade of blue! I love them with the white boots and especially like it without the coat when more of the white shirt shows on top. Keep the blue trousers and try that color on top too!

It's a beautiful blue, and looks great with the black and white!
  • texstyle replied 10 years ago
You really made these pants into a fabulous outfit with the black and white - I would definitely keep them because you look fantastic! Love those new booties too.
  • Suz replied 10 years ago
Echoing Shevia!! Love the new booties, too. I would have bought those in a flash as well. You will get a ton of wear from them.

    GOOD GRIEF

    *faints with white crash helmet*

LOVE LOVE LOVE those light blue skinnies with the new white boots - STELLAR and GORGEOUS!!!
  • kellygirl replied 10 years ago
Awesome! You are a genius to style them with the sheer blouse and white booties. SO pretty, Deborah! LOVE this.
  • annaj replied 10 years ago
    Yes! Love it!

  • Angie replied 10 years ago
KILLER to the power of KILLER. Those come out very sparingly!

So much better than black from head to toe to my eye Debs, I can't even begin to explain it!!!! Youthful, vibrant, flattering, hip, graphic, eclectic, ALIVE and SO CHIC! The white peeking out from under the shirt makes a huge difference. Softer. Verve :). And that blue with the white is magical. *WOW* !!!

I need to recover from your sizzling style quotient. xo

this is just truly amazing in every way. I love the white under the asymmetric black sweater then echoed again in the shoes. Im with Angie, WOW! WOW! WOW!

  • unfrumped replied 10 years ago
I don't see how you do it! It all works together. I like the idea of repeating the blue somewhere in the outfit (not necessarily even the exact blue) but it looks great as-is. I think the more dramatic top elevates the pants to a different vibe. Plus the black trim on the white boots was inspired, to play well with black items.
  • rachylou replied 10 years ago
    Uh, YES! Keep the pants!

I have to tell you, I have been all for autumn colours in the spring (forest green and black), but I love even better a total role reversal - spring robin-egg blues in autumn as well. My dear, I think you have set the trend!
  • Parsley replied 10 years ago
Wow! That shade of blue is fabulous on you, Deborah! Sometimes pastels can risk looking twee, but the way you've styled them with the black and white there is no danger of that. You look fresh, modern, and gorgeous.
    LOVE the boots, too!
  • Susie replied 10 years ago
I totally agree with Parsley! You've taken a color that's not you yet styled it into a look that is absolutely you. Definitely keep!
  • Kiwichik replied 10 years ago

I definitely think you have nailed it. If you had described this combination I would have been doubtful (I too have a pale bottom phobia) but it just works so beautifully especially with the white boots and definitely fits with your style vibe.

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Wow! Thank you all so much for the encouragement re the light bottoms :)
And thank you for the boot love! I should confess that I was very carefull all day not to get marks on the boots lol.

Mona the books are physically the same as Caro's but not the same label. Caro's are actually a better pair of boots quality wise.

In the evening I changed into my black skinnies but same combo to do the groceries and I was really happy with the graphic look of the black and white. DH was funny. He said, are you going to wear WHITE boots to the supermarket??? I think he was just teasing :) I did notice the boots got a few looks while I was out :)

And Angie you are so lovely. I had a suspicion you may appreciate this one. I did feel that subconciously I was channelling some of your signature elements.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone xxx

WELL. Deborah this is just amazing!! Definitely wear those pants more. The boots are gorgeous, and if I were to picture "the perfect white bootie for Deb" that's just how they'd look (with a bit of black!). The white shirt layered underneath the black is just brilliant, and the best detail of the look to me. If you repeat outfits, this is a WINNER and absolutely needs to come out to play often :D
  • Eliza replied 10 years ago
Deborah- Late to the party, but had to let you know how compelling and flattering and inspiring this outfit is.  Just stunning on you and your choices are what make those pants work so well. Beautiful.

Now about those booties- couldn't find the post that mentioned them. Would you mind sharing who makes them? I would share your heightened awareness of optic white "feet", but you give me the courage to try it.

Thanks for posting this. You have turned some of my residual  fashion assumptions upside down and I am grateful.

How did I miss this? I think I may need a crash helmet too.
    LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 10 years ago
More love for that color on you here! I do like the pants, the outfit is fab, and yes, please keep! I like the white blouse and white watch with the white boots, and also the way the black accent on the boots ties in with the black in your outfit. Proportion is fab. I like Diane G's idea of some blue at the wrist, too, perhaps along with the white watch. And yes, it's a different look for you, color-wise, but not out of character.
  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Eliza, thank you so much:). I bought the boots of The Iconic. They are currently on sale but were not pricey to start with. They are not leather, but for me in this instance that wasn't a problem. They are very comfortable.

    Here's the link for you...

Thanks Caro:). Seeing your silver ones made me get these out and start wearing them:)

Firecracker, thank you. I was wearing a silver pendant with blue on it, kind of a Japanese cherry blossom in blue and silver, bit it didn't show in the pics:(

  • Lantana replied 10 years ago

Hang on, blue? Can this be Deborah?
Yes it is and it's an out and out winner. I love the second shot that shows most blue. This tone is divine on you. Wear it often, it looks seriously good.

Joining the lovefest here. I was surprised by your title as I do not think of you as a light blue gal, but this totally works. Killer boots and a gorgeous shade of blue that totally works with your white and black.
  • replied 10 years ago
I love color and I LOVE this, Deborah!  Blue has never looked better.  Love the boots too.
