WIW : My Usual:)

Hi Fab Ones,

Happy Friday!

I don't work Fridays and had nothing booked but to do grocery shopping with DH (he likes for us to do this together) and then we had lunch out and then I had as little browse at our shopping complex. The pants I wanted were sold out on my size so have to wait for them to restock and nothing else called my name so I came home empty handed;)

I am feeling very comfortable with how my wardrobe is evolving. My work wardrobe (3 days a week) is more structured in which I try to include one draped or arty element, and my non work wardrobe is more like today, less structure and lots of drape and layering. Accessories are mostly silver, modern and simple and work well across work and non work outfits as do my handbags. And the good thing is that two separate wardrobes are not required as my staples work across both work and on work worlds.

Today's outfit is my old skinny black jeans, cross over draped sleeveless top, long tail cardigan and peep toe booties.

Thanks for looking and your thoughts and suggestions much appreciated.

xxxDeborah

Love this - I'll take one of everything in navy thanks. YLF.

This draped black top with the skinny jeans and sexy peeep toe booties look amazing on you.  The black plays so well with your fair colouring and hair.  I'm also a huge fan of simple silver statement pieces of jewelry to contrast with black.  YLF.

    Lovely!

Yes, this is Essential Deborah! Nobody rocks all black outfits like you do (even though I LOVE to wee you in color).
...and I am SO envious of your Fridays off...:-)

Deborah, you must turn heads wherever you go, even grocery shopping. You take command of these fab outfits that would be bossing most of us around. I love this on you!

Love the drama in this outfit!

A super all black outfit.  You really know how to make all black interesting with draping and textures and your light fun hair.  I always think it's neat when wardrobes have items that can crossover into weekend wear from the work capsules.

So dramatic!  I love this on you! You really know how to do black.

    Spectacularly sculptural.  Looking so great!

Oh my goodness....I just love your drapey style!

    Sexy!

What a great cardi, you look fabulous :)

So beautiful!  I've admired your style for awhile (newbie here) and aspire to sometime wear outfits similar to yours.  I specially like the lack of prints and the neutral palette which lets the structure and drape of the clothes shine. (In my mind I call this "architectural" style I don't know why). Your precise hairstyle adds so much polish. I got some tops that work well, and I have tried others that really appeal to me but I struggle with waist- or figure-surrendering if there's too much fabric or draping. I've also tried on some tops that take too much time to figure what hole my arms/head goes in!  too fussy, but I guess that's the specialness of the design.  I love your peep-toe booties as well. Thanks for sharing.

    Echoing Sveta... essentially *you* Lovely!

Horray for classic Deborah! You know that I love this. :D

The peep toe boot in general is such a confusing concept to me, but why try to understand when they look so fabulous :) The draped 'tail' on you cardigan is so dramatic and interesting.

A friend of mine's daughter is a clothing designer (Lauren Bagliore) and her signature style is artful draping. Your clothes always bring her styles to mind - the draping on your clothes is always perfection. You wear this look beautifully.

I always love all your looks - work and play. I actually really want to try to copy this one in grays. :D

    Sigh.... Just perfect!

So avante-garde and put together down to those leather booties! What does DH think of your style evolution as you become more edgy? Is he stepping it up as well?

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Thanks peacechick!  This has been my default style for a long time but I think I have been honing it more over the past few years.  So DH is quite used to it.  Probably the new part is the incorporation of these elements into my work wardrobe.  DH likes me in solids and in black so he seems happy :)  Your question about DH stepping up his style made me smile.  We are very different in the style stakes.  He does dress well, but he is a jeans and tee, or jeans and shirt guy.  Very casual:)  The 'stepping up abit" happened early in our relationship (I cannot even begin to talk about his footwear when we first met) and has remained consistent since :)

As always a perfectly chic Deborah look.  I can't imagine wearing all that clothing, it's 30degrees up here now :)

  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago

And this is what you wear to grocery shop?
Certainly not one of the 'invisible ladies' in these outfits.
    FAB ++!

  • CocoLion replied 10 years ago

I've been missing your outfits, I just haven't had as much late night (= daytime Australia) time on YLF as I used to!   Love the drama and detail here, the top is beautifully focused as there's nothing to distract.

  • Neel replied 10 years ago

So Deborah! Love this super arty look!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

There you go with your gorgeous draping and arty outfit! Your "usual" is fabulous!

  • peacechick replied 10 years ago

Deborah your reply made me smile too! When I met my DH, he thought style was a baggy shirt thrown over a t-shirt and he wore his ski jacket for all occasions. While he still dresses casually, he now owns a small collection of jackets for different seasons. And he puts up with my eccentric dressing so I never nag him about his style :)
