WIW : Not So Sunny Sunday

Hi All,

I think Winter might be getting to me! It was sunny this morning and I thought ah Spring is on its way, but no, it was dull and overcast by the time I left the house :(

Life and work are busy at the moment so I haven't had time to photograph any new outfits but managed to get this morning's outfit for church.

I have to confess to not giving it much thought (I slept in:).

Straight leg jeans
Ink blue blouse
Black and White Abstract Jacket
Suede Black Wedges
Green Flower Bag ... just for fun:)

Thanks for looking and I hope you are having a great weekend.

xxx Deborah

Beautiful! I love that bag and it looks just fantastic with the blue blouse!

  • JR replied 11 years ago

Up here, that would be a spring outfit... LOL!

And a very, very nice one at that.

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

Lol JR. I'm rebelling against our Winter!!

  • JR replied 11 years ago

I'll send you a bit of our summer. It's 9pm, and it's still 31 outside. With humidity, 39. It was much worse during the day. Tomorrow, more of the same. I can hardly wait for it to break. I am actually wearing one of those cooling ties just to survive.

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

JR I feel for you! I much prefer the cooler weather to the heat. And I prefer cool weather dressing too, more opportunities to layer;)

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Absolutely stunning Deborah - love that jacket on you. And the bag is gorgeous!

  • Jaime replied 11 years ago

Deborah the blue is beautiful on you.

  • Krista replied 11 years ago

Woweeeeeeeeeee! I love everything about this look - sleek, sophisticated, funky, fun and it looks super comfy. And the bag............swoon!

  • sarah replied 11 years ago

You look terrific, and that bag certainly is fun. I hope your styling stint went well : )

  • Jamie replied 11 years ago

Deborah -- you look stunning in blue!!!

  • replied 11 years ago

I love all that inky blue fabness on you Deborah! That blazer looks so sharp with it, and I didn't even know you had a green bag. We are seeing all kinds of color on you this winter!

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

Claire today was the green bags first outing:). It was a birthday gift in June:)

Sadly this was my jacket's second and last outing:( While out I noticed the fabric near the back shoulder seem had started to fray, not even at the seam! Dropped by the store where I bought it and turns out there is a fabric fault and jacket has been recalled. They were lovely and refunded me but I'm so disappointed. Anyway will be keeping my eye out for something similar.

  • Kari replied 11 years ago

Oh Deborah, that's so disappointing about the jacket! Darn. I've had that happen before with a piece that I fell in love with (I'm thinking of a fabulous patterned silk dress that started to literally shred on its second wear.) I'm very glad that the store was cooperative and will keep my fingers crossed that you can find a similar item.

  • JR replied 11 years ago

:o( That is distressing. It was so lovely too.

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

    Oh no! :(

Well. The outfit was a KILLER combination while the jacket was still behaving.

Debs, thank you for your facebook comment last week. You rock. xoxo

  • christy replied 11 years ago

Oh, so disappointing about the jacket! But what a FAB outfit while it lasted!

This stood out to me most:
"I have to confess to not giving it much thought (I slept in:)."
What a terrific place to be! It seems to me the effort you've put into defining your style and creating your wardrobe has paid off in spades. You are able to "throw together" an outfit that is chic, stylish, perfectly appropriate for the circumstances and undeniably *you* and make it appear effortless. For some reason, I flashed back to your very first WIW post. You were beautifully stylish then, but your style has evolved so much since then. How fun to watch that evolution! I think you and I really started participating fully in the forum at about the same time, so I've watched your journey with interest. (in the words of Vix on one of my threads the other day, I hope that doesn't sound "stalker-ish"! LOL!)

  • Parsley replied 11 years ago

Deborah, I'm so sad to hear about your jacket. I loved it on you! I hope you'll keep a look out for a similar replacement.

Anyway, while it lasted your outfit today was fab as can be. I love that green bag, too!

  • replied 11 years ago

Great color combo! Oh how I love that green and blue together...and that bag is TDF!! ;)

  • rute replied 11 years ago

Love!! Só chic! Love the blue and the green

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

Thank you for your kind words about the outfit and your sympathy re the sudden end of the jacket! I could see that Jacket being worn alot through Spring and not so hot Summer but...

Angie, thank you! And my pleasure, I have a very strong sense of social justice and fairness and I couldn't not respond :)

Christy, lol, nothing stalkerish about it. We did start participating here about the same time and I really relate to your style, so I too have really enjoyed following your outfits and journey here. Correct me if I am wrong but I think we may have shared a similar challenge in terms of casual wear. Until YLF I always struggled with putting together casual non-work outfits. I love corporate and work wear and had heaps of it but didn't really wear jeans and had no idea how to translate the look I like into casual wear. And then going from full time to part time work meant my need for smart casual became more important. Not to mention our shared love of neutrals!!
And for the record, the skirt I wore in my first WIW was never really 'me'. It now lives in my mother's closet and she loves it.

And if anyone sees a similar jacket please let me know :) I love Angie's Zara jacket, however I felt the abstract pattern was more me than a floral.

Cue has a black and white paisley blazer. It looks similar in the product photograph to your blazer. I am pretty sure there will be more black and white patterned blazers around soon. It seems to be an item that is trending. On you, of course, it's a classic!

    Oops. Duplicate posting.

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

Lauren this is gorgeous! Thank you:). I don't know if my budget will stretch to this at the moment, but I may stalk it and see if it gets marked down:)

  • Lyn D. replied 11 years ago

A shame about the jacket Deborah! I will look out for you when I am next shopping.. So far I have seen some floral blazers, but nothing similar to your lovely one.
No spring weather yet- forecast of very cold weather and some snow this Thursday!

  • Laurenlaurielala replied 11 years ago

Cue often does 50 - 70% off markdowns if stock lasts more than 3 months...you never know! I'll still keep an eye out for other options, though. That jacket looks so lovely on you. I hope you find a replacement.

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

Lauren thank you so much. I will watch the Cue site and hope the jacket doesn't sell lol. You're a fellow Aussie?

  • Lisa replied 11 years ago

Ack! Sorry to hear about the jacket, it was fab. I'd keep an eye out for a similar style to continue to sport this look, it's lovely on you!

  • Laurenlaurielala replied 11 years ago

    Yup, I'm in Brisbane.

I saw another black and white photo floral print jacket at Veronika Maine and thought of you. You can see a pic in their campaign photos. There are matching pants!

    http://veronikamaine.com.au/summer-2012/#

It's not any cheaper than the Cue one though!! At least it's another one to stalk and hope it doesn't sell?!?!

There is 15% off on Veronika Maine tomorrow on full priced items. I don't find that to be a huge incentive, but every little bit helps if it's something you just have to have!

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

Lauren thank you for thinking of me. I love VM and I do like this blazer. This one I am definitely stalking:). Next trip to Melbourne I will go to Chadstone and try it on and until then I think I might have to start saving he he.

  • Ornella replied 11 years ago

Shame about the jacket, but what a stunning outfit it was!! You are going from strength to strength and it is a wonderful process to watch.

  • harmonica replied 11 years ago

    So FAB outfit!

Sad about the jacket because it is stunning! I must have missed it, but what caused the jacket death?

Solid blue really flatters you and that bag is such happy accessory.
