WIW: On A Cold Night

Hi Fabbers,

We have a thing on tonight with the Pastoral team and partners (DH's work). It is outdoors but undercover and we are having dinner and a catch up, we will be making our own pizzas:)

It has been bitterly cold all day, so the idea of an evening spent outdoors as the temp falls to 9 degrees isn't really my idea of fun but you do these things for the one you love right?

Dressing for warmth and comfort but hoping to retain at least an element of style.

#1
Ponte leggings, long sleeve tee, poncho style sweater (birthday shopping) and sneaks.

#2
But this is how I will probably look all evening...beanie and my wind/rain/cold jacket with hood. Just looking for a scarf now:)

I'm shivering and I'm not there yet lol.

Hope you are all having a fab weekend.

xxxDeborah

The Winter Solstice is not the best time for an outdoor event!
We had sunshine here today which made it feel warmer- a shame this must have by-passed Bendigo :(

You look adorable in your over-coat and beanie- I am sure DH will give you a big bear-hug to help keep you warm!
Are you taking your own GF pizza-base?

Hope you enjoy your evening Deborah.

I have a wedding anniverssarry to go today and our weather changed dramatically from summer to fall temrerature and I planned a sleeveless dress - with peeptoes without stockings- not sure yet, would love to wear comfy cashmere cardigan instead...

Nice and bundled up. Loving the cream soles on those sneaks that bookend your hair. xo

Great sneakers! So fun to see you dressed in winter when it is so very hot here!

You look very stylish for being out on a cold night. Were you warm enough?

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Thanks ladies. These are the type of rare event that I really struggle with in terms of what to wear:).

For the most part I was warm enough:). The couple whose home it was has what they call "The Hut". The Hubby built it. It is large, has a proper roof and partial sides with fitted blinds. It's well fitted out with kitchen facilities and a proper pizza oven! A dining table and some old couches were the seating and there was an open style fire in the middle. It was actually very civilized and quite a novelty.

I did take my own gluten free pizza base and the hostess had every topping imaginable. She had even tried to make the gluten free base for me and she was so disappointed it didn't work out.

It was a nice evening, but I find I still struggle at times with where I fit in, in my current environment. I'm not so good at small talk and meaningful interactions were few...I think it may be a skill I need to develop:)

Hi Debroah--I have to favourite this for when our winter returns--Love the coat and beanie.
I, too, struggle with small talk.

  • Lyn D. replied 9 years ago

Great that you had plenty of food options Deborah!
I don't mind small talk, but as an introvert I find larger groups quite draining
:(  - I always prefer to be tucked up on the couch with DH and a good movie, or with the laptop and YLF.

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Lyn I am so pleased to hear you say that:). I am much better at one on none interactions. I have to confess that getting home and warming up with my boys and YLF made me very happy:)

  • Ledonna N. replied 9 years ago

Raising hand, I have a difficult time also espically being very introverted. I have read many threads on this board with others saying the same. My style is usually the opening for conversation. I have no problem with one on one but I find it to be very challenging. Some find me to be standoffish I just don't know what to say. So I feel exactly what your saying about YLF it. Feels like coming home.

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Ladywone, yes it is like coming home. It's a very inclusive and accepting community which is quite unique:). And I would have imagined you to be very outgoing:).

  • Ledonna N. replied 9 years ago

Deborah I think the introvert in me and the insecurities I feel make me hesitant to put myself out there. It took me years to stop lurking here basically because I miss seeing the beautiful fashion and styles of all the wonderful people on this board. I have decided that I would put myself into situations that I would have to have social interactions to make me more comfortable it's kind of like my fear of heights send ladders it is part of my job to climb them at times.
